  1. The broken out put was for the front side of the transfer case to the front drive shaft. So to answer your question, that is the front drive shaft contacted to that yoke that was connected to the front out put for the t case that sheered. I'm guessing week casting material but who knows. That Was 2 years ago, now the t case has the wide chain and gears out of a Chevy 231....
  2. Thanks shes been good to me so far...
  3. put a 8.8 in it and lock that. dana tirdy5 are no jueno....
  4. I like where this is going. Let me know if you need any thing or your looking for parts cuse I'm a MJ parts horder.
  5. Can you check and see if any of the 97 Xj's have the cruise control switches on the steering wheel? But the switches MUST be from a 97 or they won't work for me... Let me know please. Thanks

  7. So it's been a while since I posted in this thread, but I've got some big changes coming soon for the MJ. I just recently sold off one of my other crawlers so its time to give the MJ some much needed attention. I recently picked up a 94ford dana 60 that will be going in to the MJ. I just need to find a 14bolt with disks for the rear. I have mangled the short bed on the truck so my new plan is to stretch the rear a bit and installing a long bed that I currently have and bobbing the rear of the bed to Mach the length of the short bed. I also acquired a passenger side b pillar that I am going to use to replace the one that's currently trashed. Once all of that is done ill guile 2x6x3/8 rockers in and build a full exo cage around the new sheet metal to try and help keep it dent free this time.... I'll post some pics of the MJ soon along with the d60 and the bed that I will be using....
  8. Hey thanks, Its an addiction that for me has been worse than crack, but at least its not as bad on the health. I’ve bought and sold a lot of XJ's in the past and a few MJ's. Since this was suppose to be a replacement body for my mj, I’ve begun the search for another short bed mj to replace my body with. Now back to the crapmanche... It didn’t take long for me to start gutting the inside of the truck and can I just say it was filthy. The Mj had been sitting in the back of an older guys house with out a motor for about 5 years and the sun sure did a number on the inside. I love the desert south west for the lack of rust on the MJ's and XJ's, but the sun sure takes its toll on all of the plastic parts and paint. I don’t have many pictures of the tear down, I’m bad about snapping pictures, but J9 will be relocating down here some time soon so she’s going to be the photographer for this project. After striping down the 99 Xj I had a trailer and bed full of parts I rolled the comanche in to my shop and hung the 99 doors but at this point I still hadent installed the strikers. this is about the time i started on mock up for the dash and all of the other tidbits that are needed to get the fire wall modified for the swap. If you have fallowed and of the other 99 swaps then you know what firewall mods need to be made to get the dash in, with that being said here's some of my mock up pictures ... during mockup i had used the gasket from both the 87, and the 99 around where the heater core outlet. after much tought i changed that but ill get in to that a little later. Ive had J9 start picking up some parts for this thing and I'm hopeing that she will chime in on things that she wants for the finishe product for this truck. This bild thread is to share some of the progress with her as she iss 500miles from me for the time being but thats soon to change.... More to come......
  9. So ive been working on a 87 short bed MJ that I acquired about a year ago as a replacement body for my Comanche, so I thought I would share what I was doing to the truck and the story that goes with it. A build thread if you will.... After picking up the MJ as a roller with no motor in it my plans were to strip every thing off of my truck and transfer it over to a clean slate. My truck has been great to me but I haven’t been so great to the truck. don't get me wrong, I love my MJ but at the time I finished the truck I was called out to just south of Lake Tahoe Ca for work. Knowing I was going to be that close to the Rubicon I wasn’t going to just leave my MJ at home. well lets just say the Rubicon defiantly took its toll on my truck not to mention the 2 trips to Moab ut and all of the trails around Las Cruses NM. This story changes pace during a trip to Moab, and during that trip I met a super sexy lady, we will call her J9. After a bit of hitting on her ive acquired her heart and let me say SHES super beautiful, has a good head on her shoulders, and besides that she’s a jeep girl with a set up xj. What more could a guy want? I invited her down for Christmas and this was her Christmas present. So the plan now is a full 99 swap with all of the options offered. I bought a rolled 99 2door xj a while back and most of the parts will be donated from that one but I have acquired a bunch of other little things from some other XJs that I have parted out like a nice set of leather 6way power and heated seats. But enough of my babbling now on to some pictures... here's how it looked the day I drug it home... Originally it had a 2.5 and was 2 wheel drive. Not bad for 250$ and its rust free.... I love living in the Desert south west...
  10. why not use a 96 xj pump and sender in a non slosh MJ tank? the values ( ohm's ) are the same as a 97-01 sender and it fits in the MJ tank, even has the corect plug for the harness your using.... thats what I'm in the process of working on right now on my GF mj swap.....
  11. This truck makes me laughf..... seriously..... :rotf:
  12. Haven been on here in a while but i just bought me another project MJ. Its an 86, 2.5, ax4.4x4... I got it for 250$ with no rust but it had been sitting for the past three years due to sme one rearending it and breaking a tial light. The PO said that he searched up and down for the light but gave up and parked it. Luckey for me because i have 3 complete sets of light and one drivers side tail light wich happens to be the broken one. After draning the fuel via a paper clip in the fuel pump relay, filling it with new gas and replacing the fuel filter she sparked back to life. After running her for a bit i realised that there is a hair line crack in the intake manifold that is leaking water, I don't realy understand why some people somt belive in antifreeze. I know thw newer MPIF 2.5s arent water jacketed intake manifolds and i was wondering why the TBI one was. Or realy i should say if i could by pass the line that goes to the intake manifold. Any thoughts... Eventualy some time soon ill get over to the local U pull it and grab an Intake manifold but i was wondering if i could get by in the mean time by bypassing it... I am usually a 4.0 guy but for the price i couldent say no to this one.... Thanks for any help....
  13. Well with the 2wd rear leaf packs and a add a leaf that have been well broken in, and 8" coils with the heavy @$$ winch bumper on the front she sits closer to a 6" lift. Shes actualy pritty stable in off camber situations. But yeah that cliff face had be clintching my seat i will admit.
  14. thanks guys... :MJ 1:
  15. It has been a long project. When i first met robert he asked if i could help him put a motor in his comanche, I refered him to this site and said sure. when he drug the truck and the motor to my house, First the truck looked like it had just came from the junk yars and a second after pulling the valve cover on the WJ 4.0 he brought it had 3" of sluge on every thing. I called him and told him either scrap the idea or buy a good running donor... With the limited mechanical skills at the time that he met me, I have to say i am amazed that he made the right decision, and dident sell me the truck, and bought a bad @$$ donor. Robert could almost do the swap him self now ant the truck speaks for its self. It is in no way finished but it is getting there little by little... and best of all he is driving it agian...
  16. So Its been way to long since ive posted on this fourm and i thought id update to where the comanche has been since last post and the things that have been done to it. Ive been doing lots of wheeling around El Paso and even got the comanche back up to moab UT for this years fall fling (2012) the truck performed flawlessly and luckly i dident break any thing this year. Realy the only thing that ive added to the comanche are rock lights for the night itme wheeling we do here. I am curently looking for a new to me short box so that i can replace the crunched coke can i have in the back. I have how ever found the Drivers side b pillar and cab corner so all i need now is the Pasanger side b pillar, short bed and rocker pannels, Does any one make NEW MJ spacific rocker pannels? So if any one knows where there is a short bed, passanger side b piller/cab corner or a whole comanche that has been smashed from the front any where with in 5hrs from my house id love to hear from you (please) I also just recently bought another MJ (87 shortbed 2.5 2WD) that i got for 250$ as a roller as the motor had blown up and been yanked a long time ago. I origonaly bought it for the bed but ive decided to start a 99 swap on this one and ill be starting a build thread on that one soon. I have been bulding a 98 XJ for as my crawler so when i have aquired all of the rest of the sheet metal for redzilla ( don't realy know why i call it redzilla cuse its realy black, I'm kinda dumb like that) Ill be striping her back down and re skinning her to her origonal glory. But i can allready see thats going to be a ways down the road. The only problem i had after this years trip to moab ut was i wasted ( bent ) the rear drive shaft on the mj but I had it resleaved at U-Joints of El Paso... Now on to some pictures of the El Paso wheeling and this years fall fling.... and ill throw one in of the 99 XJ that i have been building to smash up... here's a video of the xj ive been working on, Ive gotten progresivly bigger balls and this is why i don't wana crawl the mj any more And my trip to this years fall fling, and ive had a certan Girl from the fall fling grow on me so fall fling was definatly a FALL FLING for me. Hells gates and mickeys hot tub were definatly the high light of this trip. I made it through both with out a hitch or line i should say. I was kind of intimidated by mickeys hot tub because ive seen videos of buggies that got in and couldent make it back out, Its alot deeper that it looks in the pictures but the trick is momentum...
  17. Robert, I have to say this truck has done a full 360 from the junk yard truck you brought me.... I'm glad that your finaly driving it. now finish up that interior and lets see what that front bumper youve been working on.
  18. How much for the bed and gate? I'm over here in el paso but I could come pick it up for the right price.... Any damage to the bed? Pm me details.... The favicon took its Toll on my bed....
  19. do you still need the gate hard ware?
  20. hey so...... since i allready know..... wheres the progress? :shake:
  21. here i am fixing my broken axel shaft. Ive got it down to a sience..... 15 min and I'm ready to rock some more..... here i am on the eseclator, It had just rained a bit before we got to this obstical so it was realy slick i made it up the first ledge but.... I had to be pullde up the second ledge, I sliped off the side and when atempting the climp agian i ended up resting it on the top of the rear passanger bed rail.... all in all i had a great time..................
  22. As promased here some pictures of my trip to moab UT... I went and joined in with NAXJA on this run and it was the Fall Fling. I realy has a great time running with toes guys and i can say that i will be back in moab for next years fall fling. There were aproaxamently 20 XJ's but as usual I was the only manche on the trails. we ran rusty nail on wedensday, and broke a front output shaft for the 231 half way through the trail. Can I just say it sucks being pullde back to camp. Luckly a fellow XJer has the input shaft i needed so i spent the cold night puting it back together. thursday we ran the pickle and mashed potato, friday we ran cliff hanger ans saturday we ran hells revenge.... the only other brakage i had was on friday on hells revenge, Right before getting to the escalator i could head a clicking from my front passanger side. I lost a cap for the u joint and it began to wollow out the stub shaft. I had a spare so i replaced that shaft and continued on to the escalator. last place i hit satirday was potato sallad hill and i am impressed out of 9 xjs that atempted potato sallad hill my mj and one other xj on tons made it up.... thoes extra 9 or 10 inches helps. but enoughf :typing: Potato salad hill. ( it was up on two wheels just before this pic was taken....) going in the car wash comming out of Carwash on hells revenge beggining of rusty nail my broken output shaft ( it sheared right off) :fs2: just before pic above on potato salad hill Climbing a watter fall on the pickle This was on mashed potato comming out of the gravy bowl on the left line, my jeep just wouldent climb the right line like the xjs ( that extra 10 in hurt me here) but as you come out on the line that i took you get extreemly close to a 500' vertical cliff and the worst thing is your way off camburg to the cliff face. I honestly had my a$$ clinched so tight here that there is still a mark in the seat :chillin: here's the gravy bowl if you look close youll notice the right line that i just couldent make it up...
  23. I was also able to make it to the NAXJA fall fling in Moab UT on my way back to Texas. Ive never been to moab (or the rubicon for that matter) sothis work trip was more of a wheeling vacation than any thing else.... ill post up pics as soon as i upload them to photo bucket...
  24. So I finaly returned back home from my work detail at the mountian warfare traning center just out side of Reno NV. I spent most of the summer up there working and can I just say the eastern seirra nevadas and can i just say that that is gods country! I was able to drag the comanche along with me and while I was up there I got to run the Rubicon Trail, I had a blast and the jeep performed almost flawlessly. I ended up slicing a side wall coming back up the big sluce box and in turnds landed the comanche on its passanger ides on to a boulder. I dident get any pictures as it was an expedited recovery. but becides loosing a tire and smashing the side :( the comanche wheels like a champ... here's some pictures of the rubicon. I spent three days on the rubicon the weekend before the jeep jamboree in july....
