  1. Got the drive train swapped over yesterday. Both crossmembers off both Jeeps were garage so need to go by the junk yard someday and pick up a good one. With me starting my new job tomorrow I wanted to at least get this part done before then. The rest of this swap can be done a few hours at a time which I can do after work some days. This build is probably gonna slow down a bit now but I am still planning on having the swap done and it painted by the end of the summer.
  2. Wanna buy it? Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Picked up a donor today. Paid a little more than I would have liked but since it is a factory 5 speed 4x4 power everything Jeep I was okay with it. This way I already have the hard to find 97+ 5 speed cherokee parts as well as the fold forward seats and the 2 door master switch. The Jeep however is missing a few things like AC components and a cruise module though it did come with both options from the factory. As for the cruise module I will be pulling that off my 01 XJ. I may pull the AC stuff off of it too but still not sure on that yet. Being a straight trail rig AC and cruise aren't all that needed but since the AC does work I might not mess with it and just get those parts elsewhere. Once I make a little room in the garage I will start tearing this Jeep down to have it ready for the drivetrain swap then shortly after the interior swap.
  4. Okay so if anyone on here knows me I tend to get a little impatient sometimes lol so I decided to tear into this Jeep over the weekend. I am going to pick up a donor sometime this week. Really don't have the space I did with my last swap so want to pull what I need off the donor and get rid of it as quick as I can. That way I can have more room for final assembly. That's part of the reason I decided to go ahead and strip the manche down. Just one less step I have to worry about it. Everything is pretty much ready for the swap other than I still have to pull the motor and trans but I won't do that till I have the new motor to go back in. Need to get everything done for the interior install first and fore most so I can hopefully get it off to paint soon. I know a stated this would be a slower build but looking at the Jeep as it was and what I wanted to do I realized that doing the swap now and getting done quick would solve some of the little issues I had the with the Jeep right away and make it a little more enjoyable right off the bat. Once the swap is done I'll probably slow back down when it comes to actual mods and such but for right now I'm just trying to get the swap done and the jeep painted hopefully by the end of the summer.
  5. For those who enjoyed this build I finally picked up another comanche last weekend. I missed owning this one ever since I sold it that since I am now in a somewhat better situation I picked up another. Gonna have this new one more of a DD/mild trail rig and be able to drive it a decent bit. So if you're still subscribed to this thread move on over to my new thread where I will be more than likely attempting another 97+ swap along with taking it a little further than this build here..
  6. Finally back in the MJ world! Picked up this 87 SporTruck on my way back from delivering a FSJ I had sold. I've been wanting another one ever since I sold my 89/99 a few years back. I had been looking for one for a few months trying to find the right deal. Scooped this one up running and driving for less than a grand so its the perfect canvas for what I'm wanting to do. It does have its little issues but mainly just needs some maintenance and a good cleaning. It is 2wd but will convert it a little on. I am gonna try to build a DD sort of Jeep with this. I still have my 1 ton XJ but been wanting to take a few steps back with this truck not build something so crazy and keep its main purpose to be driven with an occasional light trail ride, using mostly off the shelf parts. Really just wanting a driver to try and save some miles on my truck. I may do a 97+ swap later on if I can find the right donor but for now its just gonna get its little issues worked out, converted to 4wd, a lift, some tires and a good cleaning. Its good to be back!!
  7. Yeah but a 10.25 doesnt have near as much aftermarket support as a 60 and the parts that are there are more expensive.
  8. I know I know.. but I have way much more in my XJ.. If I didn't have so much in it I wouldn't have to think twice about keeping the manche and selling the XJ but I didn't really feel like starting over with a Jeep when I had one that was pretty much where I want it, But again there will be another one later down the road. I love these trucks and always will.. Just need to get through school and get a real job so I can actually afford it.
  9. I know and I miss her already! but I couldn't afford two Jeeps and I made more then double my money selling it.. I will build another one day but being a full time college student, just doesn't seem logical. With the lack of an extra Jeep I'll have more time for school and my XJ.
  10. That seems to be throwing money at it while not knowing the true issue. He's only running 33s. It shouldnt be as bad as he says. I run 35s on factory brakes on my XJ and I can lock them up.
  11. That would be the first thing I checked.. I lock the wheel up with the adjuster then back it off a few turns.. Ill lock a set of 35s up in the rear before the front on my XJ
  12. are the drums adjusted properly?
  13. Got the manche pretty much finished today. Still need to get some sun visors but have already put it up for sale. Asking $6500. PM me in anyone is interested..
  14. Got a few things done the last few days. First off I lined the bed. Did it with some rust-oleum roll in bed liner, turned out pretty good. Also got the carpet cut box carpeted. Just need to mount it in so it won't move. And last I replaced the tie rod. Hoping to have it done in the next few days.
  15. thanks! yeah I had a set of 2dr seat hinges but probably not going to end up using them.. Idk I might though, we'll see.
  16. That was requested. I actually had them install a 1999 XJ window because of the rubber seal. I had to do this because the place I had it done at said that everything comes in a kit so since the older ones didn't have the rubber seal it wouldn't come with it. and since I am doing a '99 swap I just had them put in a '99 window
  17. Got the truck back from the windshield place today. Got it all in and looking good. Now just need to finish up with the front axle, line the bed, replace the tie rod, and order some interior lights and that should conclude this build..
  18. Small update. Taking the truck Wednesday to get a windshield put in. I'm in the middle of converting the front disconnect axle to non disco. Noticed the tie rod is all bent out of shape so that needs to be replaced.
  19. Got back from Saudi Friday and today has been the first time Ive been able to work on the truck. I think I have fixed the death wobble but still haven't tested it out yet.. The upper track bar bolt was extremely loose. Tighten it up and the steering feels a lot better now. Built a little box to cover the rear harness and where I cut the XJ carpet to fit the Comanche, will probably carpet it next week sometime. Also picked up some new seats. Bought some new ones with detachable headrests for my XJ incase I decide to run harnesses and will be putting my old ones in the manche.. New for my XJ: What's going in the MJ:
  20. Got the Seat belts and the rest of the interior panels in today.
  21. Got the exhaust done today. Told the guy I wanted something fairly inexpensive somewhat, quite but still having a tone to it.. He chose a turbo tube muffler with a catalytic converter. I think it turned out great. Its not as loud as my XJ but still you know its there which is what I was going for.
