Today I finally finished installing new coil springs. Mom and I took a test drive down a washboard dirt road... Hardly noticed it!! So now I think she wants me to redo the suspension on her 03 KJ... We also don't know why I get better gas mileage.. I get around 17.5 to 19.8 and she gets 17 mpg.. -
V8 in a Comanche?
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So may have issues getting a 4.7 in? I know the grand Cherokees had v8s that's about all I want.. -
Anyone put a v8 in their Comanche? We had a 04 Dodge that had the 4.7 V8 and we loved it. I would like to have something with a little more go than the 88 I-6.. It would be going in soon to be mine Red Comanche that is currently motorless. If I where to ask my cousin he would just say put in a 454... Any thoughts? Thanks

What To Do After a Cluster Swap...?
Blue88Comanche replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
if you get a cluster with the gauges you want (i went from the the bottom pic to one with a tach) that match your current style. just swap the speedometer.. check out my build thread to see what i did. saturday i am goin to pick up another comanche.. if it has the cluster i want you can have my old one.. it has everything BUT a Tach. just swapped speedometer new old cluster -
This weekend I will be going to pick up a red 1988 MJ. It is 2WD, auto tranny but no engine, it had a 4.0. Bench seat, full gauge cluster with tach. no head-liner or floor carpet. I plan to get it fixed up for my new DD. Should I put a I-6 in it or take this as a good time to drop a bigger engine in it? Any Ideas for things that should go in?

Coil Spring question
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Only after I posted what year, that I remembered the years I can use... I am going with 1997 v8 grand Cherokee variable coil spring, unless other wise told not to do so. Any opinions? I can pretty much try out any stock part that advanced auto parts sells... Try and return if need be... I know everyone who works there but one person... So other than my MJ staying on my parents patio while I wate for parts I am in no hurry.. Should be getting the second set of springs in tomorrow.. The first set was wrong year.. Any good sway bar links to buy? Brand, type? I broke one today and figured it was time to upgrade anyway.. Thanks -
Coil Spring question

what year v8 grand cherokee springs will work? -
I am looking to upgrade from my Dana 35 to a 44 and was wondering what the best way to find the gear ratio in my Dana 35 and my future 44.. assuming stock is there a spot on the axle that would say what it would be? I will post my Engine RPM Tire size and speed when I get home.

quick question..
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ok... round 2.. I was unable to get the springs on yesterday.. Because when we went to get the u bolts i thought i was going to need Lee's explorer dies as we where getting onto the interstate headed home... we where able to limp to the next exit and call for a ride home... but the explorer was left in town... well when we got home we where going to use my F-250 and his trailer to recover his car but My dismantled Jeep was in the way to get the trailer so we had to use the Farm all and pull the trailer across the field to my grandfathers house.. as Lee was about to back up the 1930s something farm all tractor it decided to get stuck in first gear. we had to push the tractor to the trailer to hook it up... after that we did get up to my grand fathers where I was going to hook up when i noticed that my dad had the 1 1/4 inch ball hitch and not the 2 inch on the receiver and he also lost the key to the pin... getting the small ball off was not hard but while trying to get the 2 inch off we nearly removed the vice bolted to the work bench.... so i ended up buying another stupid 2 inch ball for that truck.. thankfully going to Mobile getting the explorer and returning home went well... other than we originally left to get parts at 11:30am and it is now 6:45pm.... we where able to make some headway on the Jeep finally but decided to go de-stress at Hooters around 8... we left hooters at 11:50pm  .... when we got home we worked on my Jeep till 2am and called it quits for the day... Also Lee is not allowed to touch any of the heavy farm equipment or cars in fear of something going horribly wrong.. -
