  1. It's easy! Keep your intake manifold , gaskett match the cylinder head, move it to your original intake draw it out and "port" you intake if you would like or just bolt your old intake on and move the renix sensors from the block over. You won't gain all the HO benefits but it's still a noticable difference by the seat of the pants dyno :) I have done it and it works well
  2. I have browsing other comanche pictures on the web and looking at the top of the rim vs the bottom body line it looks similar to the 6-6.5" lift,.....
  3. It always looks worse before it gets better,... Now the new inner rockers are ready, last of the rusty needs to be removed and then the healing can begin,...
  4. Well I put used 3" coils in the front and the rake is huge I was thinking its got to be 6-6.5,..
  5. Don't measure from the ground. Measure from the center of the axle/hub to the bottem edge of the flare. Stock height for an MJ runs approximately 21-1/2" so with a spring-over I would expect you're at somewhere around 27 inches. looks like 25" from the bottom of the factory flare to the center of the axle shaft
  6. Good call I will remeasure tonight :)
  7. 18 gauge $75 + shipping 16 gauge $100 + shipping (16 is a PITA in my little break) Will need to be fitted on the rear a bit as I make them a bit long Measurements are guesses as my was rotten that sound fair? EDIT: I see your in the same boat,...
  8. I am going to start by making the upper and lower control arms , then going from there I just didn't want to buy springs twice. I have a tube bender, plasma , mig and tig in the shop.
  9. Maybe it's the smoke in the shop but you lost me
  10. You fiberglassed the floors? Indeed I did. I ordered metal pans to weld in. They were like 100something$, but they sent me the wrong ones. So I thought to myself I can do it much cheaper and easier with fiberglass cloth and resin. So I sent them back. I sanded the floors, sprayed rust neutralizer on it to keep it from spreading, and then fiberglassed the whole floor midway up the center hump. Sanded it when it was dry. Got some herculiner, and coated the entire floor, and back wall up to the plastic trim piece going across underneath the rear windshield. Worked great, was pretty easy, and was cheaper than the sheetmetal. The bed liner was the most expensive thing. My only complaint would be the noise, since there's no more carpet to muffle the sound/vibrations. OK I am not sure about your local laws but in Canada fiber glassing floors in a uni-body is not only illegal but really just plain unsafe. I am not trying to be a price here but in your truck the floors are part of the structure, when you fiberglass the floors it does not in any way put that strength back into the chassis. Floors for a Comanche are basically the same as a XJ but you need to remove the floor spine to install them. Please take this criticism as constructive; but for your own safety I would revisit your floor repair.
  11. You fiberglassed the floors?
  12. Anyone run the Rusty's 6.5" coils?
  13. After a quick clean up I started ion the drivers side floor pan after some investigation it was deemed the "spine" of the floor was not even remotely salvageable,.. faaack so I started on a new one :)
  14. Seems with the stock tire measuring in at 27.5" tall the bottom of the flare is 38 15/16 approx Side profile to show the rim vs the bottom of the sheet metal:
  15. Pics of the ride height? What coils are you running? Long arm or short arm? Steering geometry modifications? More info plez!
  16. Ok guys I need to level the dump jumper; the specs are -89 Comanche 4 cyl truck originally now 4.0 stick -2 wheel drive , may swap it to 4wd -spring over completed on the rear I need to level or slightly rake the truck so it's level or nose high a touch. I will get some base measurements tomorrow to the flares, bumper mounts with the nose level to get a idea of lift on the stock tires. I will be looking for some insights on this as I want to get some coils on order soon :)
  17. Well I am back from my conference and ready to play with the manche again,... May need some help from the members here to figure out how much coil I need to stuff in the front to level the old beast out. May be a new post in the tech question area later,..
  18. Going to have to tap the brakes this week,.. Off to the centre of the universe for a few days (Toronto), more progress to come next week :)
  19. What part of Alberta? Cuz in my part "little to no rust" meant I only had to cut out and replace the driver's floor, and one box side. Otherwise "average rust" is pretty much fit for the jy. Check the pics in my Photobucket link in my Sig. I payed too much for my '89 only to realize it's not worth fixing. Lots of good manches around , many with very little rust,.. But way more than $50.00 lol. I can fix the rust on your 89 send it to me next fall,... I am from Ontario originally so AB rust is easy for me lol
  20. Lol rust free would of been nice, or was running LMFAO. I always wanted a Manche and the price was right ;)
  21. Odd part is usually in Alberta cars have little to no rust,... But this unit did sit on the lawn for 3 years before I found it,...
  22. The 93 colour started out as sunburst orange then we just started fawning with it lol, copper pearls,.. A drip of this a splash of that and boom the paint was done :)
  23. Give me a few more weeks and I will have it in primer and the lift completed and maybe even 4wd; Wifey told me last night I have to make it 4wd I Love that woman!
  24. Passenger side floor Drivers
