Mine. 1986 Comanche. 2.5, non air conditioning. 5 speed, 4x4, throttle body injection. Posible bad head gasket, clutch is toast due to leaking front transmission seal. Donor 1985 Cherokee. 2.5, 5speed 4x4 , with air conditioning, carburetated. Motor rebuild recently. Question. Since my 86 is having clutch and head gasket issues and no air conditioning. I was looking into swapping the 2.5 with the 5 speed transmission and install air conditioning system into my 86. And keep my throttle body intake. And yes i would love to install a 6 cylinder. But I don't want to go buy one since I already have the doner. Your thoughts. Good and bad. Thank you all.

The little wire thats inside the drum has to be routed a certain way. Double check.
-
Yeah, I will also be interested in what someone will say. I have the same problem. But mine is a little worse. I believe that the seal on the front of the transmission is leaking too. And is killing the clutch...

Check vacuum tubing. -
Oh yes it is harsh. But I would rather feel everything about how the car is acting. I remember seeing a focus motor move so much that it was almost hitting the firewall with Factory bushings.
-
Its not the whole clip. Its the bumper, grill assembly with the really cool hidden hood (bonnet) key/lock hole under the Ford center emblem. And the plastic piece that goes around the lock, sits above the grill that hooks into the air snorkel. That last plastic piece I mentioned, the US version, has blockage in front of the snorkel. The US, knows that you free up the air flow, the car goes faster. The European Ford focus has this like a ram air system. I have only wished if I had the money to get my UK friend who was willing to send me the factory front and rear bumper, bonnet lock and other cool euro gear.

But also, I have installed a black iceman cold air intake, 2 inch cat back exhaust, h and r lowering springs with kyb gas adjustable struts and shocks, Factory Ford European front bumper and snorkel air intake. But the best thing I installed, a Thorpe limited slip differential. Holy guacamole Batman.

Yep. The love of part trucks. I have a 1985 and a 1989 Cherokee at my disposal.

Yes I do have vibrations coming through the steering wheel. But it isn't that harsh. I love my polyurethane mounts. I can even chirp third gear.
-
Yes, but what do you want, a cushy sedated car? Or a fun driving feel everything from through the steering wheel, chirp third gear, kick in pants street legal go cart.
-
Yes fender, door and 1997 mirror.

I have replaced my stock rubber mounts with polyurethane. A HUGE IMPROVEMENT.

But I am also a starter but never finisher. November of last year, my clutch took a dump. So i thought how hard is it to swap it out. Life issues and health problems got in my way, and now with smashed, broken fingers. I'm taking my fungus into the local repair shop. So they can finish the job. Pictures coming soon.
-
Oh yes I agree. But when I bought mine in November 2000 new (yes, I'm the original owner), no one else had a 3 door for at least 6 months. Then it took a year to see one in my local junkyard. Now they are all in the junkyard. 😱

Come on everyone, let's sing along. It the same jingle as "I fought the law and the law won, I fought the law and the law won." I fought the concrete steel pole, and the pole won.

Thank you for the information

What size of tubing is required fore the 2.5?
-
What size of vacuum tubing should I ask for?
-
Today I'm swapping out (probably original) front shocks for kyb. I'm keeping the factory ride height.

86 Comanche. 2.5 5speed 4x4. Start up and warmed up, I have a rough idle. But normal acceleration. Replaced Fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, cap and rotor. Next will be checking the vacuum system for leaks. Would a leaking head gasket be a symptom?
-
If the IAC, dosen't fix the problem. Try the TPS Throttle position sensor. Its on the driver side of the throttle body. 2 torx screws and its off.

Hello, sorry for being late to the fungus party. I also own a 2000 zx3. 2000 to 2004 was the mk1 body style. 2005 they changed it . But forthe rear disc brake swap, look for the SVT Focus, it was produced from 2001 to 2003 or 04. It also came with a 2.0 engine the produced 130 hp. the standard made 90. The Svt came with rear disc and a six speed transmission.
-
Yes the IAC is a bear. Note use Factory ford or you will be replacing it again.

Thank you. But with the idiot's here in California with day time running lights driving at night with no taillights, I just want to be safe as possible. So a bright brake light would keep my rear in one peice. Hopefully.
