  1. Thanks for the info. The bare wire shown is foil wrapped with the 2 wires going to the knock sensor (yellow with black stripe & purple ? with white stripe). When I pulled off the old loom, the bare wire was just open on the end like it's shown in the photo. I can trace all three wires back in the harness but they don't appear to go to the 101 connector. I'll double check that tomorrow but it looks like they go into connector 116 ???
  2. I pulled the injector harness from my 88 4.0 today to clean it up and also to clean out connector 101 (wow!). At the end of the harness, wrapped in foil is a bare wire as per the picture. It doesn't connect to anything as far as I can tell. Should I just tape it in place against the foil wrapping and move on or?
  3. Keep trying with the picture and maybe someone can help you with this.
  4. I think the part numbers you need are 83500485 (Lock Cylinder and key) and 55007800 (glove box latch in Black) Someone pls correct me if those are not the right parts. If they are, both are "still available" thru Mopar now. Good Luck
  5. On a closed Renix cooling system (pre 91), that's a heater control valve assembly you are referring to I think.. You can get another one at the parts store or at Rock Auto, etc.
  6. Thanks for the heads up on that. I would prefer to have it in the radiator return line plus the wiring to connect it is right there nearby. If I can't connect/work out how to do it there, I may either resort to 1. having a bung installed in the new radiator or 2. use the switch option. And ParadiseMJ..I agree with you and appreciate your emphasis on using the correct terminology/terms. Usually it saves tons of time and wasted effort. Thanks again...
  7. I'll inquire on both suggestions and update the post. If I can't match it up, I'll use the switch in dash option.
  8. Thanks cruiser54..yes that part would work (part number 83505113) but it's no longer available. The original 88 fan temp sensor is too large for the inline hose adapters I've seen (Jegs, Summit, etc) so I either need a used inline unit like the one you saw or find a smaller sized sending unit to fit the later model XJ thermo housing plug spot or the inline hose adapters that support 1/8" up to to 3/8NPT sizes. All leads/assist helpful..Thanks again..
  9. I have a chance to get a new 2 row radiator from a 94 XJ. If I swap out my original 88 closed system radiator with it, I'll need to relocate or change the electric fan temp sensor that presently is in the radiator to a new location as the new radiator doesn't have a bung for it. I've read thru numerous posts on here and other forums but I can't locate an actual part number for a sensor that I can either 1. put in a later model thermostat housing or 2. inline in the lower radiator hose and then wire into my existing 2 wire connector. Could someone who's done this pass along this info to help me out..? Thanks.
  10. I went thru this same issue a few months ago and finally just bought a new handle assembly (part number 83504101 driver 83504102 passenger side) and installed it. Easy fix..The problem with the vent window handle assemblies is they are installed with permanent loctite and unless you can heat it to about 475 degrees, you can't get it apart without breaking it. I drilled the old one out and put the new one in. Cost of the new assembly at the dealer is $65.00 plus but you can get them for around $45.00 from some of the discount jeep parts dealers like Parks Motors in KS which is where I got mine.. Or you can go to the JY and get a complete window assembly and swap it out. Hope this helps. Good Luck
  11. Thanks Eagle and Hornbrod. I think I'll try the turns test with mine when I get it out and then take it with me to the parts counter to compare turns with a rebuilt "ZJ" unit. It'll be a couple of months from now before I can do it but I'll post an update to this topic then afterward. I like the Borgerson unit but it's a little pricey for me right now...
  12. Tom: I would consider ordering one from Rock Auto also but how do you bench test it before installing it to make sure it's actually a 12.7 turn unit? :dunno: Hornbrod tried several rebuilt ones according to his post above and all were the 14.1 unit despite the part number. Can you outline how you plan to test the one from Rock Auto? That would be very helpful ! I've searched several JY's in this area and all the ones I've spotted so far are on very high mileage cars so I'm leaning toward getting a rebuilt one also if I can confirm it's a 12.7 one before installing it. Thanks
  13. Thanks hornbrod..That's exactly what I needed to know.
  14. I've seen several topics relating to using the ZJ steering box to get a faster (12.7 I think) turning ratio. Are all ZJ steering boxes the same or is there a difference between the ones on the V8 models vs the 6 cylinder models ? The parts stores/JY's claim they are all the same but I thought I read somewhere that only the V8 ones were the faster gear. If so, how do you identify the boxes with the 12.7 turning ratio? Thanks for help on this...
  15. These look great!!! How/what did you use to get them apart? and have you reassembled any of them yet? if so, what did you use to seal them back together ?
  16. Anyone have tips or suggestions for a good way to refinish the "chrome" outlines on this dash bezel. I tried masking off the lines but couldn't get them tight/straight enough and it looked worse after than before. All ideas, help appreciated. Thanks
  17. If you are trying to lower the spare tire under the bed, a large flat blade screwdriver will work or just about any tire tool/wrench with a flattened end will fit into the opening in the rear of the bed.
  18. Does anyone have either or both of these pieces in gray ? I need 1 fat gray visor clip like this and 1 gray seat belt top cover piece. Mail to 63357. Thanks [/img]
  19. Yes. Does the one you used also work on a Renix 4.0 ?
  20. Has anyone located a source for the Renix era MAT sensors other than JY's ????
  21. Thanks a lot. PM sent.
  22. I need the outside button to my vent window handle assembly. Anyone have a broken/unusable vent window assembly they could take the outside button off of and mail to me? Here's a pic of my assembly. I need the button that goes outside the glass and screws into this to hold the handle in place. The stealership wants $67.00 for the whole assembly but all I need is the outside button. Thanks.
  23. Well I'm still needing the driver side opening vent window assembly. The one Q's Jeep had turned out to be broken when he found it so I still need one..Anybody have one to ship to 63357 ? Thanks
  24. I just pulled an XJ prop valve along with the MC and Booster from a 96 XJ to put in my MJ. Is the XJ prop valve "serviceable" or should it be "cleaned out" if I decide to install it ? any tips?
  25. I need a driver side vent window assembly for my 88. The only ones I've been able to find locally are the fixed ones and I need the one that opens. Ship to 63357. Thanks
