Thanks!

I'm assuming a SWB roll bar will not work on a LWB is this correct?
-
Where is the best place to get replacement lines? I'm assuming an auto parts store might sell it by the foot?
-
I'll have to take a look at the vacuum lines I didn't think of that. Thanks for the ideas!

Before I go messing around with stuff that I have no idea what it does. My heat adjuster to change where it blows is tough to move and when it does it stays on defroster. Any ideas?

A resto-modification. I've never really done any automotive work before so I'm learning as I go and its not my DD so its easier to work on. I do plan on lifting it and the goal is to get 35's. I've already began planning out the suspension. That's the next step after the interior is done.

Small update been spending a lot of time getting the interior squared away. I tackled the rust. For a New York truck there is really no rust on this thing, even on the frame. Ripped down what was left of the headliner. It literally disintegrated. Laid down some primer. My plans for the floor And this package was waiting by the door when I came home. In the mean time I have to start finding replacement parts for stuff like this:
-
It feels solid, I'm not particularly thrilled with it but for the moment it will work for me. Seems like swapping to a ax-15 or aw-4 is a headache!
-
Started taking apart the interior today. Got lucky with the floor boards, only surface rust. I will start to get rid of the rust and lay down some primer hopefully tomorrow.

For some weird reason when I was about 17 I became obsessed with Comanches so the hunt was on to find one. In 2009 I worked as a valet at a local bar/club and one day a Comanche appeared there, the owner had bought it and was using it as a work truck around the bar's property. I got side tracked and my Comanche addiction subsided for the time being. Aboout 2 weeks ago I drove past the bar and see it still sitting there, I pop in and ask the owner if he wants to sell it. He said he wasn't using it anymore and so it was all mine. I plan on pretty much restoring it from the ground up with some mild modification along the way! It's an 89 LWB 4x4, 4.0L with the ba10/5 :shake: and some PO accessories such as a boot and a few hundred packs of cigarettes. We jumped it and she started right up, hasn't been on the road since 09'. I sent my trusty friend (what a sucker) into the unique smelling MJ, threw a plate on the back and drove her home. Made it home safe and found a spot for it in the driveway with the parts hauler. The exterior is in pretty good condition no body rot, frame is solid, rear bumper is smashed, I guess for some reason anyone with a stock bumper likes to backup into things? Her temporary home so I can at least keep it some what dry while I work on the interior. Can't wait to start ripping into this thing! -Ryan

Where can I go to request a build sheet for my mj? Couldn't find it on any Chrysler site.

Can anyone give me a ball park number on the wheel base of a LWB MJ?

What is an MJ worth these days?

Looking at an 89 4x4 4.0 automatic in New Jersey. -
I live in an area where people think that because it says jeep and is more than 20 years old it is worth gold. I'm in the market to buy a Comanche and I'm just curious as to what the going rate is on a pretty good shaped, no rust and running MJ. Thanks for the help!
-
Been looking for a while now and can't seem to locate an mj in decent shape in the NY area if anyone knows of any please let me know! Thanks
-
No room or equipment (engine jack) to do a job like that let alone convincing to get one Comanche is hard enough. These things are just damn hard to come by but looks like the hunt continues.
-
Sounds like a perfect candidate for a 4x4 conversion.

Some more pics.

If that's the MJ in the pictures  I wouldn't pay more that $200 for that. And that's if the motor was puring like a kitten. I've bought better looking MJ's than that, ran had 4.0 4wd, AW4 for $300 and better looking body that that. Just a rodded out frame. I said in my reply, a little rust over the wheel well, that don't even have a wheel well left. Oh, it's repairable, but for a 2.5, 2wd :shake: There are a lot better MJ's out there that that one, for the $$ Thats not the one in the picture. The one in the pics is a 91' 4.0L 4x4 105K.
-
It might be worth it if i end up getting the MJ. :brows:

I'm up in New York, Long Island, But i also go to school 4 hours north of NYC.
-
Yes its just a matter of finding a bed, which i hope shouldn't be too hard.
-
Everything would get replaced eventually. the only thing stopping me from getting it is that rust on that one bed.
-
Well apparently the rust on the bed on the one side was a lot worse then i thought and it looks like the bed is ruined. The tailgate and other side can be saved but this is is shot. Not to many options to do now. Engine runs mint, interior is very clean front suspension and axle is unrusted and in good working order, rear suspension is in rough shape, shocks are rusted through, axle and leafs look good, and no rust holes in the frame anywear.

Thanks for the info guys, If i do get it I'll be restoring it and adding a lift and everything else :brows: so everything would get stripped down and replaced eventually which would take some time and I don't have to worry about it being my daily driver as i have my other jeep, I'm just tired of beating that one up on the trail. I'm 18 years old and wanted a Comanche for as long as i could remember but a good deal never crossed my path. I just hope the frame isn't shot or its back to the drawing board.
