Other side of the Bridge, Tacoma here. I found it funny, after I picked up this awesome beast, I have spotted a ton of Comanches all around. I can't wait to take this out to Tahuya next year once it becomes a wheeling rig. I'm in Olympia, throw me a pm if you decide to take it out. I don't go to Tahuya much but frequent Evans and Naches.

You did, I actually called on it....but was already sold. Now I know were it went.

In case some one has this response down the road I wanted to edit a little. I do feel all options could work but......[/color]

Found the forum, looks like some good info on there. Thanks for the referral. They were barely touching, but they did touch. Here is a picture of the valve cover. The rockers only showed wear on a couple of them. Guess the anodizing was strong enough and the contact light enough. There is still a tick so I'm guessing its just gonna be permanent. Good excuse to get a nice looking cover though. Here is a picture, you can see wear marks on inside of cover, and one of the rockers is bare in a small spot. I modded the shield in the current cover for now (broke loose one side of sheild and re tacked it higher up), and think I found an alum. one that will have enough clearance. I'll know for sure tomorrow when I make a phone call. Cheers

Are these the bolt-on pedestal mount rockers, or the stud mount ones? Lots of info on these over on the stroker forum. There the non-adjustable Part #S40196 http://www.harlandsharp.com/amc_jeep_olds.htm Basically I'm looking for a higher clearance valve cover. Stroker forum?

Well I thought I had a exhaust leak but finally started looking into the noise more today and realized the "ticking" I heard was coming from under the valve cover. Opened it to find the rockers are hitting the valve cover. -
Hey guys, I'm looking for a good higher rise valve cover or valve cover riser. My Harland Sharp roller rockers are hitting (even though they say they clear) I've searched but not finding something that says if its taller or how tall it is. Any links or help would be appreciated. Cheers, Jason Its application will be 1999 Jeep Cherokee with 4.0 inline 6

Well, got going on the bumper today. My friend Luke and I spent the day making it come together. Here is a little overview of the work we accomplished. Started by setting the angles for sides and upper bumper. Then added the connection to existing bumper. Started filling more in from there. Began checking and mock up for lower bumper section lower bumper section. Lower section in place and filler pieces starting to make it come together. Our humble shop space. Made some inner supports for bumper. Installed them. More test fitting. Buddy Donnie stopped by to see our progress and made the end caps while I did a lot of grinding to get the bumpers looking presentable. Ready to be tacked in place! My welder Luke. Yours truly....very excited about the progress. In place.... Now for some support for the sides of bumper.. Bumpers on. Hopefully get a coat of flat black on it tomorrow. Still trying to set a quick turnaround date for powdercoat with the powdercoat guy. -

Ya, I'm interested to know if those are actually air bumps...or if they just put a little spring in there to act/look like some sort of progressive bump. Is the wire suppose to be fill behind the bondo.....can't begin to say what I think of the last owners idea of body work. Glad its got a new and better home now! Congrats on the new ride. Looks like it will be a fun project, perfect for an air force mechanic. Hope you can use some of the sweet tools you probably have for work! Cheers, Jason -

Thanks, and ya I agree. The first thing that astetically(sp) bugged me was the bumper. It just doesnt flow with truck at all and the 10g steel sides will not protect the bed well enough against rock ledge drops in places like Moab or the Rubicon (places I wheel yearly) I can't wait to work on it (looks to be all day tomorrow I'll have bumper time!!!) -

Well I'm still stuck waiting on a new blade for the bandsaw. Should be in tomorrow and bumper work will begin then. For today...... The passenger seat would not go back all the way due to the speaker box that was in the truck. I know, I know...its the passenger so who cares....ha. Well I guess after a 2300 mile drive and some passenger seat time I decided it needed to have full range of motion with such small interior space. So modded the box and sunk the speaker in. Was happy to see the Kenwood woofer was a slim design and the mod would work well and still have good sound. Because we all love pictures here are some for you guys. Forgot "before" pictures, but sure you can imagine.. the speaker sticking out further. Seat now goes all the way back on slides and full tilt to window. :) -

Started work on modification of the rear bumper to better protect the bed. Did a little cardboard template to get idea of what I wanted. Then moved on to starting to cut the steel (3/16 plate) Got to use the press break too.. Killed the blade on the band saw so called it quits for the night. -
This will be interesting to watch. I actually have a fresh turbo I could put to my new comanche. the 4.7 stroker has the machine work and build to support it. Just don't know that it needs it, or if I could squeze the needed intercooler in the engine bay. (No intercooler is not an option) Keep pictures and build coming! If you get it done in time, I'll be in Moab from Aug 26th to Sept 12th wheeling!

Try more trimming or better yet some proper bump stops. Trim like that is for appearance and to protect yourself from getting sliced, not your tires -
  I'm gonna enjoy watching this thread!

Ordered masterpulls Winch Rope M-P Superline XD 5/16" X 100' 21,000lb. w/ H-D self locking hook. Droped 25ft off length that 9.5 comes with in cable. That will keep from having any bind issues if bunching to one side occurs from side pulls. Will have 50ft of add on length with me if needed. Put on my fairlead for it today. Along with my new license plates. Wa makes you run a front plate, this should be good enough..lol. -

Its only on outside of fender. does not wrap around like door trim would. I would probably try JCWhitney first, they tend to have this sort of stuff. Here is a couple pictures. Hope it helps. -

Ok, gotta set this straight. go4lo never owned this rig. woodkrawler built it and cummins48 bought it from him. I got these for the front end today, and ordered my steel for the bumper and body armor.
