I have a factory Comanche D44 I’m selling. It’s out of a very clean Texas/Oklahoma MJ that got T boned hard in the passenger door. I’m located in Missouri, but I can ship it reasonably to you via YRC Freight. Please send me a PM if you’re interested. Thank you!

Which wheel studs to use?
jeepdude89 replied to jeepdude89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thank you! I just ordered the Dorman studs. -
To those who have done the ZJ rear disc swap on a D44 or D35 non c clip, what wheel lugs did you use or are the stock MJ ones long enough? I’ve searched and cannot find a exact answer. I’m running factory TJ Gambler wheels on my MJ. Thank you!

Oil Pressure guage acting funky
jeepdude89 replied to Marine1Texas's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Mine in my 88 MJ was acting weird-getting stuck, giving false readings etc until I cleaned my C101 connector. Has been working great and has been accurate since. -

IAC behaviour / still having bad start (4.0 renix)
jeepdude89 replied to JE39's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had the same issue on my 88 4.0 MJ and I was able to fix it by cleaning up the contacts for the idle relay which is located on the passenger side behind the battery. It has never happened again after that. The relay is called the power latch relay. -
On my 88 MJ/Renix it is the one on the far right while you're standing on the passenger side facing into the engine bay.

It's already been replaced-is a new one and from my experience a bad or failing water pump will overheat more so at idle-not at speed. My issue is the opposite.

Yes-I have verified that it is actually running that hot/gauge is reading right. I've even swapped in another sending unit as well just to triple check/go over everything. I've been kinda thinking it might be the cat slightly getting clogged. I am driving it today and was idiling in a sun soaked parking lot with the AC blowing 100% for 10mins and it never went over 210 until I got on the freeway-went up to 220 in less than one mile. I'll replace the cat soon and see what it does then. After 265,000 miles it might be shot seeing how it is the original cat I'm pretty sure.

I know a few guys on here have or have had some of the 5.9 ZJ's so I thought I'd ask here since ComancheClub is much more professional than other Jeep forums I've been on. My 98 5.9 has started running hotter than it normally has over the past year and I'm getting stumped on it. It never overheats-just likes to run right around 220 when driving-if you first start it and let it idle-don't drive it at all it holds at or a little under 210 just fine. But it's only when you drive or have been driving it gets to 220 and stays there. It's got a completely brand new cooling system-radiator-cap-all hoses-water pump-heater core-thermostat and I've replaced the electric fan as well and even have it jumped on high to run all the time to see if that made a difference to make sure I didn't have failing temp sensors and no change at all-the same thing. Only things I can think of are maybe a cracked head(s) or a catalytic converter issue-although the oil is nice and clean with no signs of coolant in it and it isn't lacking power any which if the cat was clogged I figure I'd be having some power loss-but maybe not. Anybody got any other ideas? I just don't like to see it running that hot. Thank you!

Renix 4.0 Starting Issue
jeepdude89 replied to jeepdude89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Got this figured out. Turned out to be a bad latch relay. Got it fixed and it starts right up on the first try now and idles like it should. Just wanted to let everyone know in case someone else runs into this. -
I am having trouble with my 88 MJ starting lately. It'll crank over and start but immediately die. I can try again and it'll fire right up, but idle very high (about 2500rpm) for about 20 seconds and then idle down and run fine. I have done all of cruisers tips and have replaced the following-cap, wires, plugs, TPS, IAC and I have also cleaned the throttle body, replaced the gasket and repaired the cracked MAP sensor line. Anybody have ideas? 1988 MJ 4.0 5 speed Thank you

Yeah that'll probably be a killer-I'll have to hold out for something locally. But thank you though!

Thank you!

What size is the lower Alternator bolt? The one closest to the block? Mine has been replaced with another and they put about 20 washers on it to take up the gap. 88 MJ 4.0 Thank you!
