Low idle and doesn't like to start hot
xmeatbagx replied to xmeatbagx's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So far since it started doing this I've changed the fuel pump, ignition coil, and the sensor on the right side of the throttle body. Nothing has worked. I'm getting so pissed off with this truck. -
Low idle and doesn't like to start hot

My 87 4.0L auto 4wd truck is idling real low and stalls sometimes. when i go to the store real quick and the motor is still hot it doesn't start at first. You got to give it like 15 min then she'll start... When I got the truck I put a new crank position sensor in cause the old one was bad, back in April or May i'm not sure witch. This problem started 2 or 3 weeks ago. What is causing all this? Any ideas? Thanks, Sean -

New truck is running good now so it's time to fix the hole in the muffler. What is a good aggressive sounding one i can throw in the old ones place? Flowmaster? Thrush? Dynomax? Thanks guys i know i'm a pain. sry.

i dumped some of that lucas injector and fuel cleaner stuff in, she ran for 10 minutes and stalled again :( . this weekend i'm doing the exhaust and tinkering with it more.
-
yea i had it running for like 5 minutes with the spark tester on it and it didn't stall.
-
So it's got spark and it didn't stall that time. what could the issue be? Must be something stupid i'm thinking, i just don't know what. What and where should i look. Thanks

I just bought a 87 4wd lwb auto truck that is almost rust free with 88,000 miles on it. But I can't get it running, I changed the fuel filter and check the fuel rail and it's shooting gas fine. What else should i check? It ran for a minute or two than stalled out. Thanks

What is the cheapest way to level my truck? The front sits alot lower than the rear. Can I throw different coil springs in from another jeep? idk.

What is this called? Image Not Found Both of my T shaped parts broke so I threw two hoses going from the tank to the block just for the summer. Now it's getting cold outside and I would like to fix it the right way so I can have HEAT. Can I buy it all together with the hoses already on them? Do I have to go to the dealer? Thanks, Sean

So I filled in the part of my back window that leaked with rtv, put my NICE headliner in and called it a day. Went with my old lady up to Somers to go hiking. On the way back my pass side tire started making some sick grinding noise. Everytime I make the truck pretty or fix something something else goes wrong or breaks. Prolly should expect that with 359k on it... Still pisses me off tho. I'm thinking wheel bearing but my mechanic is gonna look at it tomorrow. :wall:

Dude my truck did the same thing. It was raining and my wipers were on then I smelled something burning and lost it all except high. I have no idea what happend. Wicked crapy :( -
I know this has been explained alot but can someone show me pictures of what you have to change to put in full guages and where they go? Where are the sensors? :grrrr: I hate my idiot speedo and want a real temp guage... and a tach. Sorry for being a pain. Thanks, Sean

I'm almost positive 85 was the last year for solid fronts. Price depends on the buyer and how bad he wants/needs it, I would guess between $100-$300. Post it on yotatech.com, you won't have a problem finding a buyer. (I'm not a yota guy, my brother use to have a 86 4runner. don't judge me lol)

Alright, so I'm gonna pick up a new fan cluth, I think I have a shroud and an e-fan in the attic. If I don't have a e-fan in the truck already would the plug be there or am I gonna have to cut and splice wires? I figure I might as well do everything and have alittle back up cooling. :brows: Thanks, Sean
-
No shroud, no e-fan <-- i was planning on putting one in but anything involving wires confuses me lol

So my 88 4.0L over heats when she idles. I did the thermistat and it still over heats :fs1: . What could it be? Thanks, Sean

I work at a junkyard here in CT and we haven't gotten a single comanche from the c4c program. (knock on wood) We've gotten over a hundred other vehicles but no comanches. Mostly cherokees, explorers, full size ford pick ups, windstars, and full size dodge pick ups. Most of the stuff we're getting in is nicer than the crap i see on the road. We can pull everything but engine blocks. Sean
