Anyone in my neck of the woods suffer a power outage from last nights storms? 9 hours with no power for me and I just bought 300 in frozen good last night....pretty screwed, time to get a generator

what I was saying, and jim was nonsensically saying (thank you jim  ), is that every single time you don't want to hear something, you either change the subject, or you ignore it. which, you've completely decided to do in this thread...yet again.

i like how you keep doing what we say is causing your problem, sam. seriously...ignoring the advice just makes you a fool.

sunday night...11pm locally. anyone on this thing?

that's a perfect truck to build a wheeler out of. I want THAT for a wheeler. because it's still fairly straight, can be easily fixed, but isn't perfect, so it can be beat on without mercy. that said, it would be a good truck to fix up, too. that's not bad at all.

how about you just leave...

i think you're simply not educated enough to work on your vehicles without a "babysitter" per se. CC can't be used as a crutch, nor any forum. in the end, it's up to the user to develop the skills to do the work on their vehicles themselves. believe it or not, being a mechanic...be it hobby or professional, means that you have to be able to interpret literature. your whole dana 35 thread was pretty simple to understand..and you failed multiple times to understand the basic mechanical principals involved. maybe you understood it and just didn't want to take the advice (based on vast mechanical experience of the guys right here on the forum)...but generally, when multiple people all agree on something...the general consensus at the very least a proven theory, if not a fact. I'm sorry that you feel the way you do. I'm sorry that I come across as abrasive, and I'm sorry that you don't want to listen to what we have to say. What more do you want from us than to offer advice based on our experience? -Pat p.s. no one here is telling you that a dana 44 is your only solution...just that it's the best one. interesting that you hit on that note, when we actually emphasized how bad of an idea it is to use used gears, and that you were better off replacing the entire assembly.

high-flow, quiet mufflers...suggestions?
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
thanks for your advice. the srt4 injectors have a few more pounds than stock, but with a multiple port spray pattern, which allows better atomization. this is a '99 cherokee, my comanche is also '99 cherokee conversion...the srt4 injectors were direct plug and play. you'd have to modify wires to make them work on anything '96 and older. -
high-flow, quiet mufflers...suggestions?
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hell ain't quiet mate. What "performance" are you talking about? Just the Borla? stated multiple times. .030 bore, srt4 injectors, 2001+ intake manifold, 62mm tb, borla header, competition cam. not stock by any means whatsoever. the motor is out of my "utility build" comanche. has 12,000 miles on it. I have been having issues with my inner cochlea and some sounds I just cannot abide. your muffler sounds like the best bet, but I am not prepared to wait multiple weeks to get it...i need this fixed yesterday (migranes just from the noise driving the jeep...no leaks from exhaust, double checked) -Pat -
high-flow, quiet mufflers...suggestions?
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
put the flowmaster on. can't deal with the drone. put a straight pipe on. less of a drone than the flowmaster. I can NOT have ANY loud, constant "throaty" noises that last for any extended period of time. I will NOT put a stock muffler on, for fact that it will negatively effect the performance of my motor. i need a good balance in back pressure, and something quiet as hell. -
shick quattro here. I shave once every couple weeks. maybe a few if i feel adventurous. but really, I can grow about 21 hairs on my face that are 1/4" long, given a couple weeks.

high-flow, quiet mufflers...suggestions?
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If I wanted a flow master it would be done already...but thanks for the input. I'm probably gonna toss mine on and see how it sounds tonight Eagle, higher air and fuel intake make it necessary to go higher flow exhaust. That is all that needs to be said on the subject. -
Engine Swap - Simple Question (I Hope)
JeepcoMJ replied to summerinmaine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Remove the front clip instead. Easier to align by yourself than the hood. Pilot bushing is in the crankshaft on the 4.0. It will be a .750 ID bearing...not sure on the OD -
Engine Swap - Simple Question (I Hope)
JeepcoMJ replied to summerinmaine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
...Umm...no The throw out bearing is the throw out bearing. It pages the fingers on the pressure plate, which allows the clutch to disengage. The pilot bushing is located I the crankshaft and keeps the input shaft and clutch disk aligned to the crank shaft ... The new engine does not have one, and it is NECESSARY or you will destroy your transmission. Beyond that, three throw out its part of his slave cylinder. -
Engine Swap - Simple Question (I Hope)
JeepcoMJ replied to summerinmaine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Starter gear teeth are on the flex plate. The flex plate will face to be swapped in place of the flywheel. You will have to purchase a new pilot bushing (input bearing) for your year truck, and install it. there is no re using a pilot bushing...you destroy then to remove them. Once that is done, install the clutch and pressure plate. Hope that helps. New pilot bushing is under $ 10 btw -
high-flow, quiet mufflers...suggestions?
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
you missed the part where the motor has a higher flowing intake and fuel system, as well as a cam shaft which brings where the hp and torque curve meet to a lower rpm. 70mph is more like 1700 rpm with it right now. the restrictive exhaust is taking away from this motor. i can feel the difference between no muffler and a muffler, and i've driven 12k miles on this motor with a flowmaster...i know what the response should be, and it's just not there. thanks. i'll look at gibson. -
high-flow, quiet mufflers...suggestions?
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for your input, Eagle...as well as the rest of you guys. I will be abusing this jeep. nicely abusing it, if that's possible. the motor is bored .030 over with a comp. torquer type cam shaft, high flow oil pump, 2001 intake, borla header and cross-tube, 62mm TB, srt4 injectors. I NEED a higher flowing exhaust...the stock one is robbing it of power and affecting my mileage negatively. I've gotten as high as 24mpg with this motor in my mj running 35" tires on 4.10 gears. this xj is stock height with 3.07 gears and 235's. it looks like dynomax is going to be my choice. flowmaster series are just too loud. i know from personal experience, also cherry bombs. if I wanted one of those, I would not have said that they are not what i'm looking for. thanks, Pat -
Where can I find parts for the Diesel MJ
JeepcoMJ replied to Rebelfish99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
so far as i know, i own the last 3 comanche diesel timing belts that could be had in the states, and none of them are going anywhere (proud family diesel mj owners...plan to keep it around). There are cross-compatible belts out there, but it's going to be tough to find. in the meantime...don't even start that truck until the belt is replaced. and if the belt was bad when you got it, then inspect your valve train...rockers for cracks/breaks, and valves for bends, and cam for bad lobes. -Pat -
high-flow, quiet mufflers...suggestions?
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
gotta have room for that...i don't. thanks for your input. i'm looking for a single muffler that allows higher flow and goes in like it's stock. -
high-flow, quiet mufflers...suggestions?
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
both of those are too loud. combined won't help me. as stated, I have a flowmaster...and i'm not putting it on because it is too loud for a DD. but no, all I have is emissions...no smog. have to have a catalytic converter on anything '96 and newer, and they just plug in a scanner, if it doesn't have any check codes, it's good to go. -
so my '99 cherokee is running real nice...other than the crappy exhaust. the motor is set up for performance. I have a borla header and downpipe on it, among other things. basically, I need a fairly open and flowing muffler for this thing. I don't want it too loud, and I can't afford a cat-back system. I'd put my flowmaster 40 on it, but I just don't want it that loud. this is a daily driver, so i'd like it to be something that won't give me a headache. any suggestions? I was thinking dynomax...thrush welded series are too similar to the flowmaster in sound, and obviously cherry bombs aren't going to cut it.

thanks. put just over 100 miles on it yesterday with no issues. other than the loud annoyingly droning exhaust, it was a nice easy drive. need to find a high flowing, stock sounding muffler. this thing is definitely restricting my motor.

thanks, Bo between work and the xj, i've been wrenching a solid 15-18 hours a day this past week. i'm not happy that I wasn't able to make it a nice clean build and pay attention to detail. it will look nice, it does run and drive nice, but I just wish the engine bay was nicer.

thanks. i bought a box of billet machined oil caps just like it...keeping them for rainy days..but they only work on the older style aluminum valve covers.
