  1. I'm turning the MJ I just got into a trailer. sold the 2.5 engine already, it comes out this week and gets installed in a mint 86 cherokee. then I will cut the front half off, and also cut the cab section out and keep it for a cheromanche/4dr comanche project. I'd like suggestions as to what to do... at the moment, I'm gonna just get it built (by the end of spring...hopefully sooner given the time)...then fix the rear flares later on. but I'm planning on making a "wedge" shaped toolbox for the front...frame with diamond plate skin, fullsize spare w/ matching rim (canyons) on one side of that and the door on the other. flat top toolbox of course. stock tail lights, stock rear bumper. it'll be a 2" ball for sure. I have a nice lift thingy with a wheel on it for the front (forgot what they're called). brakes could be left intact...or put a actual trailer axle in it.... this would be mostly for show, but of course I'd use it alot. I just don't want to get rid of a easily-fixed bed, especially when the 89 will need a new one soon ....(inner wheel wells rotted too :(). the debate goes on as to use the stock frame-rails and build the hitch onto that, or to build my own... i'm  but it would be a nice little trailer...
  2. are you sure that's an actuator? it looks like a vacuum reservoir...if there are wires leading to it though, I bet that the cable coming out of the end goes to your throttle body. that would be a cruise control servo for an aftermarket cruise system.
  3. nuther canadian friend :D
  4. schweet!
  5. lol, it's ok correct that you're lena? I've invited a few people :P don't put a dana 35 in btw. upgrade it.
  6. hey, I didn't share your name.... :P how's the MJ comin along?
  7. got one waiting for that day in storage, ;) and I'm lining up an AX15 cause i can't imagine driving my truck wihtout shifting... having separation issues with the standard hehe, I'm gonna do it with a shifter joystick like you'd see on an arcade...shift through the 3 gears plus overdrive, downshift. placing it into D, N, and R will be accomplished with a custom setup I think...not sure how to do that yet, but I'll figure it out. oh, and the shifter will have a red button on top to lock in the torque converter...I'll put the gear indicator lights in the gauge cluster in the bottom of the tachometer. should be a pretty nifty little project.
  8. lol time for an aw4 with manual shift package...
  9. I feel like crap. well, I mean I feel sick. but then I feel like crap... the investment in the 89 has just lost value. as a result of this post, I've figured out that it's got a ba10/5 in it. that makes me sad. it also makes the $$$ I originally purchased it for too high...although I did get a dana 44 rear. and I got mint floors...bad rockers though. full skid plate package... well, thanks for the help...i guess :(
  10. agreed. it's nicer than the 3800 and I've got $7500 into it...
  11. He just didn't put in any pictures of it in slammed mode. Did you read the description, about pumps and hydraulics and switches? He's not talking about light switches, amigo. This baby's a gen-yoo-wine California low rider that'll sit at a traffic light and make like a Mexican jumping bean. I'll bid $50 and he can keep the wheels and tires. I read it, and i knew what he's talking about. the guy's listing is one of them types that I read...and about 1/4 way through it I decide there's too many things to list, and he should have just said that. I don't deal with that many different variables too well. life should be simple.
  12. strange...I was always certain that it was an optional thing? damn. I gotta double check the 89's tranny now...:(
  13. you could have a ax15 in an 88 if IIRC. pretty sure my bro has one...
  14. haven't worked on it this week. but since I'm parting out the 4 cylinder I got last week, I have new cab corners and yet another set of good rocker panels. haha, and I have a trailer to boot! I'll be finishing this truck slowly..school starts on the 4th of september, and I'm not home until about 9pm every day, and I leave at about 8am (drive 45 min, school, swim practice, then work up at school, then drive home :(). the cab corners and finishing the rockers won't be hard. then I just have to swap the lower springs into it...that will also fix my rear driveshaft issues. after that, undercoat the truck and rewire the fog lights, then I may swap on the black fender flares. it needs a sunroof...
  15. Is THIS a 297 ujoint? or are the non-cad axle-shafts just beefier? cause that's definitely a bigger axleshaft than any of my other trucks...
  16. CW, the bracket assembly is attached via a thru-bolt into the old CA mounting bracket. what else holds it on? if it's just that, then you've added more problems and not helped anything. I think if you're gonna do CA drop brackets, they should be temporary and if you need them, you need to go get a damn longarm. I don't enjoy being high up and having a gut feeling that my suspension is gonna brake because the week point is not properly reinforced and has no backing...you hit a bump going forward at speeds, BOOM your axle tilts backwards and on comes the carnage. I wouldn't spend the $$$ on a CA drop kit. ever. if you're doing that, just chop your LCA mounts out, make yourself two longer lower control arms...or longarms if you will...and create your own brackets for them. stronger by far and offers more area for mounting points to the frame. plus it wouldn't cost much.
  17. his is built better and I guarantee less money and more time will be spent on it...he's making it work for himself and it will really be something special. plus it's RHD so it's wicked cool. that cherokee is just retarded....it's not terrible looking in regards to paint, but interior is $#!&ty (opinion), and who in their right mind puts rims that small on a f*ing jeep and then has it jacked way up?
  18. oooh but just think of how it could pay for itself? you could get some nice emblems for your wall (like the star from the door on a police cruiser ), you could make little sculptures, the bead off junk tires on junk rims so you can get more $$$ for scrap, or even go use them as intended....
  19. ever use a plasma cutter :brows: I use one of my grandpa's (he has 3 for his business) regularly. it's very fun. and yes, I've seen my dad do some amazing things with a torch...it's really neat to watch.
  20. truth be told, we didn't use the torch much...just on the trackbar mount actually. everything else was cutoff wheel and sawzall :D
  21. No title. I'd make an agreement with the guy and keep it for a few years in a barn, and then go to DMV and tell them you saw it for the longest time on the dudes property, bought it cheap off him, and want to get a replacement title. It works under the abandoned vehicle rules in your state's DMV, or at least here in NY, it does... yep, no title. I'm scrapping it out. my mind is made, I want a trailer or at least a parts bed. I also want the materiel to make an extended cab comanche...here it is. I'll get some $$$ for the dana 35 rear cause it's 4.10's (yea, turdy-5 but it's still 4.10's), I need the springs for the 89 to lower it down, and the shackles too. then the doors match the 89 in color, so I can use them as my halfdoors (gonna plate the sills with diamond plate and leather instead of welding). sooo yeah. and I'm gettin ideas for exhaust from here... :D
  22. hehe. parted my friend Jake's xj today...it's almost done, just gotta yank the block, tranny, and rear axle, the cut it up into itty bitty pieces... my new topper :brows: oooh convertible! that's jake. this is a pic of the cut on the window frame... needed this chunk for his 93 rockers were nice...the ones on his 94 aren't. so me being the "expert" sawzaller... I got to cut them... all rockers taken off... right before we yanked the front axle...tip on the torch was bad so that was a b*tch to get the trackbar mount out... and putting it inside the building until tuesday... note the windield and windshield frame are gone...we wanted that gone too. gonna finish the rest on tuesday. the front axle had 297's so I assume it had abs. no real way of telling since all the wiring and stuff under the hood was gone when we got it (PO decided to get his $$$ out of scrap aluminum and copper...what a douche. but for $160). I payed jake $100 for the front axle and rear axle with 100,000 miles on them and functioning e-brakes (new brakes on it) :brows: that means that Jake's -60 on it so far, and when we take in the scrap metal, he'll be +70 at least whatcha think?
  23. Says who? RE's 5.5" kit for the MJ includes drop brackets (RE9900). We've sold several of these kits for the MJ and nobody ever said they don't work. We have a local customer who runs this kit and we've wheeled with him several times and have never had a problem with them. read the rest of it. you'll note that while I do cover the bases of it being able to function, the reinforcement brackets for the LCA drops will not work with a comanche LCA bracket. that's what I've been reading regarding them anyways.
  24. haha, that'd be sweet no more projects for me lol. I'm not gonna bother gettin the title...cuttin the truck up and partin out what I don't need. gonna keep from the driver's seat back on the body (including rockers and roof) and see how well that would meld onto the back of my longbed parts truck. if it looks viable as a 4 door/2 door extended cab, I will do that...eventually. I may just make a trailer...
