i was told by my local mechanic that i needed to keep my 88 flywheel, cps, and computer so thats what i did. it still has the 88 wiring harness and 88 manifolds -
i put a 96 ho 4.0 in my 88 mj. had a 4.0 to begin with but was 2wd so i swapped it. won't run, have fuel and i believe the timing is set right. ive checked it and it seems ok. can't get it to fire, it turns over but just won't fire. i have the 88 flywheel and cps. do i need a 88 tps?

5 spd hydrolic fluid leak
green_miner replied to green_miner's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Alright. i was thinkin about replacing the external slave cylender but ill check the line first. its a metal line though so i doubt it punctured. -
i was in the process of replacing my clutch in my 86 with a 2.5. not sure what tranny. anyways, i put the new clutch in and had everything together when i went to bleed the clutch. when i was pumping the clutch pedal there was NO pressure at all. while the pedal is being pumped you can see fluid run out from the clutch/bell housing. any ideas?

There is also one at buds auto parts in greenville and another at lkq self service auto parts in holland mi -
The miss is occasional, occoring mostly in 3rd gear for some reason. I'm getting a new clutch for it in the morning. i put autolite plugs in it but a local mechanic told me to put champion copper core plugs in it and it'll help

I have a 86 with a 2.5 and a 5 speed. I have put new plugs, plug wires, cap, and rotor in it and it is still missing. any ideas?

So my lwb 86 has a leaking gas tank. i found a new one on cl and promptly bought it. the guy said it was from a lwb 91 so i figured it'd be the same size. i get it home and start lookin at my gas tank and then the new one and the new one is considerably smaller. I'm pretty sure it came out of a swb. the solenoid and filler neck locations seem to match up ok but i havent pulled the old one yet. would it be feasable to put this smaller gas tank into my truck without much hassle?

Classic Wheels on 2WD Comanche
green_miner replied to iamdace's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i had no problems putting rims from a 1996 xj classic on my dad's 88. as far as i know its basically the same rim as stock mj rims -
i know this isn't the "right" way to do it but in my dad's 88 we used an old mj hood that we had for the sheet metal for the floor. worked pretty good. we had to make 3 sections and weld them together as we went along. i'll see if i can get some pics in the next couple days

just outta curiosity, if i take a relay that was from under the hood of a vehicle, will it work in another spot, like from fuel to horn or wipers? I have a bunch of relays layin around and if it'd work it'd be nice to not have to buy one if thats the prob with my horn

blinkers (or the lack thereof)
green_miner replied to green_miner's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
so i swapped the flashers out with some i happened to stumble upon in my barn that had the same numbers and now all my exterior lights work but the green arrows still do not work with either blinkers or hazards. not a huge deal to me but it'd still be nice to have. any ideas? -
thanks.

If you guys are still interested i may be able to talk to my dad's friend and see if his machine shop could make something similar. either way i'll be goin down to his shop in the next few days after i put my new radiator in so i can actually make it w/o overheating and talking to him about making me a pair. if there is still interest let me know
