  1. its great to see so many mj's popping up on all the forums I'm use to and local groups, that i never new exsisted, its like once you get a comanche you see all the other comanches around you that were always right there just never saw them. anyways here's the pictures as promised, its always got to go alittle down hill before it can get better the switch location for the power windows, there will be no switches on the actual doors and my old door cut, just need to do all the metal work however this project may slightly be slowed, iv decided to sell my old jeep tj body and frame and put my drivetrain in to a retired pro mod chassis. The plan is to work on this thing week nights and work on my buggy weekends. here's a picture of the buggy back in its glory days before it was torn apart. I will eventually get a picture as it sits now once we pull it out of the corner it is buryed in. I now have to many projects and not enough time to do it all but I'm sure gonna try my best.
  2. for a quick update the body work has begun and a few other projects. I was welding on the door patching some holes and i guess i didnt have my head on straight and managed to shatter the driver door glass. Well a quick decision was made that i would go and get a complete door as i wanted to make half doors for the comanche, the weather stripping was bad in the one i had and the fact that it now had no glass, so the old door is being turned in to a half door. Went to lkq and the only good door with no damage had electric windows at first i planned to gut it and put my manual window parts in, after a while of thinking i figured out how to get the electric window to work so its staying and when i get the passenger door for it eventually ill get one with a electric window also to match the driver side. So as of now i have a green door that has a chrome door handle and mirror, thats window does not work yet and splotchy primer gray driver side. Needless to say its looking pretty sad right now but am excited to see the final out come. Pictures to come later
  3. anyone ever use the duplicolor paint shop system i heard you got to buff it to get a good finish but seems pretty easy to use. I'm planning on doing the candy apple green then laying on some matte clear to flatten it. Any thoughts or anyone have experience with it.
  4. drove it  finally got it registered and tagged and i got a shifter knob for it
  5. i just got the dynomax muffler on my dodge v8 and it is nice and quiet and according to the box it flows more air then most mufflers. Who knows how true the box is they could be making that stuff up but it is quiet and has some valve on it to control the droning noise you hear when at idle and at highspeeds. don't know how it sounds on a 6cyl but on my v8 its great.
  6. interior all done just needs the radio installed, now less then 2 weeks before i start driving it
  7. ^ to many, i have signed up on over 8 but keep up with atleast 5 different ones > i got a comanche instead of a scooter and started liking comanches after much talk on a thread of one that had been wrecked, i have owned 5 differnet vehicles two of which are jeeps and have only been driving for 4 years\ V where is the best place youve wheeled? or wheeling trip youve been on?
  8. Donkey

    Florida?

I'm in tampa would be awesome to meet some of the other mj owners around the area.
  9. stockinteriors.com it did not lay down as well as id like and if you notice in the driver foot well the heel pad is placed slightly up the trans tunnel. But for 135 shipped it was not to bad and i can live with it. I'm going to get rubber floor liners and should fix most the issues i have with it.
  10. finally got around to uploading the pictures i have, the last pictures are of the carpet installed just have trim to paint and install along with get headiner covered and installed and find some black seats out of 97 and up xj. and the carpet installed
  11. guess its time to update my project. So far i got both seat brackets modified and bolted in. Then i went to work patching the rust spots in the floor i had 5 spots that i cut out the bad section and welded in a replacement piece. Then i treated the surface rust and remaining areas of rust with ospho rust treatment which kills the rust. Then applied duraglass to the remaining sections filling in any small holes. Then used duplicolor professional undercoating with sound eliminator on the entire floor. That is where i am at now just waiting for my carpet which i ordered from stock interiors yesterday hoping it will be here by the end of the week. Last weekend after not finding any comanches at the first junk yard i went to 3 weeks ago, i decided to try the clearwater lkq and found 3 comanches one that was pretty much untouched. I managed to find every interior panel i was missing or wanted to replace, a headliner, center console lid, the comanche badges, black window cranks, and even a couple piece that were missing i didnt realize i needed as this is the first comanche iv ever messed with. Picked all of that up for 50 bucks. I will post up pictures later once i get them uploaded.
  12. I heard they are sending people and trucks from the power companys down here in tampa. I wish i had the means to load up the jeep and some supplys and go up and help.
  13. I'm leaning towards the mango tango to, but there is a color similar to it on the dodge charger thats slightly darker and more orange that I'm also interested in. Well here's some updated pictures of the late model xj seat bracket iv been working on. So far i got the rear mounts set up properly and have been working on the front of the mounts. Got the right side of the bracket pretty much setup the way it should be just need to add one or two more pieces for support. Then its on to the left side of the bracket then repeat everything on the driver seat.
  14. I thought that black interior might be rare, I had never even seen a black interior in a early model xj before I saw that one. Came out of a Cherokee chief at LKQ in Tampa. Didn't grab the door panels because they had all electric windows same with the seats. Also had a Dana 44 in it. If your interested in going to grab stuff off it shot me a pm and I can tell you rigt where it's at in the yard.
  15. Here is my new project. Its a 88 MJ, Short Bed, 4 Cyl, 5 Speed, 2 Wheel Drive It had head work done right before i bought it and the entire cooling system has been replaced. It had no dash, and a pair of seats from a newer xj. The Plans the plans -has no interior so i need a dash, headliner, carpet and either seats or seat covers because I'm turning the interior black -need two rust spots in floor pan patched -new tires -paint -bedliner -rear axle with 4.11 gears -it came with a transmission and t case to convert it to 4 wheel drive so eventually do that and put in front axle here's the work i did so far this weekend here's what the dash looked like before i bought it pick this stuff up at the local junk yard and the new pieces installed and the seat bracket mods so far here's the color choices i have so far Mango Tango or Synergy Green
