My MJ hates me

So, got the whoile front end put back together. Took it to the alignment shop.

Alignment shop says $400. What a b*@$£.

Camber is out 1.5* on both wheels, caster is off 2*.

The threaded aduster in the knuckle for the balljoint wouldn't come out. They're tearing the whole front apart so they can cut the offending pieces out of the knuckle and replace them with the proper * parts.

The Mj is a money pit!

What threaded adjuster? The ball joints aren't adjustable.

And caster is adjusted by adding or removing shims at the rear lower control arm mounting pocket. You can do it at home if you have a level driveway or garage floor.

I was thinking the same thing.

Go get a second opinon, those guys are quaks.

And honestly, as long as it's alright it'll drive fine.

I agree, something is amiss here......Is the new axle bent? If not, why is camber off??? What was the deal with your old axle?

Caster is not a big a deal, at least money wise. As EAGLE already said, Shims can be added or removed from behind the frame end of the LCA to adjust this.

The D30 inner C's are kinda pushwah. I bent one of mine a bitsy, about 2*. Not a problem now as I blew that axle up anyways.

But realistically a new axle shouldn't have that problem. Mine had a little air time issue that was resposible for that. I think.

And even if the body is off only the caster will be affected. Most places can't even measure track.

I

've got no idea about it's former life other than it came from a 97.

I just said F-it. I'm tired of working on it. They put adjustable sleeves in the knuckles, so I can use regular cheapy balljoints when I replace them.

Anyway, I saw the printout, camber and caster are correct now, drives OK.

Was just pissed cause I didn't get tto go wheeling this weekend.

and the total bill was 332 after tax. They cut me a break on labor, I told them the front end would come apart easy :)
