  1. Charles, It looks to me that it is just too much lift for not running a SYE. When I installed my new springs, they had 5 leaves in them and they lifted the rear 10". Mine looked alot like yours does now. The place I bought them from said they were for the metric ton MJ. Any way I had to take the thickest of the leaf springs out and get a set of stock XJ shackles. Taking the thick leafs out and going to XJ shackles lowered down about 3 inches. For a total lift of 7" over stock. I think that if you are going to keep it at that height, I would get the SYE. Even if you do get it to work, how long will the U joints hold up? Just my 2 cents.
  2. That thing looks awesome! Are those 35" on there?
  3. I think I would try and take some lift out of the rear. That sure looks like about 9" of lift in the rear. Mine is at 7" and it does not look near that high. At 7" of lift in the rear, I had no issues with my rear drive shaft. I think if I would have went higher, I would have had do do the SYE. Tim
  4. Comanchedude, What drive shaft shop did you use?

    Tubing Bender

I am thinking about buying a tubing bender. I have looked at the one that Mtech sells and the one from Tube Tek. Does anyone have any expirence with either of these or does any one have any recomendations for benders? Thanks
  7. Here is a few pics from my trip to Natural Bridge Kentucly this past weekend. Just thought I would share and of course my MJ was the only one there.
  8. I will admit, I had my concerns about DBs also. But when building my MJ, I bought a set of the DBs for mine with 7" of lift. I am running sky jacker upper and lower control arms with them. They are awesome, it flexes like mad and drives great on the street. I think until you have a set, install them, drive on the street with them and wheel with them, you probaly should not bash them or the design. I am very happy with the way mine turned out and the way it performs on and offroad. That is just my input for what it is worth.
  9. It seems that I am up way too late, I meant to add the word weight into that sentence. I need to sleep!
  10. That thing is awesome, I am curious how much he added with all the cage work.
  11. I can speak for the JCR 1 ton setup. I have been running it on my MJ for 6 months. It is an impressive set up and very beefy. I can't imagine breaking or bending this stuff. The only conplaint that I have is the polyurethane bushing they send with the kit that keeps it from rolling. It was toasted after two wheeling trips. I replaced it with a teflon bushing and it seems to be working very good now. As far as the installation, it was pretty easy to install. As long as you have the right drill bits and the right reamer. The knuckles themselves were very easy to drill, they are very soft, the pitman arm was a pain in the butt to ream out though. Hope this helps. Tim
  12. As much as I hate to say this, I am out for the 11th. My daughter has a soccer tournament all weekend. I hope I can make the next one.
  13. CW, going through your thread, how did the airsoft pellets work for tire balancing? Where do I find them and information on how much to use for certain tire sizes? MJ looks good man!
  14. A while back I bought a 89 XJ for a donor to build my MJ. It had a header on it. I saved it when I sold the engine. I have to replace my exhaust from the converter back any way. It has been pieced together and now is time to replace it. So I thought why not install the header since I already have it? It is worth the trouble? I am not sure what brand it is.
  15. Where is everyone mounting your CBs and Antennas? I have mounted mine but do not like where they are. Give me some ideas of where the best place you guys think they are. Thanks
  16. I don't think I will bother beating it back out. I will just keep wheeling it. I want to flat bed it some day. I figured I would just wheel it until the bed got too beat up and then I will flat bed it. This was the first real trip with the MJ and it did awesome. It climbs really well. Wheelbase rocks! But you have to realize what I was wheeling before, it was a CJ-5 manual transmission with a Carb, and now go to 30" more wheelbase, Auto and fuel injection is awesome.
  17. Made it back and it was a great time except for the tree that got the side of my MJ. Here is some of pics that I took. Tree Damage Tow Rig and MJ Trails My Co Pilot Otto Otto after getting home Sorry about the dark photos, I have got to buy a new camera! I did not take alot of pics on the trail and every time you get back and down load them you wished you took more.
  18. Are those stock Jeep wheels? I have been looking for a set of plain steel wheels 15 X 8 for my MJ. The only place that I found was Stockton wheel and man are they expensive! They basically make them after you order them. I guess I will settle for the black american racing wheel.
  19. How hot does your tunnel get with having no carpet? I had to rip the carpet out of mine because it was so smelly. After I ripped it out, I found out why, the floor was gone on the drivers side and the carpet was the floor. I woild like to get a rubber mat for the inside but have not found one cheap enough yet. I like the wheel and tire combination on your MJ. Looks good and keep posting the updates and pics!
  20. Leaving tonight for 2 full days of wheeling at harlan county trails. I can't wait, it has been almost 2 years since I have been. It will be the first real wheeling trip with the MJ! I am ready!
