:headpop: how do i resize these %$#@ pictures? :headpop: -
Gonna need a hand with this fellas. I Found a write-up for just this project, but now i can't find it again. :( I have all the cutting, grinding, and tiger paw wheels you could want, and will be purchasing a mig soon (wish i could afford a miller :( ) but I would like to know where to go from here before I really screw up my chances of making a decent repair. What is the best way to cut those darn spot welds? I have ONE, 3x3 sheet of 11g cold roll, and FIVE, 1x1 sheets of 22g. thanks guys

http://nashville.craigslist.org/pts/3146602907.html There it is boys, yes i realize its not cleaned up, i was tired, and i won't be able to clean it for quite sometime, i just wanted to get it out there and see what happens. :chillin: the gear ratio is 2.72, is that norm? :dunno: I have read the 231 is the more desirable of the t-cases, should i keep it and just swap trannys? and what does the J mean? -

ax-15 for aw4: craigslist
ftpiercecracker1 replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I can get pictures to show up, but they are HUGE. I have read through the walk threw a dozen times and i still can't figure out how to resize them in a way that effects the picture once its on CC. I can resize them on photobucket, but it makes no difference once they are on here. :dunno: -
I wanted your guys opinion on an ad I am about to post to craigslist. I have removed and ready to go a 5spd, AX-15 out of a 1990 jeep comanche, mated to a 231-J transfer case, I would like to do a TRADE for an AW4 with t-case, in just as good if not better condition. There are approximately 174,000 miles on my trans, don't know if its ever been rebuilt, but it has never let me down. Shifts perfect in all but the most extreme applications. transmission will come with EVERYTHING you need. clutch, pedal, master cylinder, bell housing I am open to it, if you would like to buy it outright, but i would have to get enough to afford to pay for another transmission and t-case, plus the wiring harness and other dodads necassary for the swap. If you don't know much about these transmissions, look em up. They are reguarded as the best manual to ever be put behind jeeps 4.0 inline six. By the way what year(s) can this swap be done with? again mine is a 1990 mj, I just discovered today that it originally WAS an auto, uncovered the old shift boot and "power-comfort" switch, but sadly no TCU :(

The coil and module where a good place to start, but before you spend any more money check for the essentials FIRE, FUEL, and AIR 1. pull a couple of plugs and make sure spark is getting to the cylinders 2. test fuel pressure, if yours is injected, there is a nipple on the end of the fuel rail that can be tested with a pressure tester, if yours is carbed, i guess you could just pull the incoming fuel line and. . . a. if its a mechanical pump, just turn the engine over a couple times and have someone report if fuel is coming through the line b. if the pump is electric just turn the key on, might take a few trys, and have someone watch the line 3. air, just make sure nothing is clobberd up, other than that i don't know what to tell ya. there are a LOT of other things that can keep your truck from starting, but these are some of the first steps i like to take when dealing with a new problem. Hope it helps :wavey:

we both had the same thought, but on those newer 4wd systems do you think they use heavier duty hardware, U joints, bearings? or are they just the same and my brother is just being overly cautious?

cant find replacement E brake
ftpiercecracker1 replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Did you try adjusting the under bed bracket? I think that is the one that is designed to be tightened. As for me i think that i will try and find another e brake assembly, possibly from a different jeep and try to rig something up. dunno, i've got plenty of time to figure something out. -
cant find replacement E brake

i pm-ed you, never heard back. I am interested, if you didnt get the message -
E brake assembly has had it, along with the bracket under the bed, actually, the whole setup needs replacing. I looked around and have found a few places that carry the cables or what appears to be the cables, but i have batted zero when it came to finding the assembly that bolts to the inside of the cab. I've heard these trucks are notorious for having POS e-brakes let me know where i can find a new one, thanks please don't say dealership, please don't say dealership, please don't say dealership

The things that line the inside of your fender wells, mine are 100% trashed, are these items interchangeable between cherokee and comanche? i plan to clean the hell out of the cavity above spray with implement/tractor paint and install new liners and stock fenders.

plan to go SOA in the rear, sooo trying to piece together something for the front and came across these guys. http://www.topguncustomz.com/p-9421-65- ... nche-.aspx http://www.topguncustomz.com/p-9057-dro ... -lift.aspx 6.5 coil springs, made by RC, sold by Top gun custom, 2 for $130, figure i can get a spacer if i need a little more to level it out they also have a 6in drop pitman arm for $70, good deal? bad? when i have read about people lifting their comanche i've heard them talk about adjustable track bars and adjustable control arms, but i don't really understand what is required. Will any shock due so long as it has apropriate travel? Also wouldnt it be called a four link in the front since there are four control arms holding the axle still? Would all of them need to be replaced? i know this has been rehashed a thousand times, but i don't know how to find previous posts

If you drive reasonably it performs flawlessly, effort less shifting, very smooth, its just when you romp on it you can hear the sycros grind pretty bad, 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd are the worst, but it still shifts fairly easily and stays put. I will tell you, I have ran the piss out of this transmission, DD, offroad, some hauling and have never had any problems, save the sycronizers. If you are interested in buying, i am interested in selling. Middle TN is my local. I would like to get enough out of it to pay for at least half of an AW4 swap. The transmission is still in the truck, but the bed, engine, and wiring harness have all been removed, so dropping it should be a cake walk.

thanks for the link, after reading through it from what i can understand, going from a 5spd to an auto REQUIRES a totally new harness, but other than that its pretty simple. just take off the old and bolt on the new. I figure if i can just pull the wiring harness out of the donor, my entire engine bay has be cleaned out so i have TONS of room to work with. Even if i use an AW4 out of an XJ, the harness "should" be identical right? minus the few extra plugs for the transmission. If i don't go with the AW4, and need to reuse the AX-15 where can i find a complete rebuild kit for it? sycros are going out and dropping in an ultra torquey stroker motor isnt going to help matters.

I put a bunch of questions together so that it would not clutter up the main pg and to save some clicking time, thought it might be a good idea. Manual to Power windows. Can i take the guts out of an xj from the same year and use them in my mj so that i can have power windows? I have torn apart my MJs door and put them back together several times so i am not new to it. and i have wired power windows up before in another project, AND i know that XJs and MJs are more or less identical from the cab foward, but i want to just double check before i get waist deep. AX-15 to AW4 swap Anybody done it? Should I pull one from a junkyard? Do i have to mess with the computer? What size stall/torque converter? What has to be converted? Bed Liner i have a heavy duty "drop-in" liner, but it has a LOT of gouges and wear, under neath it my bed is in darn near perfect condition ZERO rust, just a hand full of places where the hard liner rubbed on the bed and has wore through the paint and is on bare metal. What, if any, bed liners have you used? Is there some other kind of protective coating i can apply and just put the Hard liner back in place? I have done some research, but it is inconclusive.
