ZJ Coils

Recommended Posts

To anybody who has used these. I have a never installed set of ZJ Up-Country coils that never made it on the ZJ. Would it be worth it, and what would be a good set-up for the rear, to go with them? Did a search and got 14 bazillion reply's. I'll try to read through them tommorow. Thanks!

I've got a set of V8 ZJ coils I pulled out of the junkyard, but haven't put them in yet. Word on the street is they'll gain 1/2-3/4", but I'm hoping for a little bit more, considering my MJ is a 2.5 and was 2WD originially. I'm planning on a combo of the springs and some spacers to even out a homebrew lift (still staying SUA) with a new-to-me 4WD MJ rear springpack and an AAL. I'm hoping to net 2.5-3" of lift total, or thereabouts 8)

Lemme know how those coils work out for you.....

Don't know when and if I'll get to this. I'm not finding anything out on the internet. This is what I know so far. The measured length of my Comanche springs is 12.25 (in the truck), my UpCountry springs measure 17.5., so I believe there is something to be gained. I'm hoping I can go with a 2or3 inch AAL. I've been fooling with Grands so long all this is new to me. My gut feeling is to go with Rusty's 3 inch kit for $245 and be done with it. I don't want to be installing and removing springs over and over, but I guess I'll put them in when I get time and see what I get. This won't be a hard core wheeler. I'm still wanting a TJ for that.

If Upcountry ZJ coils are 17.5", then in order to get the slightest amount of lift they would need to have a higher spring rate. I just went outback and measured a pair of standard XJ springs and they too are 17.5" :huh???: !
