In the rear, I only trimmed a little. I decided to run stock flares, so I didnt want to go past the holes. Plus the stuff I took off is more then enough to clear these tires. And I cleaned, and painted the floors.

Thanks Pete, honestly, I was unsure where to put this one. I meant the front fenders, not the flares. I think I'll go ahead and cut...hopefully I don't destroy the whole thing............. :brows:
-
I know this isnt technicaly general discussion, but it doesnt feel technical either. I trimmed up the front, but I'm not sure if I like it. I think that I could have gotten away without it. Should I continue with the cut/fold in the rear? Not quite sure I should, I know I will not rub with these tires with the bumpstopping. I'm debating pulling the fenders from the parts XJ and putting them on the MJ. What should I do???????????????????????

I wanted the Q78s, but they are almost 36" tall, and without the funds for gearing this summer, they were not an option. I settled for these tires, and am glad I did. They are on 15x7s, and should perform well on the trail.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the garbage. Theres a couch, fridge, and PC a ways down from the Lucy Stone house. ATVs and dirtbikes are very loud..and when there is a group of them, I can't blame the neighoring people. Hopefully things will turn out well, we can't afford to lose another public place like Coy that is both stocker and built Jeep friendly.
-
Word around the forums is Coy is CLOSED and you will get a HEAVY fine if you are found out there. I'd prefer to stay away from there for a little while until I know exactly whats going on. Nice place though, I have been there a few times. Could you possibly provide a little insight as to what is happening? We were talking about it at a trail cut yeterday. Thanks AND I forgot to measure the MJ...tomorrow when its on all 4 tires again.

I agree...we should have a Comanche outing. Are you a member of any local clubs? I've joined New England Jeepz. Mitch is a member also...check it out if you are looking for a club. :)

I honestly have no idea how much lift I have. The coils are VERY used, and have been around my club more then a few times. I would imagine they are betwen 5"-6". I have not trimmed anything from the fenders..and don't really have clearance issues...only when turning, the tires rub on the spash guard. Once everything is bumpstopped, I should have NO issues. The tires are thin enough that they tuck into the fenders nicley. You can see what I mean there. The front will be trimmed about an inch up, and I don't plan to use fender flares. I think that if I trimmed the front and rear, I could fit 35"s or maybe 36"s with this lift. I love the look of skinny tires, and have seen them perform very well. I have not really taken these tires on any trails yet, only on my neighbor's rock pile. The side lugs are HUGE, and will have insane grip. Skinny tires are able to dig down and get traction where a wider tire would float over stuff. I'll have some wheeling pics starting in July when it goes on the road. 87Manche also has these tires, but at 3", and he likes them a lot. Maybe he will chime in on performance. And tomorrow I will measure identical places between the MJ and the XJ to see how much front lift I have. :waving:

You can kind of see what I did here. Its just a modified XJ mount that I cut off my spare D35. Works well. With SOA, and stock shocks, it will flex until the leaves become inverted. here's a flex shot. Un-trimmed, no flares, 34x9.50s. You can see the e-brake cable...it looks like its coming out of the spring perch and going up at 10-11 o-clock. Its VERY tight. I need some bumpstops on this rig badly! Rockhound- If you want, I can get a better pic tomorrow 8)

Looks good dude. Sounds a lot like my MJ, with all the problems and such. FYI, I had to paste in the URL to see the pics...I don't know why ther aren't showing up. Try Comanche Club Image Hosting. :D

Not quite sure. I re-read your first post, and get the point that Sears and Jeep would be good together, but I just don't really imagine it happening. I was more or less responding to the last line of your first post... I'm just wondering what good this would do? Kind of like writing our senators to tell them that illegal aliens should be deported...nothing will really happen. Maybe I'm just missing your point. I'm not trying to come across as a jerk...but it might sound like it  And sorry for hijacking your thread. No harm meant ;)

I honestly don't think that us writing letters will sway Sears's oppinion into purchasing Jeep. What is done is done. The Jeep line is WELL known, and any company that does away with it, or changes it drasticly will be hard pressed.

OK IT WILL BE GOOD TO SEE YOU!

Mitch, are you going to Maki's tomorrow?
-
Jesus, Mitch! The hot chick thread in the uncensord forum...then hot chicks here too... Have you been drinking again :D

More pics! As you can see...there isnt much protrusion past the fenders. New steering wheel!

I've been wondering how to do this myself. Thanks for the post Eagle!

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303893 I highly recommend them. Very nice on the phone. Ordered last Friday afternoon, shipped Monday, arrived today.

Mine: 2 MJs 2 XJs Mom's 1 YJ

Spacers came today. $160 shipped for 4. These tires are so narrow, that the rears have less then 1" sticking out, and the fronts have about 1.5" sticking out. Modified stock flares will cover these.

what the heck is good about OME? they look like CRAP
Twisty replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The problem with creating MJ specific parts, is the demand. There isnt much, because there are so few. There are only 1-2 companies that make rear bumpers, and 1 company that makes rock rails. RE, Rustys, RC, and a few others make MJ lift kits, but just about everything else needs to be fabricated. -
I think thats pretty cool.. I have a watercooling system for my desktop. Its a pretty crappy "kit" that I bought that does not have very wide tubing..but I have CPU and GPU coolers, and the temps stay rather low. I like it Now I have to try the mineral oil thing with my spare P4 and motherboard. Question.........do you put the hard drive in the mineral oil too, or just the motherboard, and cards?
