  1. It must be closer to being on the trail then?
  2. I would go the TNT kit without a doubt. I love mine to death. The flex is awesome. The mounting system is unbeatable. Plus you don't give up much ground clearence at all. It is a well biult kit and the customer service from Bob is great.
  3. I put a 99 8.25 with 29 spline axles in my 91. I have abused it with 33 inch boggers and have had no breakage issues yet. I would do it again, no complaints here.
  4. My 91 was bone stock when I got it. It had a 231 with a disconnect front axle. It also had the contact switch on the disconnect itself. No blue switch in mine on the passenger fenderwell. I am wondering about the danna 44 rear axle though.
  5. I messed with it last night for awhile. It actually had bad light sockets in the front. Swapped them out and they are up and running again. Thanks
  6. On my 88 the park lights below the headlights don't work. The turn signals do but nothing else. I have replaced the bulbs and cleaned the sockets. I would like to get this fixed because it makes the turn indicators in the cb light up. Has anyone else had this problem before? My next step is to tear the header panel off to get to that connector for all of the front lights. Unless someone else has a different idea. Thanks in advance
  7. I just did this swap on my 88 mj using a cluster from a 87 limited. You can tear apart the odometer to make it match. There is a write up on NAXJA about how to do it. My donor cluster had a 121k on it and truck has 131k on it. Really easy to adjust just take some time. Total time including swapping the sending units was around an hour and half to almost two hours. Hope that helps.
  8. I have had 5 different MJs and currently have two in my driveway. I love both of them. Dependable, easy and affordable to repair. Most XJ parts fit them and there a million of those to choose from. MJs get get good mileage and seem to run for a good long time with 4.0 under the hood. You just need to maintain it like anything else. I have also owned 3 ZJs 2 93s and currently a 95. My girlfriend drives it daily. All of them have been 5.2s. Plenty of power and options so on, but they do have problems. Depends of the style of front driveshaft, one type is junk. The transfer case has a VC in it that goes bad regularly in the 249 t case. You can swap in a 242 which I am getting ready to do. Trannies are weak in them to say the least. If yours has the danna in the rear it has a alloy center section, which is complete trash. Only other bolt in option is a dana 35 that is definately not an improvment. If you buy a 5.9 premium gas only so hold on to your wallet. Parts for the 5.9 GC are way higher than 5.2 and those prices are higher than MJ parts anyday. As much as I would like to have a 5.9 it is not wise purchase if you plan on driving it daily. If it were me I would get the MJ and drive it. You see a million ZJ everyday and maybe one or two MJs a week. That in itself is way cooler to me.HTH
  9. Yes they do. When are you gonna pics of your all back together? I really dig the green.
  10. Here is my 88 I just picked up Image Not Found Image Not Found It has 131k on it, 4.0 5 speed 4x4. 30x9.50x15 all terrains, rockkrawler wheels, and so on. It is my new daily driver for awhile.
  11. Here is some pics of my 1991 Eliminator. 4.0 AX15 231 I have alot of time and money in this MJ. I have most of the work myself. mods are as follows- -TNT customs Y Link -RE 7.5 coils -Rockkrawler trackbar, bracket, and X Factor steering -Rear SOA with add a leaf -Added a lockrite to the dana 30 -8.25 29 spline with ZJ rear disk brakes -33x12.50x15 boggers on 15x10 wheels -Formatt Fabrication tube doors -The list goes on and on I ordered my TNT customs front bumper last week and my Ramsey 8500 lb winch showed up today. Soon as the bumper gets here it is off to the powdercoaters. As soon as I figure out whats going on with my camera I will post up pics of the 88 I just picked up.
  12. Mine used to be all black. After I bought the longarm and everything else I decided to show off a little I guess. Although it is shiny now I am not afraid to wheel it. If you look you can see the box is caved in on both sides.
  13. I think I finally figured out the picture deal. So I would like to show you guys what I have been up to all winter. What do you think?
  14. I bought the hi lift 4x4 rack for cj and yj bumpers. Then I used them to mount it to the passenger side boxside on the inside of course. Make sure you use large diameter washers on the inside to spread the weight. It works out really well for me and it is out of the way.
  15. I am planning on centering it in the wells. I just wanted a ough idea on where to roughly start from. Thanks for the info so far. I am hoping to find a happy medium between caster and pinion angles. It will be one big experiment for a while.
  16. I am adjusting my new TNT longarm kit. For a reference I am looking for the stock wheelbase for a MJ shortbox. If someone knows this I would like to know. Thanks in advance, Dustin
  17. I planned on putting skids on the LCA mounts. I have already wasted mine twice. The tubes are already welded to center. Never thought about trussing the right though. Thats a good idea. Everything ws done really well on this axle. I bought it from the owner of the shop.
  18. I am working on finishing up my TNT longarm install. My front axle needed new hubs, and one knuckle joint replaced. So I figured while I had it apart I would get a lock rite for it. I called my local off road shop to get a price. One of the guys that works there just put a 44/9 inch combo in his cherokee. He priced out a lock rite to me for $280 bucks. Then in the same breath he tells he has his old axle. It was a HP 30 with 297 shafts, new hubs, and a lock rite with 3.55 gears to match my current set up. So I asked out sheer wonder what he wanted for it. He said 300 takes it out the door. I hauled tail to the shop to take a look. Checked it out and haggled a little and took it home for $275. That was one lucky find for me.
  19. Scorpion, Keep me posted on the steering I am gonna need something soon. Hoping to have the rest of the lift done by the end of Janurary. I also am willing to try out anything.
  20. Thanks for helping me out there. I am looking forward to getting my TNT long arm on. How is you guys steering coming? I am gonna be looking for something real soon and would like to keep the business with you guys.
  21. I agree it could be done with the tools you listed. I just got flamed for saying I liked the idea. I guess having a different way of looking at things is wrong for some around here. By saying it was a good idea and stating I had no wheel hop issues I must be out bounds for being different than some. Just because a company comes out with a product you can not see using doesn't mean they make junk. I have ordered their longarm kit and dealt with guys on the phone. All I have to say is guys are great to deal with. I am not about to start any crap but that is what I think.
  22. I am not saying they can't be homemade. If you want to or can go for it. I don't have a lot stuff in my home shop. I slowly building up my home tool collection. Not all of us are like you and know it all. Get off me if you know so much go tell it to someone that wants to listen to you. If can do it great, since I don't have nice welder or drill press in my garage it might be just a little tough. Why don't you take that in to consideration before you flame me for having a different opinion than yours. If you want be like that go on pirate they like it that way there. Sorry if it pisses you off ,but I am not like you and at this point proud of it.
  23. First of all they are way wider and built of better material. I have rolled the perches on 3 different rear axles. Not just stock perches either. For someone wanting 1-1.5 of wheelbase gain even better. As far as wheelhop, I have wheeled two comanches and a cherokee. All of them with 4.0s and have never had a wheelhop problem. Both MJs were SOA. It is a basic design, if it was such a easy thing why haven't any of you thought of and/or built them. Not to mention a good way to get .75 or 1.5 inches of lift without a block after add a leafs or whatever your combo is. Plus if it comes from TNT Customs it has to have a reason and be usable.
  24. If you look closely they are a little complicated than that. Plus they make your wheelbase adjustable. I think it is an awesome idea myself.
