  1. for a shorter drive shaft , you can drop the t case a bit or use a longer slip yoke off a YJ . they can make up for small amounts ,
  2. where was that made ? looks kinda cool . i would be careful for anyone doing this with a renix , as the TPS does not like water .
  3. so today i got in the vacuum heater switch that broke .. and got in the new to me injectors , has a complete PITA getting them in , had to go get new o rings for them too . but now she is all buttoned up and purring .. now on to the next problem .
  4. i got a set if your still lookin
  5. so havent had much time lately , but today i got around to swapping in the new open rad system and threw in a stock tranny cooler too . I have a second tranny cooler that i am going to use as a PS cooler a little later on . I got everything bolted back together and started to burp the thing when the stupid plastic valve broke in half  getting rid of the pressure bottle is great , but replacing it with another piece of plastic :wall: the closed system its metal with 3 hoses , on the open its plastic with 4 hoses .. they just traded one POS for another .. anyway off to the wreckers to find another one .. also found out that the previous owner had a small fender bender he dident bother to tell me about  nothing to bad , but had to take out the BFH and a bar to straiten up , not to mention the broken bolt thats inside the frame rail ( bumper bracket bolt )
  6. thanks guys , i will be running a aw4 with np242 and a d44 with 5-6 in lift .. i don't think there will be any need for fixed yoke , but maybe a CV driveshaft ..
  7. cool thanks , thats a normal drive shaft ? stock no lift ? with a slip yoke ? thanks for the info .
  8. does anyone have the length of the rear drive shaft for a lwb 4x4 , preferably with a d44 .
  9. next time take all the junk out of your truck before racing . 1000 pounds = 100 HP .. that stuff will slow you down lots ..
  10. here is a great link for boneyard upgrades , for those looking to upgrade on the cheap . add your own junkyard upgrades to this post if you don't see them on the naxja one , i can add them to the naxja post if your not on naxja . http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66012&pp=15
  11. got some work done on the door panels , combined the waggy and comanche ones . still deciding what to do for the speaker grills ,as i am going to a bigger 6 1/2 speaker in the door .
  12. so i just got word i am getting a 2000 wj for a parts truck .. woot woot , going to pull the knuckles and such and swap them on to a d30 axle i have . its a cad axle with 4:10 gears out of a 4cyl xj . a friend gave me a posi lock cable so i will have 2WL while crawling . wj knuckles 2 piston calipers posi lock , trussed , and some locking device .. in the debate column is if i should change to 5x5 bolt pattern or stay with 4x4.5 and find a set of disks that will fit xj/mj hubs and the wj calipers . i have a rear xj 44 from my waggy and am still undecided if i want to use that and swap disks onto it or just go and get a 8.8 ... aghhhh decisions .. the 44 has a aussy locker already too .. i guess with the front 2 pistons calipers the big rear drums should be ok .. aghhh any advice ideas ... *** edit .. i would also have to regear the 44
  13. right on Willy its a :Canadaflag: jeep , i think i would be terrified if i was in a mj doing 180MPH ... at the same time i would be extremely impressed if a mj could do that ..
  14. ok got this figured out , here are a bunch of pics ,
  15. you have to change the oil sending unit and the temp sending unit for the gauges to work properly .
  16. dasbulliwagen i had my waggy for years and everything on it was new , but the locks , doors , wires , sunroof , and all the little electronic things were falling apart and i was in the need of a change . no doubt i loved that truck , but i needed a change . here is a vid of it way back when ...
  17. thanks 64 Cheyenne , lets see if this works ..
  18. hey i guess i am #4 from the great white north .. looks like we have east west and now the middle ..
  19. i knew that was the response i was going to get , trying to figure out how to post pics . little help ..
  20. hey guys , i am new to this site , just been lurkin around so far and thought it was time to post up some of my junk . I just took my 89 xj waggy off the road and wanted to build something different , so i came across a lwb 2wd 88 comanche in really good shape . new floors , tank ,f/p, tps , iac , ( the list goes on and on ) it was owned by a old man who babied it then sold it to some guy who had no mechanical ability whatsoever . so i dragged it home on my dolly after struggling to get it on ( rear brakes were ceased du to sitting ,nothing a hammer on the drum dident fix) got her down to my place and started to check everything out , got her started up and she ran like a bag of crap . but once she warmed up purred like a kitten .. i was stumped , new iac tps ... so i checked the map and temp and they were good ,pulled the iac and checked it too . after scratching my head and calling my buddy i noticed that the stealership installed the tps with the arm on top of the throttle instead of underneath .. AGHHHH so i pulled it off and wouldent you know they cross threaded the bottom screw on too .. thanks stealership .. so i pulled the tb off my waggy and set it all up and now she runs great . so i have been pulling all the stuff off my waggy and puting it on the xj , got my accel coil and wires on it , put in the full factory gauges , as well as added a ammeter . pulled the carpet out and found some cancer that i am in the midst of fixing now :( i pulled some slider seats out of one of my other parts trucks ( got about 6-7 parts trucks xj mj cj and zj if your looking for something let me know ) swapped the lower brackets and got them ready to boldt in when the floor is fixed . the doors are going to be made removable ( one is so far ) i have the mini overhead console to go into it (from a xj with a sunroof) as well as a xj sound bar ( not sure if i am going to use) from my waggy xj i have a 4.5 inch lift to swap over with a d30 with 410 and a d44 with a aussy locker . as well as the waggy fromt clip . i am still debating if i want to use the 44 or go with a 8.8 i got the front bumper from my xj with the winch as well as loads of other parts to go on her , now its just a matter of time ..
  21. i think the bottom of the pumpkin on the 44 hangs down lower then the 30 , HP axles are stronger due to the placement of the pinion on the ring gear .the driveline angle is also better with a HP axle ( the drive shaft and pinion are up and out of the way too ) . i think the outer parts of the 44 are where you get more strength the servicable bearing compared to the unit ones . if you set the pinion angle to hing you start to starve the pinion bearing for oil and get into other problems ( in more extreme cases ) i still think going to a LP 44 is not worth the effort , imho . Overall clearance from a HP and a LP 44 is identical. The driveline is better protected with a HP and one should adjust the pinion angle on the LP fairly high. As far as strength goes no one has ever proven that a LP44 is nominally stronger than a 30. The main problem with the 30 R&P is flex from the whole axle (you mentioned trying to patch this with a truss). The 44 (regardless of HP or LP) has a way stronger casting that is far superior to the dana 30 that will help prevent the broken R&P problems had on the 30. The other main factor is our engines are too lame to have an issue with a LP44. ;)
  22. international scouts came with front and rear HP44's from what i have heard .. can someone confirm ...
  23. I wouldent spend to much $$ on a 30 but they are solid little axles , unless your going to a HP44 your not gaining to much from going to a LP44 . you loose clearance with the LP and don't gain a super amount of strength . Truss the long side of the 30 , get a aussy locker and some alloy shafts ( or 297 shafts from a abs xj ) and call it a day if you have a cad you have other options too . unless you are crazy with the skinny pedal thats all you really need .
  24. was that top vid at national 4x4 ?
