HOrnbrod
After the recent dyno runs I had at Hesco after some engine mods, I was not happy about the 25%+ power loss through the drive train with my AW-4 auto. While it has served me well, I am seriously looking into swapping in 5-speed. The AX-15 should be the easiest I ASSuME, so am looking for advice, guidance, and recommendations. Best to look for a hard-to-find late model donor, or pick up the bits and pieces seperately? Tapco has new surplus AX-15s for $945. Didn't Chryco use these up until 2001? And, are there other optional standard trannies adaptable?
ejndssn
actually you have another option and that would be using the nv3550 which is pretty good and i know that Pete has one in one of his so if you price out one of those that may do the trick for ya as well I would recommend that external slave of the ax-15  that my 2 cents worth

wolfpackjeeper
sm425 or sm 465 are outstanding 4spds if you can find them, ax15 would do fine, nv 3550,3555, or the nv4500 are all options on mannys novak makes adapters for the turbo350 and the 700r4 if you wanted to go there too. actually novak makes adapters for all of them.
