  1. Got a crack in my exhaust manifold and am seeing if anyone happens to have an extra one kicking around they would like to sell me. I’m located on Vancouver island in B.C. Canada. Willing to pay shipping *depending*
  2. '89 Renix 2wd Comanche with 4.0 6cyl and Aisin AX-15 manual 5 speed MFI 242 What advice can y'all offer on replacing/repairing the exhaust manifold on a 89' renix comanche? I haven't torn it all apart yet, but I'd like to be readied for the worst if it winds up as more than the perfunctory gasket replacement we're most familiar with. Exhaust fumes were noticed emanating from underneath the hood when parking my vehicle directly after 15 minutes of highway driving in heavy rain. I heard no distinct, loud, or obscene sound, but upon parking the smell of fumes was noticed as immediately as the now visible tendrils of fumes escaping on the driver's side from the crevice a closed hood rests inside. The vehicle was promptly parked awaiting its trial so as to prevent damage to my catalytic converter, the rest of the exhaust, system, vapor canister, EGR, system or throttle body. The replacement parts seem either too cheaply made, probably won't bolt on squarely, could need serious modification to correctly fit, and may require parts, such as a drill and tap; or they're strictly for a 91' + MJ/XJ though I'm in no way opposed to using the existing replacement gasket options. I'm experiencing hellacious blow-by and will be replacing the valve cover gasket and following Cruiser54's valve cover mod most likely tomorrow. As a side query what solution has worked for you replacing the air intake?
  3. I've been digging into my recently purchased '91 4.0 HO, working to get the recurring exhaust smell troubleshot. It was obvious immediately that the tailpipe and muffler were toast, but after getting them replaced, I was still getting fumes. I finally determined for sure the exhaust manifold is cracked by sticking a mirror and a flashlight in there for a detailed inspection this morning (After two mechanics and a muffler shop said it was fine). The truck has not been registered in California yet. It still has almost a year left on a Georgia plate registration. Here in CA we have C.A.R.B. which typically only allows the stock (more restricted) manifold design. I am all for clean air and smog sucks, but I don't understand how increasing the efficiency of a motor by improving the flow design on a header makes for significantly more exhaust particles. Maybe someone has an answer... More importantly, does anyone have any experience with getting an inspection in CA? I'm sure the stock design with the improved materials/welds will work fine, however I always install the best performing and highest quality parts I can find within reason. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on which header to use or if there is something I am missing... I've found about six or seven different designs so far on Amazon, Ebay, and the like, but only a few stock designs that are C.A.R.B certified... Also, will a redesigned, less restrictive header increase the chances of failing a smog? I'm guessing that it might fail a smog with the cracked header on it now. Thanks everyone...
  4. Help I can't seem to find aftermarket Header for my 86 2.5l. Ever supplier seems to say that the headers they make are for 91-2001 fit only. Please anyone with 2.5l help if you have aftermarket headers.
