mknherhappy Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 My MJ has been giving me fits by overheating. Checked the fluid levels and all is good. Drive it daily with no problems, then about once a week it will overheat. Any advice?
Pete M Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 What precisely is the truck doing when it overheats?

Drive it daily with no problems, then about once a week it will overheat. Any advice? 1. Replace the Thermostat. 2. Check the condition of the hoses, might be getting sucked shut. Quality hoses have a spring to prevent this. 3. Flush er out if 1 & 2 don't get results

Wanted to do it myself, but, cannot figure out how to do it with the petcock rusted shut and the overflow bottle system.
mknherhappy Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 Remove the lower hose..... CW then do I just run water through the coolant overfill? Thank you for the information.
Eagle Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 "Coolant overfill"? What year is your MJ? Do you have the old style system with the plastic pressure bottle, or do you have the new style with a regular radiator cap?
