Randy in Maine
My J-20 pulled an overloaded big U-Hual from Utah to Maine in 1985 and got 15-18 mpg all of the way. Great truck and when driven in Boston "rotaries" (sort of like "Rollerderby" with cars) the turbo Saabs could not get out of my way fast enough. To clean and re-seal your fuel tank, I would suggest going here..... http://www.por15.com/prodinfo.asp?grp=TS&dept=12 Buy a quart of Tank sealer, a gallon of Marine Clean, and a gallon of Metal Ready. Follow these directions.... http://www.ratwell.com/technical/FuelTa ... ation.html
thejum57
Welcome to "the dark side". I own a 76 J-10. I bought it in October 2000. Put alot of blood, sweat & money into it.....I still love it....even though it's been off the road (not in a good way) for a couple of years. That's why I bought my Comanche, that and a real good price. The J-10 will come back to life!!!!! If you don't know about this site, check it out asap; http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/ I can't say how much I've learned from them. I'm on that site also. Good luck my friend, look forward to seeing posts from you. Jim
carnuck
Now I have a little more time to post. fsj-list@yahoogroups.com[/email] (there are some regional lists as well like My '83 J10 is a longbox with 4.2L that I stuffed an AW4 into along with the NP208J (I was going to put the J20 axles from my '73 J4000 into it) I was going to use it to tow my 5th wheel, but I got a shortbox '76 J10 with J20 axles. I put the 304 from my '73 (that I pulled from my '77 AMX) into it with a 727 and Dodge Ramcharger NP208D (mirror image of the Jeep one so I don't have to change axles) That will do the job nicely (and I can sell off the '81 Chev C20 with 454 I currently use for this job while the price of gas is still down)

Leehi417
i fired the truck up today, she lives again. added some fuel cleaner and fuel and she fired up after the third try. after sitting for 8 years it good to know she works. works still slow so i can't do the things i wana do but ill keep you updated when something happens. she sounded nasty, if i can find my video camera ill video her running for a couple seconds. Randy in Maine
Those autolite carbs are not the greatest set ups but are pretty easy to rebuild and can be made to run decent. Be sure to set the float level correctly and to use compressed air to blow out the passages. They tend to "mung up" when they are fed dead old rusty gas. My 77 J-20 had a T-18 in it.
