512tr
Pull the motor and ditch the YJ and buy another MJ. Heh-heh. He,he..the YJ have been a good reliable Jeep, and the no top/no doors alternative is for me priceless, Cut'em Offthe MJ its not that hard then you can get rid of the YJ :D Cole Damn, your YJ phobia topped the BS meter.. :D Your YJ is the shiznit. Xenons and a blower? Thanks….It’s Hella Bi-xenon (hi-low in same light), I bought them for a bike project… but they ended up on the YJ. Avenger blower with intercooler, and programmable Split Second piggyback for fuel and ignition.
Jeep Tricks
My buddy did this same conversion to his '89 MJ. He had to get a custom built radiator since the holes for the hoses are in different spots on the 4.7. Wiring took him a while but he finally got it done. He also built his own headers since space is limited with that engine. The motor mounts and tranny mount he also made himself. You won't be able to use that intake box there is no room for it under the hood. You're going to make one or get an aftermarket one to go in the stock location for that truck. I don't have pictures of it but as soon as I do I will post them.
512tr
Jeep Tricks, very interesting….and pictures will be appreciated  What Trans did he use, the 42RE or 545REF? Tell your buddy to join the club and introduce his 4.7 V8 MJ !
Jeep Tricks
I'm not sure what tranny he used. I'll ask him and let you know. If I ask him to join the club then he will be taking the "Jeep Tricks" name cuz thats the name of his shop. I'm going to have to come up with something else. He does something different to his Comanches and all of our friends that own Comanches (group of 7). I haven't seen it done on anyones Manche in the forum. Instead of cutting the quarter panel to make the tire stuff under, he cuts the outer lip around the fender well and then pulls the outer skin of the bed side out. then he makes some brakets to hold it in place. Gives the Comanche a different look. He runs 33's on his trucks and they stuff without any problems. Whether its dog legging or a straight stuff. And to make the front match the back, he uses fiberglass fenders. I will be doing this to mine as soon as I get enough money for tires and the lift. Besides that 4.7 MJ he has another 2WD MJ he turned into a race truck. Stroked his 4.0 to a 4.6 and burns 110 leaded. 16" King shocks all around, and runs the BFG Baja T/A. Ford 9" built by Currie in the rear and a widened straight axle in the front also built by Currie. Usually races in the MDR and BITD. Most likey we will be at the baja race at the end of the summer. Oh by the way the name of his Comanche is "Pheonix." Reason being is someone decided to turn it into a lowered dualie with with some huge fenders on the quarter panels. He got rid of that and brought it back to what a Jeep should be! The body and paint isn't that great but whats under the hood is awesome!
jage
Is that like what I did to my XJ front flares? Later I tabbed the back and did the same thing and used the metal to mount cheap @$$ flares - can anyone say cabinet floor molding?
Jeep Tricks
Yes just like that but cut a little bit more off. About 3/4" lip remaining from what you have on your front flares. I don't know exactly how he manged to pull the bed sides out so far but I will soon find out.
