Cool thanks for all the replies,I've already contacted a supplier on one of their upgrade kits and was told it's compatible with a stock height jeep,I've replaced literally EVERYTHING that can wear in the front suspension and did an alignment myself to avoid D.W and since I'm planning on keeping my manche for a looong time I would rather upgrade what seems to be a problem child on these suspension's.
  2. Is there a company that makes a track bar upgrade for the factory height 2WD comanches? I've done a search and all I found was upgrades for ifted xj and mj's.
  3. Sounds like a good place to start,do these axles have an endplay adjustment?

I let my brother borrow my manche yesterday ,he told me the truck felt like it had a flat intermittantly and he said while it happened his girlfriend (driving behind him) was able to see the rear wheels moving side to side? I'm assuming my diffs on its way out, have any of you guys experienced this before? this has happened to me before also and it happens just for a few seconds maybe a minute tops then goes away. 89, 4.0/AW4,2WD,D35,short bed
  5. I somewhere online that the newer (post renix) IAT sensors can be used in the renix era 4.0's with some wiring mods.is there any truth to this? has anyone here in the forum ever done it? this will be on an 89 4.0/aw4 2wd manche,thanks.
  6. Oh Ive heard the gas mileage is worse that stock. Maybe its because youve got all of those extra horses to feed and the people driving and reporting back like to let them sing. :???: :dunno: :ack: I'm sorry I don't get it
  7. You're right the 4.7 sounds much better, you guys think it will make a big difference in gas mileage?

I've been planning on building a 4.0 on the side to replace my tired one, but the thought of upgrading to a mini stroker sounds tempting along with a bored TB, and some 5.0 injectors,,, how easy or difficult is it to actually accomplish? I would stick with the factory 89 renix block, head and injection set up are there any pitfalls or things to look out for? I'm mechanically inclined and except for the machining I would do the work.

  11. Yup checked out at a solid 35psi, I've even "primed"the system and pinched the return line to no avail.
  12. IT TAKES LITERALLY ABOUT A FULL MINUTE OF CRANKING (I PAUSE SO I won't KILL MY STARTER) once the engine gets to operating temp it fires up the way a renix usually does

Ok guys I've been struggling with trying to get my Manche to start easier when the engine is cold (ie first morning startup) I've replaced the crankshaft position sensor with a mopar piece and did the whole bypass trick the factory would sell the kits for back in the day, cleaned the $#!& of the TB and IAC valve passages, next on my list is a timing chain replacement, indexing my distributor and a new coolant temp sensor, any input will be welcome, thanks in advance.

  15. Oh and I adjusted the tps with a snap on mt2500 scanner to .83 volts

I've tested sensors to the best of my cheapo craftsman DMM's ability and have cleaned the ground by the dipstick and the one to the firewall, I really want to start replacing sensors with as many factory parts as I can but every time I call a dealer the guy on the other line always sounds like its a chore to look up parts for my 89, are there any sites were I can look up factory stuff?
  17. I checked for vacuum leaks already and didn't find any, I replaced the TPS not too long ago but ill admit I used "standard" after market parts.
  18. My stock 89 4.0 Comanche started idling high when I first start it (does it when cold and at operating temp) I cleaned the throttle body and IAC valve but still no luck, any one have this problem before?
  19. Does anyone have manual steering on a 4.0 Manche? (Automatic tranny)If so is it difficult to live with on a daily driver?

  24. Do you guys think getting a high temp coating (I.e jet hot coatings) on the factory renix 4.0 exhaust manifolds will help them last longer?
  25. Thanks for the reply, what do you mean if "I use a shop press the arms will go really fast" do you mean they'll buckle and deform, or I'll be able to get it done quickly?
