Is eagle grabbing the air/bug guard cause I'm really interested.
  3. Thank you, they won't be damaged in the mold making process. Ill send you a extra set with them. going to do a test run casting these first.
  4. They have slight denominational quality. With cutting it would leave an extreme hard edge. They would not look correct, or would require sanding. Versus casting the 3 pieces as (left side mother mold) and (right side mother mold). Making them perfect from the OEM moldings.
  5. Good Afternoon guys, I have been working in art for most of my life. Want to give back to CC in someway. I recently received two door moldings. If anyone could temporarily donate the rest of the components OR help me track them down I would be very grateful. Today I met with my favorite plastic/Elastomere /urethane supplier and have a good lead for a exact rubber match. This in mind, simpler rubber components will be easy to reproduce in the future. I have a vinyl cutter and will begin designing CC stickers and State specific stickers soon. ( currently working on fishing lure stickers )
  6. My grandfather was a civil engineer in Mexico. Everyone called him “ chief”, I was named after him so everyone called me “white chief”. Because our family is very fair skinned for Mexicans. I live 8 miles away from the ocean! So coastal Chief worked. It came to mind with the whole Comanche thing too. The Aztecs and Mayans worshiped the warriors spirit. I believe that these cars as long as we keep them on the road. They embody that.
  7. nope lol, art! woooooo! most likely will drive up!
  8. There is a show opening at ASU at 5pm.
  9. ONE MONTH OVERVIEW ( Purchase Date: 01/28/20) ( Today’s Date: 02/28/20) This is a short review of my 1988 Jeep Comanche with 1 month of ownership. I have put close to 800 miles on the Jeep do to trips to LA (54miles) and most recently San Diego (124miles). Tempted to drive to PHX,AZ for a friends show. OVERALL - I don't think I would ever sell it. INTERIOR - At first I was extremely worried about owning a bench seat and having so much ridged plastic. Iv driven many newer vehicles with fancy lumbar support, and vented seats etc. To my surprise the bench seat promotes posture, and is fairly squishy in the best ways. Driving for over 2 hours In 75 degree weather. I did not feel fatigue, driving manual keeps me shifting my weight from side to side. All your attention is focused on the road. The Jeep feels comfortable enough. I do not have cup holders, electronic windows, or a rear window, or deep rooted complaints. The only real thing I really would love is AC. Regardless, I dry to a raisin with a smile on my face. I enjoy how simple the dash is, It’s everything that I need, nothing more. No bell, and whistle distractions, it’s a truck. The material quality seems to have proved it value with over 30 years in service. When it comes to repair on the MJ. Removing and installing parts is easy on the interior. It’s refreshing not popping plastic, or metal pins, or needing special tools. I just use a screwdriver for the most part. Its from a simpler time when you could comfortably fix your own property. The applied psychology of the car is sound with the customer in mind. Everything feels exactly where it’s supposed to be, within reach. All the nobs, switches, are also simple. It’s easy to get inside, and immediately understand the vehicle. Behind me, the carpet kit does have a distinct sunburn carpet smell, familiar to people that have been on boats. UPGRADES INTERIOR - original owners bench seat cover. - 1988 Cluster with Tachometer - Speedometer Cable - 1990s Carpet kit - crap $12 Sunshade - Sentinel Light Relay - aftermarket rubber slush floor mats Interior parts ( not installed ) - Tracker Marine map Lights - White LED for cluster gauge. - ECU - AMC Bed Matt - New glovebox latch & light switch - Jeep Floor matts - 2 Jeep radios 171 & 173 - clock Interior parts wanted - (in order of desire) - AC - “Jeep” emblem Sunshade iv seen one with just big Jeep letters and one that says “ easy to be a truck hard to be a Jeep” I think. -“Comanche“ Dash cover seen a few people with it on here. - drivers side handle with chrome trim - Lighter - NOS Rear window - Dash DISLIKES. - Sanyo radio - 1 broken 173 radio - Lazy wiring behind speaker - Lazy speaker Job - small crack in cubby area under glovebox - small crack on drivers side - Lazy touch up paint behind bench seat in some areas. -Lazy electronics I may have not found - Missing liner along back wall of cabin - map lights not working - Crack in drivers side door handle chrome trim - Faded chrome interior trim - some slight body screw and bolt oxidation. - No rear window ( pretty ok with it for now) - No AC - Random temp gauge ! EXTERIOR - Its a iconic looking car, styled for the 1980s. Super geometric- looking to the future with optimism. Consistency in thought, and design - outside visually matches inside. UPGRADES EXTERIOR Camper Shell - BacPac tow light outlet some touch up paint Upgrades Exterior - ( Not Installed ) Brush Guard Mesh Wire Headlight Covers Upgrades Wanted- (in order of desire) Capet Kit restoration Tonneau Cover DISLIKES handles are starting to show age -Random mirrors from Jimmy Hoffa’s grave site. - paint is starting to show some age, light chipping. Very small spotting - overall engine bay needs attention VALUE It’s a truck made by AMC Jeep with under 200k produced. It’s a sibling the XJ, a car that was made until 2016 in China. If a US/FR/MX/CN manufactured Frankenstein vehicle doesn't interest you? What does? With XJ numbers over 2 million plus. With a rising off-road/ DIY culture. Anything with limited numbers , and period present design quality will rise in value. The XJ has been featured on a growing number of collectors lists. Including many “ cars to buy” videos. The number being taken off the road is greater than staying on the road being taken care of. With contemporary references of the Comanche by Jeep during press releases. Further drives interest in the car. The 1980s is the new childhood for most adults. If you look at pop culture currently, the 1980s-90s have never been cooler! Queen, Spaceflight, gaming culture, electronics, Top Gun 2, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Sonic, Dungeons and Dragons, Magic the Gathering, Cold War, Bill Murray, Ghost Busters, Etc. All the fun stuff from the 1980s is........BACK FROM THE FUTURE..( see what I did there) The Jeep Gladiator/ Tesla Truck / Tacoma/ Colorado/F-150 etc. Have become some of the stars of current American car culture. I would be hard pressed to be convinced. That a small numbers production run, workhorse offshoot of one of the most iconic off-road vehicles ever made. From one of the most iconic American auto brands at its height. Would not go up in value in the future auto market. As auto buyers age, and gain wealth. They want to gain a piece of the past. Some just wanted a reliable Jeep and not a Fiat that falls out of gear after 60k miles. I wanted a MJ because of an XJ my sister owned. It would never die and get us anywhere we wanted. Many people who grew up around, or seeing these are entering there 30s-40s early 50s. 1980s vehicles are next in line for classics. American ( well mostly American) made is becoming a rarity with global trade and economics. These are the last of their kind. Simple, digestible work vehicles, with consumer friendly repair in mind.
  10. Hahaha! I saw how nice your Jeep was turning out. Thought of you immediately when I saw the sticker. I’ll gladly send it out for reproduction soon. Maybe some folks here want them? Also, any diagram or parts list for the AC? I just cut out the controller. I have no idea what I’m looking for 😅. We really are, surprised how well preserved everything is. If you drive out there might be some out here!
  11. I got a small thing for someone who really wants to go super restoration mode. (Cough, “eaglescout“ cough )
  12. Today marks one month of ownership with the Jeep. Got her and I some special gifts, drove 2 hours to pick this Jeep. Got there right at opening. Was sad to see how poorly treated she was in 24hrs. Broken tail light from whoever ripped the tailgate off etc. I could tell someone was hiding parts in the truck bed. Trying to hide the matt and all the emblems under old Renegade parts. No hiding from me! I was extremely happy to see it had AC and a lot of accessories that I really wanted. Got a AMC bed matt, and the Warn brush guard that mounts to the stock bumper. Along with some small things, like headlight guards, and extra caps, emblems. Disappointed to find the rear window was severely damaged with a plexi inserts. I left the wheels because a member had been working on getting me really clean ones. On my way out another Comanche pulled up and took some small engine parts, surprised he didn’t take more. Got a few meetings with suppliers for the rubber for reproduction body molding tomorrow morning aswell. On a personal note: this Jeep has been a good luck charm so far. Excited for the future! Cheers! thank you for all those who help along the way!
  13. A big reason why I got this truck in the first place, really. I just enjoy how simple it is.
  14. outdoor for summer. week the longest
  15. 89 it’s literally whole. Makes me sad
  16. I’ll defiantly most likely take you up on that. I’m looking at a MJ in the junkyard as we speak. It’s 2 hours away but has a brush guard and the AC components. About to head out .
  17. Thank you, I’ll keep an eye out for a Renix with AC. I’ll try and find the threads! Thank you guys!
  18. Has anyone had success with adding AC to a non AC truck. Iv found a thread on here, but it has no results. Curious if anyone has a parts list, or kit theyve used?
  19. Thank you all for your really well thought out responses. I just want to keep it a 1988 time capsule with modifications only to improve mechanical/ electrical reliability. I’m not entering any auto shows etc, so I don’t need to be down to the extremely fine details. I don’t plan on selling the truck. ( Iv been offered 8k) already. My sister dropped me off in grade school in a XJ. My stepdad taught me to drive manual in a YJ. I got hit by a semi owning before this Jeep. That in mind I could have bought something with airbags . None the less after being merged into by Optimus Prime. I got this Jeep death trap because I love it. I really enjoy Jeeps history, and they don’t make cars that feel this solid anymore. When I park I always double check the locks, keep it clean. Not to tempt anyone to break in. If I go eat it’s always in my vision.
  20. were all within 20-100 miles of eachother
  21. they look very much like boat parts. They are really square and look like they belong. That black and silver looks amazing.
  22. looking to complete my Comanche. I'm a sucker for turbine wheels/
  23. Ill have to start organizing an area for parts before the parental unit says something! Thank you so much, I really am starting to understand what I have. Someone the other day tried to purchase it from me at a stoplight. I worry about racking the mileage up on it too much, I drive sometimes 400 miles in a week.
  24. I was told it’s a old carpet kit. The camper is just a little larger. I do plan to camp and go fishing with the Jeep soon.
