Well my trans fluid was low. Hardly touching the stick. Looks like my local trans shop left it low last time I had it in there. Not sure if that is my problem.

Could be a hanging caliper. I do not have a stiff pedal. No uneven wear, no pulling to one side. These knuckles do tend to No slop in the driveline. U-joints are all new as of last summer. Transmission and t-case were inspected and serviced last year by a transmission shop. I could check the bell housing bolts but I'm not seeing how lose bell housing bolts would relate to the symptoms I'm having?

For a while I've noticed that after coming to a very abrupt stop, there is a delay after pressing the accelerator, then a thunk before it will begin moving forward. The harder the stop, the longer the delay and more pronounced the thunk. Today the truck began lurching while driving around town. Feels like a momentary loss of power then the same thunk sound. I'm kinda suspecting the torque converter. I replaced it last year with one from O'Reilly when I had to remove the transmission to replace the freeze plugs on the back of the engine. I've had the fuel pressure regulator go out on a 93 ZJ 4.0, and experienced spider gears slipping, it doesn't feel quite like either of those. I'm going to inspect my transmission shift linkage, and install this since it's already sitting around new in the box in my garage, https://www.azzysdesignworks.com/shop/p/xj-linkage-mopar

Will do. Thanks

Yes I suppose I could have an intermittent vacuum leak.

I'll have to check to see if the AC clutch is engaged next time I start it cold.

Phil does good work but you have to know him in order to get things done quickly. Phil and have a mutual friend. He did my seat, headliner and visors.

Upon trying it again it is now idling normally. Maybe intermittent IAC. I know the TB and IAC are clean and the IAC is not ore than 5 years old

Went to go to work and when I started my truck it was idling at 2100 rpm. I drive it every day and had no issues when I parked it yesterday. No problem with the pedal or cable. I Guess I need to check for IAC issues. I had previously noticed that my electric fan starts running almost immediately when I start the truck, probably not related.

I have a really good upolstry guy. I bet he could use it as a pattern to make more of them. I can ask him about it on Monday.

Routing of factory antenna cable?
EUREKA replied to EUREKA's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I must have stuck a plastic plug in there at some point. -

Thanks for the info. This is for a non-powered antenna. -

Thanks, I will probably buy those. Even If I don't use them on this I'm sure I will use them someday, somewhere. -
Routing of factory antenna cable?
EUREKA replied to EUREKA's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks! My 88 does have a plastic plug in that location. What is strange is that the plastic plug has no hole in it, as if an antenna cable had never been run through there. Maybe I stuck a new grommet in it and don't remember. -
On my 88 MJ, I'm getting around to installing a replacement for the factory antenna (removed it long ago) and I'm not sure where the cable is supposed to enter the cab. I happen to already have the front fender of of my 91 project so I took a picture to help with communication.

NP229 rebuild or any T-case really.
EUREKA replied to eaglescout526's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have rebuilt three 231's using novak adapters kits, one was a sye. I don't recall that part in the 231. It has been about 5 years since the last one I did so my memory isn't sharp but I recall the detent in the 231 being spherical. I will say that these cases are intended to change mode when the vehicle is rolling slowly in neutral. They can be sometimes be stubborn to shift modes unless you rotate the input shaft. I think I have a 242 and a 249, maybe also a 231 in my shed. I can open one and look inside if you get really stuck here. But it might be after Thanksgiving. -
I had already added a better ground to the wiper motor before I did this "upgrade". After installing the new motor I noticed no improvement at all compared to improving the ground alone. I did not count wipes/time before upgrading the ground/replacing bushings, but I noticed a big improvement with casual observation. I noticed no difference with the late model wiper motor swap. I had my wife use a stopwatch and activate the wipers while I sprayed the windshield with a garden hose and counted wipes. With the truck running I am up to 59 wipes per minute.

Wipers operating "upside down" after rebuild

Thanks pizzaman, that's what I figured. I get it straightened out this weekend. -
I recently did this upgrade, https://comancheclub.com/topic/70869-upgrade-your-windshield-wipers-for-good-2001-xj-wiper-motor-swap/page/2/#comment-760456 I guess I either clocked the assembly to the motor incorrectly or something else is going on because my wipers now rest/stop in the up position and wipe downwards. Any idea what I did wrong?
