Will do. It might be under the carpet on the passenger side of the transmission hump too. That's where it is located at on my other 88 MJ that I previously owned.
-
It does have some rust on the rockers-but its mostly surface. Only have 3 small holes on total for both sides that I'll have to patch. The undercarriage is very solid and still has the undercoating in most spots.

Well I'm back into the MJ world! Missed having a manche so here is #4-my 10th Jeep vehicle so far in my lifetime. Drove over 1400 miles total in two days to go get it. This one is everything I've ever wanted in a MJ- 1988 4.0 5 speed 4WD shortbed, buckets, full console, AC, cargo/bed light, full gauges and the best part----- factory power windows and locks!!! I've never seen a MJ in person with them until now. It is an eliminator according to the vin and faded off stickers on the lower part of the doors and upper bed but I thought eliminators didn't have 4WD as an option until 90? I do know it came factory so has to be a special order. Plans for it are to keep it stock and make it a nice occasional dd. Doesn't need much though-only has 116,000 miles. Runs and drives great! Anyway-onto the pics!! These are what I took of it on the way home-will get better ones soon.

Chrysler Vin Check - Jy Find - Is Everything I Know A Lie!?
jeepdude89 replied to Automan2164's topic in The Pub
Now that I took another look at the pics, it does have a full roof length roof rack, so it has to be a 97-98-99-?. Looks like its possibly had a few things swapped in its time! -
Chrysler Vin Check - Jy Find - Is Everything I Know A Lie!?

Hey Rob, Going off of the 4.0 Litre badge on the liftgate, it looks to be a 2000 or a 2001 XJ, not a 97, unless someone swapped liftgates. Thought it may be helpful. Seth -
Oops! Just seen were you said column shift, mine is a floor shift console. Sorry!!

I have one that I pulled out of my 89 mj when I installed bucket seats and a full center console. It is the lighter tan color. If I remember right it is in good shape. I'll take $20 plus whatever shipping will cost for it. I'm in Seligman, MO. I can pm you some pictures tonight when I get home from work if your interested.

I am looking for a accelerator cable for my 89 2.5 ax5 2wd mj. If anyone has a good one that they would like to sell please let me know as mine is on its last legs. Thank you

I got it fixed today. The problem area was where the master cylinder linkage and pedal assembly join together like 87warrior pointed out. There was alot of play in this area due to broken/rusted hardware. I removed said hardware and replaced with metal washers and it is now tight and noise free.
-
When I am releasing the clutch pedal I hear a popping sound and I can also feel it. I has been working fine and noise free, it just started making this noise this morning. The clutch is still working fine and the truck still drives, runs and shifts fine it is just making this noise when releasing the clutch. Does anybody have any ideas on this? My Mj`s specs are: 1989 swb 2.5 ax5 2wd d35

jeepdude89`s 1989 Comanche "Buddy"
jeepdude89 replied to jeepdude89's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I just remembered that I haven`t updated this in a while and that I never did take and upload any pics of the rebuilding process. Sorry! Here are some pics of it finished. I`m really happy with how it turned out. Maybe sometime in the future I will repaint the rest of it. It has become my new daily driver. Now that I have the bugs worked out of it (I hope) it is averaging 23 to 24mpg. It is a blast to drive! -
Non Working Front Parking Lights
jeepdude89 replied to jeepdude89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I finally got them working today. I was looking in my electrical FSM and I noticed that the chime module is on the same circuit as the parking lamps so I removed it and they started working! -
The front parking lights on my MJ are not working and I am not having very good luck so far to get them to work. I have checked the fuse, checked for power at the parking lamps fuse socket, cleaned and checked all of the grounds, replaced the headlight switch and I have also replaced all of the parking/turn signal sockets and I still have no front parking lights. The rear parking lights work just fine. Does anybody have any ideas?
-
I will take them. I just sent you a pm. Seth

I am very interested in the caps. A set of five is just fine, I can use the extra on a spare wheel. If you could nab some pics that would be great. Thank You, Seth

I found a owners manual on ebay tonight. Still looking for the center caps, shift knob and drip rail molding.

I am looking for a few parts that I need to finish my MJ. I am looking for: A set of four black center caps like the one shown in the picture below One black drivers side drip rail molding, a owners manual for a 1989 Comanche and a factory 5 speed shift knob for a AX5 transmission. Thank You

Yes there was. The CD player was a rare option for 95 and below XJs (as far as I know they were not on MJs). They were single DIN and there also was a "pull out" unit for them. The part numbers are below. GJeep out in Cali has a NOS unit he is going to install in the MJ he's restoring. 82300394, Mopar/Jeep, AM/FM CD Radio, 280.00 82300393, Mopar/Jeep, AM/FM CD Radio, 280.00 82300392, Mopar/Jeep, AM/FM CD Radio (pull-out), 280.00 That`s neat that there actually is one, too bad they are rare though. I am trying to decide what kind of cd player I want to put in my MJ & I would like to put in something that is or looks like a factory unit. Thanks for the info!

Was a factory cd player a option for 1996 & older xj`s & mj`s? I seem to recall seeing one listed in a old factory parts catalog, but I am not able to come up with anything.

What tools do I need to remove a windshield from an MJ or XJ? I am going to pull a good used windshield from an junkyard MJ or XJ for my MJ & I would like to know what all tools I need to do it with. Also, does anyone have any tips or advice for removing a windshield?

Does anybody know if you can buy urethane sealant in a flat, strip like form rather than in a tube? If so, where can you buy it at? I thought I read somewhere that they make it in a strip form but I am not having any luck finding out if they do. I am going to pull a good used windshield from an junkyard MJ or XJ for my MJ & I plan on installing it myself & I think that it would be easier to apply strips of sealant down rather than use a tube in a caulking gun.

I am needing the rest of the factory trailer wiring harness for my 2001 XJ. According to the build sheet my XJ came from the factory with the factory towing package but one of the previous PO`s removed the hitch & part of the wiring harness. I bought & installed a hitch but I need the rest of the wiring & I want to keep the factory setup. I have attached a picture of what wiring is currently on the Jeep. If anyone is parting out an XJ or happens to have one laying around that they would like to get rid of please let me know. Also, if it helps, according to the 01 XJ parts catalog, the part number for the whole harness is: 5600 9832 Thanks! Image Not Found

jeepdude89`s 1989 Comanche "Buddy"
jeepdude89 replied to jeepdude89's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
It`s been awhile since i have updated this so i will give it an update. I found a good complete roof off an 86 mj in one of the local junkyards that i cut off & hauled home on the roof of my xj. I got afew looks on the highway & in the walmart parking lot when i was hauling the roof home! I got the bad roof cut off & the new one set in place to weld on. I am going to put metal sleeves inside the pillars to give it the proper support it needs. I figured it would be easier to fix the roof this way than to try & fix the damaged one. All i have left to do is to get the new roof welded, fix afew little electrical problems with some of the lighting, put in windshield, black slider glass, bleed the brakes, & put the interior back together & it should be ready to go! I got the motor running good now & i picked up a nice set of tan buckets, center console, clock, & full gauge cluster from an 88 xj that i will be putting into it once i start putting everything back together. It has turned off kinda cold here in Mo now & i am just working on it in my back yard so it will have to warm up some before i will get back to working on it. Hopefully i will have it going by spring or no later than summer. -
The blower motor connector is under the hood on the passenger side, up by the firewall. The connector is very accessible, you will see the back end of the blower motor up in the corner once you open your hood.
