  1. Ok made it this far almost done putting it back together just trying to figure out how to put the front band back in correctly
  2. I wonder what is in there tho
  3. Got my rebuild kit today Should I open up the valve body to see if there’s any rubber o-rings to change ??
  4. Ok sounds like a plan well see how it fits around the gears when I put it all back together
  5. So you think it’s tighten to 41 inch pounds then loosen it 7 turns then the band is gonna be real loose and wobbly
  6. so for the front band tighten 72 inch pounds then turn back 2.5 turns what about the rear band the two stars next to the 7 is what confuses me why are they there ?
  7. Does anyone understand what the band adjustments specs mean ? I’m trying to figure out how to correctly tighten my front and rear band
  8. Also good new I got the broken piece out How do you know if your torque converter is good ?
  9. Managed to get some used fittings
  10. Ok sounds good I will run new rubber lines and see what metal fitting I can get to fit in the holes
  11. You could drop a 4.0 in it but it would be a little more work also I don’t think it’s compatible with his 2.8 tranny since it has a 60 degree bell housing
  12. Thanks bud So does anyone know where to get T-case breather hole tubing pieces from ? Also should I connect tubing to it and run the tubing up so it never gets water in it ?
  13. I have a 86 and it’s upgraded to 3.4 i agree with eagle if you can drive and deal with the 2.8’s problems then go for it but once your done putting up with it, I recommend upgrading to the 3.4 the 2.8 is super underpowered especially if you have 4wd and it has a stupid design with 3 belts on it and vacuum switches and a super complex varajet carborator you can tell that it’s outdated and for around the same money you can upgrade to a much simpler design also with the 3.4 you don’t have to worry about everyone passing you cause your going to slow the 2.8 gets around 110 hp and 150 lbs torque and the 3.4 gets around 160 hp and 200 lbs of torque
  14. Thanks for the Flute extractor tip so is it basically a reverse threaded drill bit ?
  15. Now for hopefully my last problem how do you guys recommend I remove this broken brass fitting I got a new one the fits the same thread size and there’s no access to it inside the tranny just outside like how it looks in the pic, any advice ?
  16. Well warren the front band is the kick down for 2nd gear and the rear band is for low reverse so if it doesn’t drive in reverse at least I can drive forward till I get it fixed
  17. Here’s a pic of the rear band looks a little used but I’m stuck with it since they don’t sell new ones
  18. What makes you say that jdog ?? do you think the material on the band has just evenly worn down ? oh and the filler neck did pull right out thanks
  19. Thanks for your advice eagle but I do want to able to have 2wd low I'm sure it helps a lot driving down hill and jdog i haven’t bought the kit yet because you can order ones with or without the band so I wanted to see what I needed first then order it
  20. So I finally was able to open the tranny and looked at the front band what do you guys think ? It looks original but in mint condition is it fine to just put it back in ?
  21. Ok I will pull on it and see what happens
  22. Working on the tranny next does anyone know how to remove the check fluid level filler neck tube ??
  23. Sounds like a plan I will order a a Posi-Lock so I can ditch the vacuum sensor switch
  24. it says in the book my friend has 2.1 liters i guess i will start there and see how it looks i also accidentally broke my Vacuum Switch on the T-Case my question is if i install a Posi-Lock on the front axle will that then solve my problem and bypass this switch ?
