oh here is a closer shot, I cut off where the ground and switched wires go because I'm 97.3 percent sure that they are correct. -

Switch to Firefox, it'll remember what you typed if you click back when stuff like that happens. been thinking about doing that just have not gotten around to switching over and learning the browser again. anyone have any info on the wiper motor wiring? does my logic seam OK? or am I going to burn stuff if I hook it up that way? -
no problem. at least a jeep enthusiast gets to rifle through and take some useful stuff off those perfectly good, now dead vehicles.

99 wiper motor in an 87, adapting and confused

I THINK the brown/Violet is high speed oooh, dark green/yellow i think is park so brown/white must be low speed right? so i would wire it up like this: 99------------------function--------------88 black---------------ground------------black blue----------------fused 12volts------blue green/yellow--------park--------------gray brown/Violet--------high speed--------red brown/white--------low speed---------white does this look correct? -
OH MY GOD I HAD THIS ALL TYPED OUT, then I clicked something in the acrobat reader and it used this window to display its stupid information and I lost all my typing, I hate you computer! anyway summerized version: 99 front windshield wiper motor into an 87 Comanche, wiring in plug, looked at FSM for 99 and 88, got confused, info so far: 99: black = ground blue = fused 12volts green/yellow = ? brown/viloet = ? brown/white = ? 88: black = ground blue = fused 12 grey = park select input white = low speed control red = high speed control 99 wiper switch diagram confuses me, someone help please? Thank you, Jonathan

got there and walked into the yard and what do I see? a mint cherry beautiful white 2001 2 Door Cherokee     written on the windshield was of course "Clunker" :wall: :fs1: well anyway I was all excited because I was going to pillage the header panel and fenders off this beautiful machine so I asked how much for that stuff, the guy says "oh that isn't really in the yard its just sitting there while we make room in the private yard" and if I still wanted it it was 300 for the complete header panel and 100 for each fender. so now I'm bummed about not getting to take anything off of it and that I just saw the remains of an awesome vehicle. well I go and pull the windshield motor I went there to get and grabbed an air box cover. and low and behold in the back of the yard and nice 99 Cherokee, engine missing header panel taken off in the process so I go to investigate and take a look inside and there is the whole header panel sitting in the passenger compartment "SCORE!!" a little damage but I can fix it up also grabbed a passenger side power heated mirror, pulled the windshield wiper motor with some extra wire to adapt to my 87 and a couple random harness and switches (by the way anyone who puts alarms or remote starts in their vehicles I would suggest looking at ford Taurus and other fords for their factory pin switches, very nice ones I just put one in my Subaru to replace the cheapy ones that come with alarms.) anyway took it all up to the guy and asked how much for all this? it may have helped that I started talking to a guy that I knew that worked there, he said 75 for the header panel, 25 for the windshield motor and 15 for the mirror. all in all a good day at the junk yard for me... also I hate the cash for clunkers program and I'm glad its over.

well I pulled the motor out of an 87, just the motor because the arm structure was broken. then I looked around and found a 99 Cherokee and looked at the windshield Assembly and saw that the only obvious difference was the plug so I cut a length of wire off after the plug and will wire it in. I also scored an air box top because the PO put in a sweet sub pump i mean a sweet cone filter. and got a slightly damaged 99 header panel assembly. the slightly damaged for 75 bucks was a much better deal then the newer undamaged on for 300 bucks.

97+ harness first, 97- harness second: 1 empty 2 red------------------------------7 light green 3 light green-----------------------3 grey 4 black----------------------------5 black 5 empty 6 red/orange-----------------------7 light green 7 brown---------------------------8 dark blue 8 light blue (fog lights) 9 violet----------------------------2 white 10 tan-----------------------------4 brown 11 black---------------------------5 black 12 red (fog lights) 13 violet/red ----------------------2 white 14 dark green/yellow---------------8 dark blue Hopefully the colors are the same. only problem I could see running into is that on the 97+ headlight harness the headlights low and high beams are separated left and right so each function has its own wire so there are 4 wires doing the 2 functions of the headlight. you are now condensing the 4 wires into 2 wires of the same gauge.

*Corrections made a couple posts down* I had this coppied down from somewhere: Which wiring diagram? I have an 89 and 99 FSM and here are the headlight harness colors: 1999 Connector C106 driver's side main harness to headlight harness looking at the back of the headlight side connector with the tab on top Pin 1 is on the right top pin 8 is on the right bottom: 1 empty 2 red - Left headlight low beam power 3 light green - Left turn signal power 4 black - Right headlight park/turn light ground 5 empty 6 red/orange - Right headlight low beam power 7 brown - Left parking light power 8 light blue (w/ fog lights only) - Fog light power (to bulb) 9 violet - Left headlight high beam power 10 tan - Right turn signal power 11 black - Left headlight park/turn light ground 12 red (w/ fog lights only) - Fog light power out (to relay) 13 violet/red - Right headlight high beam power 14 dark green/yellow - Right parking light power 1989 headlight wiring. Main harness to headlight harness connector on driver's side. Looking at the back of the connector on the headlight harness side with the 'ears' on the bottom, Pin 1 is left top and pin 6 is right top. 1 empty 2 white - headlight high beam power 3 grey - left turn signal power 4 dark blue - parking light power 5 black - ground 6 red (w/ fog lights only) - fog lamp relay power in 7 light green - headlight low beam power 8 brown - right turn signal power 9 empty 10 light green - (w/ fog lights only) to fog light relay signal power Hope this helps. Later, Joe

Cooling fan plug, shouldn't I have it?
lostissues replied to lostissues's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
anyone have any insite on this? I don't want to wire in a relay in if I can just plug a harness in. it would just look better. -
well this is going to be mostly a trail rig, with 6 inches of lift and 36X12.50 tires I don't think ride could get much worse. I had my buddy order me some stock mounts from Crown for about 20 bucks for the pair so I will be going that route. if these go bad in a short time I will think about the Brown dog ones but I think these will be OK for my application. Thanks for the input, Jonathan

I just got a 97+ 10 blade cooling fan and put it in today but have not wired it in. my truck does not seam to have the cooling fan wiring harness and I thought that was weird. I checked an 88 Cherokee that was at the same place and it had the plug and fan from the factory. the plug was routed out of a wiring harness that was just behind the drivers side headlight. on my truck (87 with not AC) did not have any plugs coming out of that part of the harness I circled in red the area with plugs that are not in my truck and I'm wondering about. the plug labeled "Diode module" is that where the other 2 plugs (fan motor and radiator temperature switch) plug into? I guess I'm hoping that I can grab the harness out of a junk yard and just plug it in. I would think that they used the same wiring harness for every truck (with same engine) but I guess not. Thanks, Jonathan

my motor mounts are toasty. I need to replace them. with a quick search online I found that stock replacement mounts are around 10 dollars or less. on the other hand M.O.R.E. makes a heavy duty set that runs about 140+SH and the ones by brown dog for about 75 (free shipping) is it really worth the extra 70+ dollars for a beefier mount? what are the benefits other then the obvious strength of the beefed up ones over stock? Thanks, Jonathan *edit: brown dog MM have free shipping*

Getting new aux fan, will the plug be the same?
lostissues replied to lostissues's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ok cool. the way I will probably do it is to cut the plug from a junk yard doner and then solder it in place of the old plug that is in there now. -
Getting new aux fan, will the plug be the same?
lostissues replied to lostissues's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
weird, I could have sworn I already posted a reply :dunno: anyway what I thought I already said was that if they do not match I'm going to use 2 wires to jump the plugs together (splicing into wire and keeping plug intact) until I can find the appropriate male/female plugs at the junk yard to make an adapter. or just cut the new plug off one from the junk yard and wire it in. thanks for the input **Ha figured out what I did, I hit new topic and didn't put a title to it so it disregarded the post all together** -
I just bought a new (97-01 I think) 10 blade auxiliary fan for my 87 Comanche. will this just plug into the vacant plug that is in my Comanche now? or did they change the style plug? according to the 88 Comanche electrical PDF file that I have the plug is a small 2 wire half round looking plug. and I think it is a little different with at least the 99 FSM I have the plug looks more square but I'm not sure. Thanks, Jonathan

my mj project. current name "project over"
lostissues replied to lostissues's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
OK so this is the update so far: OK what has happened so far: brought to local shop to have work done, dropped it off and said whenever you get to it. the installed my D44 rear spring over with a new/used leaf pack, new shocks in the rear and adjusted the e-brake. I had a list of other things for them to take a look. I had dropped it off after I lost my job at Circuit City when they went bankrupt, with the free time I have had I have been helping a friend build up his off road shop. we built a nice 2 bay garage in addition to his smaller 2 bay garage already there, we built it from the foundation up, if anyone is interested and in the area you can check them out at http://www.Kensoffroad.com so I had the shop stop working on my truck and had it towed up to their shop. after a while we got to work on it. I ended up getting new components for the front lift it is a 6 inch rough country lift. while there I also got it re-geared to 4.56 with a lock-rite in the rear. and the picture above is how it has been sitting. we did a little wheeling: played in the mud at the end of the day I had overheated and broke my lower track bar mount. so it sat for a few days till I was able to get the new track on. when recovering the track bar decided to bend itself under the axle. the piece that broke off was a track bar drop bracket that the PO had put on and I stupidly used  :wall: so I figured just bolt it to the stock place and be done. well not so much, the back side of the lower track bar mount had a crack in it and the whole thing had been bent down so we heated it up and bent it back and then welded the crack and got it back on. we did a little Wheeling and I still overheated so i will have to order an aux fan for it (newer 10 blade electric fan) and hope that helps. down the line I will get a new radiator and get rid of the closed system. the tires I had on them were 33/12.5/15 BFG MT and they were dry rotted and the valve stems had rotted away so the didn't like to hold air so now I have these: Interco 36/12.5/15 TSL Super Swampers Just have to do a little more trimming so they don't rub. so that is how it sits now. all I should have to do is get a new windshield on it, fix the wipers and get the bumper (from :fs1: Nates4X4 :fs1: NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM HIM! once i get all my issues with him resolved I will put up a detailed explanation of why I now hate him so much, for now if you think you may get something from him please ask me and I will tell you why I suggest taking your business elsewhere.) anyway once i get all that it should be inspectable and I should be able to drive it! and break it :redX: and then fix :wrench: it and then drive it some more . -
There is probably a filter that does not allow people to "yell" on the board. "TESTING" <--typed in all caps. EDIT: wierd TESTING Well I guess I don't know

Parking/Tail light issues
lostissues replied to GreenF350's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I meant that that wire goes back into the harness with all the other wires. so the ground goes from the back of the switch and stands alone for about 4-5 inches and then meets up with the other wires. at least thats the way it is on mine.
