A few more hours a bit more progress,... Went to sit it on the TJ coils and the leafs got in the way so I cut the old tabs off:) Full weight on the TJ spring only, leafs are there for alignment only
-
I plan on using TJ front coils in the rear, as for shocks and bump stops :dunno: let you know when I get there!
-
Ask and you shall receive! OK well today Stephanie reminded me the competition is 22 days away,..I guess I better get started on the 4 Link rear,... Well my jay at Chanda had these kicking around on the shop floor so I figured they would be a good start,.. and plasma! make some diff tube mounts Quick test fit made some upper mounts from shop scraps and some uni-body reinforcements to share the load of the coils, the goal os to locate them right below the rear cage tie ins :) Chassis cleaned up been going for 2 hours solid , so time for a quick break!

Browndog mounts arein started the 4 link Start of the 4 link,.. Glenn helped me tonight and on 2.5 hrs we began,... Stock XJ coil buckets: Yes I am that "frugal" to reuse them,.. Freecycle anyone? :out: Plasma'd that stuff down to size,.. Cut some brackets to "mock" up the stock XJ front buckets I need to tack them in and test the ride height, then start the 4 link :)

Well I am not sure if you may or may not know this but if you plan on hard wheeling a Jeep with a 4.0you run the risk of sheering the bosses off the block like I did,... To fix the issue at hand I purchase www.browndogindustries.com motor mounts. First off, let Me say their customer service and knowledge of the 4.0 and Jeeps in general is amazing only trumped by their passion and the product they produce! The mounts are VERY beefy, beautiful welds and a nice yellow powdercoat (I assume) The hardware comes well packaged and easily identifiable and the instructions are very detailed [/img] and obviously shows pride in the workmanship when they sign their product! [/img] The install was very easy and took about 2 hrs to install with hand tools in my garage. I undid the motor mounts on both sides to the chassis and jacked up the motor enough to clear the frame mounts. Then removed the passenger side block plate. EASY! the only issue that slowed me down was one bolt that broke that took a bit to extricate. and in,.. Fit like a glove!! Now onto the passenger side :) It went just as smoothly and actually faster over the driver side , the mount was a bit tight on the alternator but with some finesse on the alt mount it slid in. Overall I love the product and it puts me one step closer to being ready for racing at http://www.highriders.ca Challenge . The cost is minimal for the amount of time that it would of taken to make them myself! Just need to torque them all down and move onto the next project!

another Jeep but I have friend call me and ask me if I want to buy this,... It's a 1990 4Cyl 2WD, 161,xxx KMS , the Jeep is really good rust wise but the P/S is badly damaged from a flop at speed, A piller needs to be replaced, B post is caved and bent, box has a whiskey wrinkle,...l but I think I can save it

Everyone is OK it was a 19Hr recovery,... I will hyperlink the thread later,... Buuuut I am so excited,.. more parts today today! Motor plates and mounts from www.browndogoffroad.com ; review/build thread to follow Now I learned the hard way wheeling an 4.0 block puts your mount bosses at risk and I almost destroyed my hopped up 4.0 because the bosses pulled off the engine. Spend the money on these if its anything from a DD to a comp rig! If the product is even half of what their customer service, love for the sport/jeeps and overall knowledge is it will be one of the most beneficial mods to date! Watch out for the review!

The first of the rebuild parts arrived,.. Weld on outer beadlocks and inner bead stiffeners from SUREWAY Metals in Calgary Alberta.

Stay tuned folks! I know I have been off the radar for a while but I had to take some time for the house , fixing the lease return, prepping the 2002 stang for sale, deal with the RV write off (and find a new one), work things and whack of other $#it but I am baaaaack! The goal in 6 weeks is to do -weld on bead locks (ordered) -cage reinforcement -linked and coiled rear -tranny pan repair -exhaust repair -www.browndogindustries.com motor mounts (ordered) -maybe bigger tires -u joint repair, batt relocation -maybe a new winch (Kingone) -Front diff skid plate Who knows if I will get it all done but I am entered in the 2011 http://www.highriders.ca challenge and I want to come out with my Jeep in one piece. I will be calling in friends and favors on this one,... Previous years photos,.. http://video.icq.com/video/video_selected.php?vid=y6hKsIO-Efw&icid=vr_rmpn :)

A few updates,.. decided to pull the box to clean the frame, prep for the new diffs, pull that stupid brake adjuster, ect, ect Found some welds that made it by the illustrious AMC Quality control dept,... :fs1: Nice perocity,... Found some interesting undercut and basic lack of weld on the frame rails,... so that had to be fixed,.. Tried the Jackson "NITRO" ADF Welding helmet tonight and let me tell you for a value priced bucket ,... it's DAMN NICE! I am happier with this :) Noticed an oddity in the frame rails,.. Silver paint,... very odd and a nice colour Likely the colour I will end up with on this project,.. that's it for tonight I think,.. I am tired and dirty -
MY "only runs on starter fluid" MJ update

If your truck has the fuel pump ballast resistor on the Driverside inner fender, bypass it to make sure it hasn't cracked. Before you pull anything make sure power is getting to the pump. -

JENSSEN replied to JENSSEN's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Fighting the urge to paint it orange like the other jeeps I have built but I may buck the trend and go silver/pewter/gun metal kind of paint -
AAACK! You have the colour I want for mine!!!! Looks sharp! Care to share the paint code?

That's a good idea as well I was thinking the D44 or even 35 from the grand for the rear disk brakes but I can adapt those over after. I will do some shopping at my friends junkyard this week to see what's available :) Any recommendations are very welcome!
