  1. FINALLY got it figured out. turns out somebody did some grinding and damn near rubbed that letter code off. I cleaned it, hit it with black spraypaint, and lightly sanded it. then it started to show. I know the insides have never been changed and the magic code is a C now acording to what ive read, thats a 4.10, widetrack, open, amc-20...... now that I know exactly what I got is that a decent axle or should I look in to swapping it with something else??? Give me your thoughts Thanks
  2. Yeah i know where it should be but theres nothing there! don't ask me why or how. I'm guessing nobody knows ehat the markings on top are for???
  3. I scrapped and cleaned where tge numbers should be abd the only markings on it seem to be the ones i mentioned earlier on the top of the diff
  4. anybody know what the markings on the top of the housing are?? N 428 5105 Thats what I can see so far. also looks like theres a row of numbers near the cover edge. can't make em out though
  5. It appears to be an amc20....those good or bad? Whats the pros and cons? I'm gonna keep it 2wd so it won't ever see much offroading
  6. Yeah circular, i've never seen torx either thats why it threw me off. They appear to be factory too. If i knew how to upload a pic i would post one to show it
  7. I know this was covered in the past but can't seem to find exactly what i'm looking for. I have an 86, 2.5L, 4spd, 2wd and I'm wondering what ratio it has?? The tag is gone and I havent gotten around to pulling the cover off to check the stamp. Is there any other quick way to tell?? via VIN possibly?? it has a smooth round cover and the bolts are torx if that helps..... Also, is it worth keeping or should I swap it out with something else?
  8. My 86 has a double. 4 glass panels
  9. Gonna have to give the old beast a seafoam treatment!
  10. What would cause dieseling after shutdown?? Its an 86, 2wd, 4spd, 2.5 throttle body injection. It doesn't do it all the time just every once in a while
  11. Not true. My 86 2.5 runs a single belt and no V-belts
  12. To the one lookin for a LWB for sale....I do, Would love to trade it for a SWB. let me know
  13. Maybe you can answer this for me.....I have an 86 2.5 and the gauge cluster is a large speedo and large fuel gauge. I would like to swap it with one that has a tach. Do you know if that would be a plug and play or no? I'm not sure if the wiring is universal and supports a tach. worst case i'll just get an aftermarket tach but would prefer the factory setup. Let me know
  14. Yeah i agree. Theres only so much ya can do with a 4 for sound. Was thinkin maybe catback duals who knows. This is the 3rd truck ive owned so far and i wanna restore it. Eventually drop a 4.0 in it. It runs like a top though for havin over 230,xxx on it
  15. Does anybody have any ideas or tips for changing the exhaust?? I have an 86 LB 2WD. would like to free it up and possibly give it better sound. A guy I know gave it to me for installing an alternator in his grand cherokee. I only did the labor, he paid for parts. Also, if anybody out here is looking for parts I am in Nevada and I found a complete LB 4x4 4.0 in a yard yesterday. As you all know, in this region NOTHING rusts so its in pretty decent shape so get a hold of me and I can give more details but act quick cause when I'm done with it their might not be much left of it. haha I snagged a Lund sun visor off of it for $15.
