jftimbo Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 I just found a ring and pinion set on ebay for dana 30 and 35, which is what I have, 4.10 which is what I want. They are coming out of a 2004 TJ, will they work in my 89 comanche? If not, what year/model gears will fit? Thanks in advance, Tim P.S. Pics will be coming soon of the comanche with new sound system, BB, grille guard, etc.
CWLONGSHOT Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Rear will front will NOT. Your rear is a NON "C" clip D35 while the TJ is a "C" clip D35 rear, but that will make no never mind for the actual gears them selves. Your MJ is a hi-pinion D30 front. Thats reverse rotation and not the same as the TJ's LO-PINION STD rotation. CW
jftimbo Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 Thanks for the info. So I guess that for the rear I just need to look for any gears from a Dana 35, and year/model? And for the front, I just need hi-pinion reverse rotation from a Dana 30? Would this be a good matchup for the front? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DANA-30- ... 4975QQrdZ1 Thanks, Tim
DirtyComanche Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 That ad sucks, aren't YJ's LP? Anyways, they will fit. I suggest getting a different rear axle though. Waste of money to regear a 35.
DirtyComanche Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Hmm, learn something new every day. I never really looked at them...
Pete M Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 If you're looking for 4.10s, it can be cheaper to just get stock Jeep axles from the junkyard with 4.10s in them. Installation costs can be mind boggling. Plus, I can't condone sinking any money into a Dana 35 beyond new gear oil. They just aren't worth it.
Bounty Hunter Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I just scored an Exploder 8.8, 4.10 and discs for $100
pingpong Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I must agree :agree: go buy a used set of axles all ready set up 4.10. Also for a used set of gears that price is kinda high. The only advantage to using used gears is purchase price cost, and when they cost that much, you can almost buy new, and get free shipping. I think last time I checked on new d30 gears, they were around 119, with shipping. but thats been a yr or so ago, so prices might have gone up.
