I just swapped my bench out this weekend for some buckets out of a 86' manche. Shoulda done this a year ago! The only issue I found was that the seat belt buckles between 86' and 89' changed. . To bad becouse the 86' ones had a cool AMC logo on the buckles.
The chief has been rolled onto its top and has to much body damage, I can salvage the skid plates and axles for my other Commanches. Good engine, transmission, transfer case the bed is in good enough condition too.
I am looking for some info on what was the off road package, I have the skidplates and heavy duty axle (dana 44) anyone know what tranny, and what kind of limited slip was stock in that axle? I am going to be removing all the parts from this 88 chief for a 4x4 swap eventually. :brows:
it has a nice looking rear bumper fabricated on it and it looks like the 44 up front was done very well if it is not stock yes it is an 86 so I am not positive on the rear.
I went and looked at the truck this morning the body is really straight needs paint, with only some surface rust red interior. Crappy dana 30 in the rear, but a dana 44 up front. I didn't they came with 44 fronts and 30 rears. PO says that the headgasket is blown is the reason the 2.8 is not running. I am getting the rig for $400 dollars now to get it 50 miles back home :brows:
I already have two. A 89 pioneer longbed, a 88chief shortbed (parts). Now I am going to look at an 86 with a bad 2.8 engine for 500$ It has a topper and bucket seats, which I am really after. Like I really need 3 comanches  Maybe put the bench in it and get the engine running and sell it. I will see tomarrow. Till then  :chillin:
Everyone do yourselves a fovor! If you havent allready throw out your crappy stock bottle jack as either mine is broken and won't fully extend or they are poorly designed. I found out the hard way on the side of the interstate on sunday. I now have an adequate scissor jack and the stock one is in the dumpster! The guys at the tire shop didnt take the tailgate off when they put my spare back and scratched the paint and bent the tag. :chillin: <<
I bought an 89' pioneer with great paint and stripes, body is straight, immaculate interior 188,000 miles (most are towing miles behind an RV) runs great needs muffler. 2wd 4.0 $1,650. I would not pay any more than $3,000 for one though.
If the high bidder is in this group and needs dome lights so bad... post a WTB domelights I'm sure he owuld have better luck than outbidding, quite possibly the sellers friend. Look farther and some lights with broken tabs have been bid up to over $16.00
OMG the domelights are up too $75.00!!! WTF
