Update: I took apart the speaker on the driver's side of the '96 XJ (the purple and blue with red stripe wiring was from the passenger side) and I noticed that the wiring on the driver's side was green and brown with a red stripe. Also, the black wiring had a narrow terminal and the white wiring had a wider terminal. Thanks again.

My MJ had an aftermarket Jenson installed. I removed the door panel to find one black and one white wire going to the speaker. I have new speakers out of a '96 XJ with one purple and one blue with a red stripe going to the new speaker. Which colors correspond? TIA -RED DOG

Door gaskets leak at the top sometime. Garden hose spray with the door shut to check for this. The fire wall leak around the fuse panel drove me crazy for some time. Kept trying to seal it up utill I realized, the hood gasket was dry rot and allowing the water to run down the fire wall in the first place! Short of changing the gasket, I pushed a piece of 1/8 inch diameter round home insulation foam (Frost King) into the inside of gasket to give it some of it's orginal profile back. Worked great. If you still have a problem, read this thread I posted on. Front turn signal sockets have a history of causing the symptoms you are describing. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopi ... highlight= Red Dog

My 87 was just a few hundred more than 10K. SWB 2WD, 4.0 with auto and A\C. Sportruck with vinyl interior. It was fast off the lot, and S-10s, Rangers, and Dakotas would not even think about trying to take it on. The few that did quickly found out why. :brows: Red Dog

Bought my MJ new in 87 and drove it for almost 20 years before the wreck. Rebuilt the engine once and performed more misc repairs than I care to remember. I was just hoping for this after all those years of loyalty to Jeep pick-ups. http://www.automobilemag.com/future_car ... gladiator/ I can still dream.

This is the way I was taught, and still teach this method to my scouts. It's based on the fact that YOU are the one in trouble, and the guy above you has NO knowledge of Knots, and throws you down a line. First you make a loop with the loose end on top, pointing at you, because you are the one who needs to be saved. Next, around your waist, then the rabbit comes out of the hole and around the tree and back down the hole. Pull tight and signal you are ready to be pulled up. Neat Site that demonstrates the method I was taught, and still teach to my my guys. http://www.apparent-wind.com/knots/bowline/

Dog gone it, forgot why I started the reply in the first place. Happens when you get old. As an Older and Wiser Scoutmaster advised me while I was going through Woodbadge Training; "We loose a lot of good scouts to fumes!" Be aware of the following: "Perfumes and Exhaust Fumes!!" :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

This blows me away! Had no idea that so many of you guys were former Scouts, OA Members, Eagle Scouts, AND Current Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, and Crew Advisors (Venturing)! No wonder this site is so Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent! I should have caught on to this from the start! :clapping: I am currently serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster for my son's troop going on 5 years. He has finished his Eagle project and needs to submit his final write up and pass his board of review. Almost there. :D Strong supporter just because I had so much FUN as a scout myself. Best thing in the world to get these young guys to put down a video game controller and pick up a backpack, hiking stick, or a paddle. So much out there to experience, if we can just get them away from the electronics once in a while. Again, Heart Lifting to read this thread. Please contribute any time you can to Scouting. Money may be nice, but these young guys really need your time and attention above all. It is so hard to counteract all of the negative role models out there. Definitely a worthwhile cause to support!

Old School point of view. You guys have it made when it comes to this electronic match up stuff. Date a few times, and if it doesn't work, log back on and try another. In my day we had to hope our buddies might fix us up with their girls friend's friends, or their sisters or cousins, or whom we might chance to meet at the local hang out. We didn't have the option of selecting the sane ones from the crazy ones, we were just happy to meet a gal. We often didn’t find out just how incompatible we were until after marriage and the kids came along, and then just tried to work through our differences. They were usually brought up the same way, and were nowhere near as spoiled rotten as most women are today. Good Luck in this new world of cyber dating. Red Dog -
Times Up! He's calling the car crushers this Friday (June 29) unless someone makes a rock solid commitment to come and get the bed or whole truck. "Save an MJ From Scrap"
-
Better make it soon. Talked to my brother this past weekend. The truck is sitting in the back of an apartment parking lot, and the landlord is getting tired of looking at it. Landlord has been patient with him because of Katrina, but now wants to get the parking lot cleared out, as his apartments are now mostly restored, and he is ready to rent. Needs the spots for new tenants. Act within the next few weeks or its scraped!

Body Shop guy turned me on to these two 3M products. 1st, 3M Wood Grian Panel / Decal Remover Aerosol Spray. 2nd, 3M Adhesive Remover. Comes in a Red and White Square can. If you follow instructions on the products, you can take off any decal or stripe while doing absolutely no damage to the paint. My problem was, the paint under the Sportruck Stripe was in factory condition, and the surronding paint was still 10 years old.

Thats the least of our worries. They don' t call this place "Cancer Alley" for nothing. Lots of Chemical Plants too.

$3.09 for Regular down south in Louisiana. Understand that we live right on the Mississippi River, close to several Refineries that make the stuff.

Soooooooo Sorry for the delay. Four months later, Computer is now virus free, along with a complete reformatting of the hard drive. Here are the photos: Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found As per my orginal promise, $100 for the bed, no tailgate or tail lights included (I called dibs for my project). Southern truck, not rusted out or any road salt cancer.

Got an e-mail informing me off a new MJ spec page. If you haven't been there yet, might what to check it out. Also contains other links that may be of help with drive train and engine info. http://www.jeepiki.com/wiki/index.php/MJ_Comanche Red Dog

Hang in there, I will try to get pics up of the long bed in New Orleans this coming weekend. Haven't forgot, just busy with life and everything that comes with it. Red Dog

OK, Maybe I was a bit harsh. Just Pi$$ed that they killed the Gladiator. Nice upgrade though, but still think the Jeep product line is going in the wrong direction. Those guys need to realize that the competition can crank out mini SUV's cheaper and faster than they can. They need to stick to their core market and focus on building quality products, which can pull everyone else's vehicles out of the ditch when they get stuck. That was the original intention....Right? Just getting back. Yeah it's a long bed but it's not cherry. Some minor dents that can be poped out with a large bar suction cup tool. (No where near as bad as yours) It's been down south for it's life, so there is is no salt or corrosion problems. Missing the tailgate and turn signals. Some stuff laying in the bed so I really didn't get a good look at the bottom panel. My masonic brother owns it and doesn't have a title. He bought it to get the 4.0 and auto tranny for his 86 that has a weak V6 and was looking to upgrade. He didn't realize that he should have cannibilzed an XJ and saved an MJ from scrap. Oh well, the front end and cab had damage so he really didn't do that much of a bad thing. I will try to get over there and take some photos within the next week or so, and post them on this thread. You have first dibs, and I hope that the actual condition refects my recollections. A second inspection and photos will prove that out. Red Dog

Welcome, and Greetings from New Orleans "Laissez les Bons Temps Rouler" Red Dog

My MJ was cosidered totaled after a wreck based soley on the age of the vehicle. $500 to turn it over, $300 to keep it. Insurance companys don't think the same way Comanche owners do. Unless you have upgraded coverage for a vintage vehicle, don't expect much more. I know where there is decent bed in New Orleans if you plan to come down for Mardi Gras. $100. I'll send pics if you are intrested in it. Red Dog

A) Missing a Cargo Bed B) Doesn't look trail rated, much less trail ready C) Definitely the kind of crap that continues to dilute the Jeep product line, and alienate their core customers. Just another pathetic attempt by an out of touch upper management, trying to appease the masses, by duplicating the kind of crap that every other AUTO manufacturer is cranking off the end of their assembly lines. Instead of focusing on the original intention of a quality product, which was built for a specific purpose of traversing open country where no developed roads existed, they keep trying to steal a small percentage of the soccer mom purchasing public away from the mini-van market. It is so sad to see this happen to Jeep product line since they got sucked up into the "Global Market". Their sales are down and they are grasping at straws. Unfounded rant you say? Well let's look back at what happened to Harley Davidson after it was purchased by AMF. Damn near ruined the original product and was ready to kill the name, along with the heritage, completely. The only reason Harley is where it is at today is because Willy Davidson bought it back, and rebuilt it after AMF left it in a shambles. Where is Willis? Or any other strong entrepreneur willing to rescue the Jeep product from the quagmire that Damier Chrysler has left it in? Rant Finished, Off my Soap Box, Red Dog
