Bad Creaking

Recommended Posts

I get this whenever I turn. I can feel and hear the truck creaking really loud and it sounds as if its coming from under the cab to under the front part of the bed. I can feel it through the acclerator. I am trying to think of a better way to describe it but I can't really think of much.

Need more info: 4wd? turning sharp wheels cranked all the way in parking lot,or does it hapen on road right?left?Power steering?etc.........?

Grease all grease fittings on front suspension. If grease does'nt help, you could just spray WD-40 on 1 spot at a time to se when it goes away(leafsprings, steering stops).

Ok, here are the specs of my rig

2.5L Fuel-Injected

2WD

Have a 2WD Front Axle (looks like just a metal tube)

And it creaks whenever i turn, and here lately it started doing it when i would start hitting my accelerator from a stop (like at a stop light). Anybody near me know alot so maybe could help me out?

i'de check a few of the front end items:

sway bar bushings

trackbar mount

and make sure the shocks are tight where the bushings meet the inner fender.

My '85 would creek at full lock like when doing a u-turn, i took the sway bar off and it went away...

I would take a can of WD-40 with me and before each trip in the truck I would hose down one connection. Eventually you should find the culprit and keep it lubed in the future. The sway bars would be first on my list, followed by the shock mounts and the shock bar under the cover. Or you can hose it all down the first time and take the shotgun approach to it. You may not learn the exact source, but the sound should go away. :D

You mean dana30 right? And if you throw a d30 in you might as well do the transfer and linkage + rear drive shaft...

Does it creak if you turn the wheels when stoped? Does it creak when truck leans around fast corner? If you are starting from light and going strait ahead and hear creak then it sounds like sway bar, or 4-links busings,or leaf springs rust between leafs or spring bushings. I'd try to locate sound before 4x4 conversion. Also did you paint every thing black under truck ? looks Cool.

Paints the lower areas all long the body and the fender flares satin black (rattlecan :D ) bout to rattlecan the rest of the truck...its gonna be completely satin black for primer, then I'm thinking about going for a lightish blue
