  1. the existing spring perches measure 42 outside to outside. It has five lug axles in it. I am gonna measure my mj again but i was thinking they were 43" out side to outside.
  2. I thought I had seen on here sometime ago about guys using the rear axles out of the toyota trucks as an upgrade. But I don't remember who or where and when I try to search for anything I can't find anything. So if someone could help me out I would appreciate it. I have found a rear end out of one of the dually model toyota trucks which is five lug and the removable third member. The guy wants 50 bucks for it and if it is better than the 35 I want to get it. Please help
  3. Looking good. where did you get your front bumper at? I still havent got one for mine and like the looks of yours.
  4. even if its not complete junk cut them for now and buy new ones down the road. I just bought two brand new fenders for mine for $60 and painted, installed, and cut away on them.
  5. What do I need to do to get a sticker for my mj? One of these stickers would look good next to my jeep jamboree collection.
  6. I am planning on runnig my ac compressor as an air compressor. It should work just like a york style. I have a couple buddies that have done this as well.
  7. i will get you the nuts you need as well and bolts as well. we have 10 x 1.25 here at work.
  8. if you want simplicity of bolt on then here you go......http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6-5-Roug ... enameZWD1V or you can do....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Com ... enameZWDVW they also offer a 6.5 inch bolt on spring over.
  9. If you don't wanna do spring over then do the rustys 4.5 and get some 2 inch shackles. then you will have a bolt on 6.5. I personally would do rustys all the way around but thats me
  10. spraying the carb cleaner in the intake will not hurt your engine while it is attached. Go to any local dealer and ask how they do it. I watched them pull the vehicle in take the air intake off and spray away. I have sprayed the stuff directly into my throttle body and never had a problem. Only thing it does is make your engine rev a little higher at idle.
  11. how many are you missing cause i may have at least one out of the black cherokee we got your linkages from. and i can get some from here at work.
  12. I wouldn't do that. So what if everyone else thinks its unsafe or doesn't like how you did it. You built it to suit your needs not theirs. My mj is in alot worse condition than yours safety wise and i drive it back and forth to work when i want to. Everyone has there own opinion on things. If it works for what you want then you have a very nice trail rig. If not then tear it apart and start over.
  13. he meant aw-4 he just bought one off of me over the weekend.

    got a ticket

I have liability on my jeep and the insurance comapany knows what I use it for. Some road driving but mostly offroad. They won't cover anything that happens on the trail but if it gets broke into or someone hits me while I'm driving it is all covered.
  15. The engine just had a once over when it came out of the cherokee. new rear main, pan gasket, timing chain and cover gasket, may need a tune up though
  16. Has anyone done this on one of there jeeps and have a write up of it. I am wanting to do this to my manche and was wanting to see how some people have done it to save me lots of trial and error.
  17. Has anyone tried or seen anywhere where somebody has took out the 231 and put a 300 in its place. I have searched on the internet but have come up with what looks like I just flip it and bolt it right up. Any input would be helpful.
  18. Are you looking for a replacement for your jeep or a conversion. I have an ax-15 in a 94 cherokee i am parting out and live in indiana and would sell for $75.00. Let me know if your interested
  19. What is the welding on the front axle by the hog head for?
  20. My brothers xj had 280000 on it before it gave up. Still ran good just lost power one day. Pulled the head off and found #3 piston had a hole in it. Priced long block around here and they ran about 1500 bucks. Found a block from a 96 with really low miles from a wreck, honed and re ringed it and runs like a champ now. took about 2 months to pull rebuild and put back in.

    Dodge Ram 2500

I'm not 100% sure but I think they share the same transmission. It should be 48RE. I don't know a whole lot about the autos other than most guys around here say get a stick up until the new 07 6.7.

The automatics in those are ok up to a certian point. If you plan on adding any upgrades to the engine i would look for a manual tranny. The two wheel drive is not that big a deal just don't plan on leaving a hard surface anytime soon. I have a 00 4x4 cummins with pro comp mud terrains and if the ground is the slightest bit soft i get stuck. You figure that 2000 pounds of weight up front doesn't help. That model is alot quieter than the 98.5-02 as well. First year for the common rail and should be the first for a 300 horse engine. Lot less problems to deal with in the 03 than the earlier models worring so much about lift pumps and injection pumps. Once again any upgrades to performance and a beefier fuel system helps. Not sure on anything other than the engine. Check all your common oil level, coolant level, belts, listen for noises in the rear end. Check for a straight pipe and possible signs of use at the local truck pulls too. I work for cummins so any questions on these trucks I can be of assistance.
  23. I have a set of 3" spacers that were custom made at a machine shop here locally that I have just sitting around. I would be willing to sell and ship to you. Shoot me a price if you are interested.
  24. It looks like he is using a drop bracket of some sort in the pictures.
  25. I personally like the hodge podge lift. Unless you have never been wheeling before to know what kind of terrain you will be on. I have Rustys 6.5" coils, RE drop brackets which make it ride down the road great and flex is amazing too, spring over in the rear with 2" lift leaf pack that was on the jeep when i bought it. Everything came off of ebay and the price you would pay for that size of lift from a dealer is what I have in my entire jeep. I built mine based of the wheeling I do. Lots of trails with hills, some rock, and some mud. Here in Indiana not much on the rock but lots of nice hilly terrain and off camber stuff.
