Fixing Rear Wells
88SGTSlaughter replied to 88SGTSlaughter's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I know it's not in bad condition, that don't mean I should leave it or fill it with mud. I am ok with buyin a clean bed, then I can use this one for a bench project. My thin metal welding skills are not to good. But I could probably make it work. It won't look good enough to not run flares tho. And I really don't want them. But I may not have a choice. I guess I'll try to patch the small part, I have access to a 2 door at a shop. I'll see how it looks and go from there! Thank for all the responses. -
Is there anyone who sells replacements for the wells on the bed? Or is a new bed my only option other then doing the repair? I have considered flares but I'm not sure how I feel about them. I have trimmed them already and need to figure a solution because its whats holding me up from finishing the body. Its a 1988 MJ swb Best pic I have right now.

Ahh we get dumped on but it usually melts thn snows again. If we get 2' then we have a lot, that happens like once a year (in one snow fall). I just see walking alone in the snow ending badly. Which it did.

I didnt think about him driving up on a stump or rock. I guess its a bit different up there in the mountains. We get hammered with snow, but its not the same. Lots of changing factors up there like you said. I would have been a digging fool tho, specially before leaving the jeep and my wife/gf. (that would be the last thing I did)

Regardless of what they should of done, its a sad story. I feel bad for the families and it almost seems like they werent planning it and maybe were in the area and decided "hey lets take a ride" Anyone familiar with the snow situation in that area? I almost don't see how you couldnt dig yourself out tho, he did drive into it. IDK I guess a lot of the choices could be questioned even if it happen to one of us and it ended badly someone would be saying we should have done it a different way.

Going Rate For Full Width Axles?
88SGTSlaughter replied to 87Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Reading this made me think about putting 60's in mine. I alreadt have a 60 rear in garage and a few gear set choices and a new solid cover. hmmm I have to swap the axles anyways so why not right? anyways I say go for it! 60's are like 200$ rear 6-700 front. Ill most likely go to pull a part one dsay for the front. little more work but an extra 500+$ I will save and have to spend on the rebuild. -

Taps And Dies - What Sizes?
88SGTSlaughter replied to jamespwsullivan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
IT wouldnt hurt to get the HF set. I have a MATCO set, but I got the 144pc for 100$ I couldnt pass that up. I would never pay 400+ they are asking tho. And as stated when you replace them just buy a better make of tap/die. It will be easy on the pocket and if you eve need them that much it will be worth it. -

Motor/Trans/Tcase Question
88SGTSlaughter replied to 88SGTSlaughter's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So I found a auto trans and tcase from a 88 MJ, does anyone know what else would be needed to change my ax4 over? I want to pick these parts up but I would also like to know what else I would need to get in case these people have it. It will be almost a two hours drive so I don't want to go back if I don't have to. They also have a d30 non disco Edit: With the dakota bell housing what year would it be from, and what year ax15 would I need to find to work with my set up? -
