  1. Cool, is it the same thing or is it so close that is doesn't matter.
  2. I have a dana 44 in the rear of my 89 MJ 2wd. I'm in the process of doing a 4wd conversion. My rear axle tag says 3.54 on it. I thought most front axles were 3.55? So is 3.54 something hard to find or will a .55 work?
  3. Do you have no spark at the spark plug? Or at the coil?
  4. My buddy had this problem, he would pull off each plug wire, at the distributor and spray a little WD in each end.
  5. Now thats my dream CAR!!!! MOPAR
  6. Can you give me a little more info on that Grader, i could really use one. Can you still buy them? Do you use the quad to pull it?
  7. Nice man! I have a non jeep project myself 73 Plymouth Duster i've been working on. It takes a long time on these old cars. and alot of $$$
  8. I used a motorcycle jack/lift last time as a trans. jack, It worked really well. Just the $100 one from Sears.
  9. That's true, but back then I was 18 in knew it all. A truck load of beer drinking guys thought it was a good idea.
  10. I was out cruising back roads with a couple buddy's at 2am in my old XJ. Burning my tires thru a crossroad and caught some dry pavement, BAM!! barely limped it to my parents house. Then i had to ride my motorcycle to work for a week until i could get parts. The one morning it was 0 out when left on that bike. This taught me a valuable lesson, have spare parts, or at least a spare ride.

    tires

I hate to brag but Tire Rack it 20min from my house, I buy most of my tires there. Nobody local can beat them, it's just always a long wait.
  12. The top 2 bolts a the inverted torx. I'm not sure what size, i have used a 3/8 and got them off, but since i now know different i would buy the right tool.
  13. I live in Indiana and i don't think i have ever seen 85 before. Is that something new? I believe our pumps start at 87-89-91or92. Or did you mean E85?
  14. That sucks, I'm just gona drive it for a while. Spent a whole afternoon changing them.
  15. I could probably use the old MJ sliders.
  16. Ya probably, there is 2 levers in the front. They are really nice looking seats, but my friend could barley get in and out today.
  17. Cool some normal XJ seats would probably be just fine then.
  18. I just put a curved set of XJ seats into my MJ, Man are they nice! One problem, it seems like I'm sitting up really high, I'm only about 5'10" I think a 6' person may hit there head on the roof. Anyone else ever had this problem?
  19. Wow thats some mixed answers, 50/50. What do you guys think about the timing gear? The oil pump goes with out question, its getting replaced. This is going to be my new daily driver so i would like it to be as problem free as possible, but i don't want to over do it, or replace stuff that doesn 't need to be.
  20. I recently pulled a 4.0 renix motor out of an XJ. Its going into my 89 MJ, the motor has about 140k on it, runs fine. I was wanting some opinions on what i should do to it before i reinstall it. I was planning on new gaskets, water pump, oil pump, and timing kit. My main question is the main bearings, should i change them? Or wait til they need changed? And some were on this site i saw a post that said were to look on the motor to find out what size bearings to use. Thanks for and help.
  21. I would start with wheel balance and front end aliment like the guys said, one time i had some snow packed in a rim that caused it to DW.
  22. 88 sport truck, saying the ground, reminded me that one time i had a bad ground and didn't know it. The inside of the cable was completely green and rotten, but the plastic covering was covering it all up. I was having a charging problem though.
  23. The only time something like that happen to me, it was dirty battery posts. I filled up the tank, and went in to pay for my gas, when i came out the jeep wouldn't start. It probably took a 1/2 hour of messing around before i wiggled the battery posts. But that sounds too easy for you situation. Your saying yours actually dies? Mine didn't die i just shut it off.
  24. A vacuum line goes there for sure, i will have to check on mine, but i think its that big one coming off your brake booster.
  25. There is a plug on the passenger side about half way up. It looks like a 3/8 would fit in the square hole, but it won't. I took and broken 3/8 extension and used a hand grinder to cut it to the size. Then you have to pump the oil in, i used the same pump i use to put the oil into the lower unit of my boat. The plug is round bout a 1".5 around and almost right above the cross member.
