  1. It was a a day of real luck or grace rather. Very little if anything is planned to be flipped. It is all planned to be used, except a couple spares. First mj I got a few weeks ago was the blue one in the background. Been a bucket list truck for years. In the pics it had everything but when I got there about a week after making the deal the guy had sold stuff off it. Whatever I'm mostly past that now... so now back to a complete blue set for that mj. This mj also needs a rear window. Bought a second mj no title/no engine as a donor. Found the old registration and did a little internet detective work, tracked down the title holder and if my grace holds out I should have a title for that one in the near future. That one just so happens to need grey trim set minus the back carpet and trim above it.(weird how those were the only pieces missing from the jy one but also the only good ones I already had in the donor). If that title comes through which I'm feeling good it will, this mj will be my 12 y.o. daughters Christmas present. Little project for us to get squared away over the next 4 years. So yeah I agree. Great deal and most of the time even greater kids.
  2. I'll take the raising kids part. Makes me feel like a better human than just having a lucky day. 😎 $20 bucks for each window. So $40 total. Didn't know I was getting windows (I didn't ask enough questions so I wasn't fully prepared) so had to improvise and use a burned hood release cable and a utility knife to get them out. I almost gave up on the second one but pushed through, and it felt so good when I finally got it out.
  3. Got a call from one of my kids friends on Saturday to tell me he found a bench seat at the junkyard. Told me there was a couple other parts I might want as well. Got there to find an 89 with a basically complete interior. Same kid happened to call me Sunday and asked if I was at the yard. I was so he showed up and helped me carry everything out. Got an almost full grey trim set (minus back wall carpet and trim above it). He said he needed to leave so when he helped me get the stuff out (loaded it into the bedliner and set on top of the cart) I still needed to go back for the throttle body. While walking Back I decided to take an alternate route to just look around, and what do I see? An 89 long bed. Dumbfounded that there's 2 here I walk down and lo and behold an untouched navy interior. I spent 8 hours at the jy that day (open to close) and went back Wednesday for the rear bumper, wiring harness, lower dash trim in navy, and a couple odds and ends.
  4. not on the mj but instead on the 99 xj. ordered the wrong wheel cylinder off amazon (10 inch instead on 9 inch) and didnt notice until i already got back from the parts store with new drum hardware (didnt wanna go back and look like a fool if i didnt have to) grabbed a wheel cylinder off a mustang 8.8 from the back yard, and it now resides on the jeep. not the same part, but definitely a bolt in.

  6. New here so apologize if this has been answered before. I did search tapatalk but it brought up like 10k results because "sent from my phone using tapatalk" When using Chrome on my phone it says tapatalk should work but never opens. As of now I end up having to long press and open in new tab if I'm coming from Google. Guess the tldr is, do yall not have a tapatalk plug in anymore and I just have to deal with the extra work, or is it on my end.
  7. I'll have to update with pics at a later date as well as some other info. It's currently in my back yard under a cover in NE PA (borough loophole, I swear they trying to turn my town into an HOA). What do I know. 1988 blue olympic pioneer. 4.0 5 speed 4x4 short bed I did buy it from a salvage yard in northern new york, but the title is clean as far as i can tell. Out of state purchase and haven't been to dmv yet to transfer. They had dealer plates and used it as a yard/parts truck until they lost the dealer tags and then let it sit. Its a bit rough but the frame is rock solid. Don't know them well enough yet to know if anything is special. I would love a build sheet though if available. Best I can do for pics for now.
  8. I love your videos. I've probably watched the xj disc brake conversion 5 times, and I'll watch it about 5 more before I actually do it. All the parts are waiting for me, just gotta get the time.
  9. Recently got a 3/4 metabo hpt impact. I fought lugnuts and leaf spring bolts on the xj I was cutting good unibody sections out of to repair one of my other xjs that had damaged unibody feom an accident when it was parked. I tried everything, even a 3 foot breaker bar with a pipe they wouldn't budge. Thought I was gonna break the breaker bar. I broke down and ordered the big impact. Waited for it to show up and sprayed everything with pb for 3 days. When the impact arrived 4 lugnuts and the leaf bolt out in under 3 minutes. I was extatic but still apprehensive that maybe the pb did most of the work. I walked to the other side of the jeep and hit the leaf bolt I hadn't sprayed, and it came out in 30 seconds. It is maybe my new favorite tool.
  10. Asked my son to swap some tires off my daughter's tj to my new to me cheap jeep so I could get the inspection done. I should of checked, but he either stripped the old lugnuts or the studs. To be fair they were probably already junky. Either way 1/2 mile from home and.... 45 mins later it was back home and getting a royal front end treatment.
  11. I've found DexJs to be rather informative. While not a lot about mj's that guy is super knowledgeable about xjs. I've been binge watching him lately. Sure a bunch of stuff I already knew but lots of tidbits I didnt.
  12. that's exactly it. i spend less in a year doing maintenance, and repairs on 2-3 jeeps (not including big things that aren't general) even with multiple inspections and registrations than i do in 2 months of car payments on my truck, that i rarely drive. i just have to make sure i do the repairs in a timely manner if one breaks down. the only time I'm basically required to drive my truck is when my kids need my jeeps because their cars break down or the wife doesnt feel like sitting in my jeeps.
  13. bought my first comanche this weekend. my wife says i don't need all these jeeps. my excuse or reason is, i have one for each of the kids and 3 for me. well technically still looking for a white comanche for the youngest. i bought my eldest daughters first car she purchased (99 xj) when she got a 2010 GC, my next daughters first car she purchased (97 tj) after it was hit in a parking lot, and gave my son a 99 xj (technically still my title). I have a 99 xj, 01 tj, and now an 88 mj. alternatively my excuse is, its cheaper to swap between vehicles than it is to buy a new one.
