Brush guards and bumper comparability
Comanche 87 replied to Comanche 87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So I may have to check and see how solid the bumper is to the frame. Might have to have a cross bar fabricated to fit the frame behind the bumper and then secure the bumper and brush guard to that for extra frame support. -
Have new diamond black fey rear bumper with mounting bracket and placed an order with Krustyballer to get the hitch. Having seen all the comments on Kristy's hitch I'm pretty much sold. Moving along slowly as money permits. Can't wait to see them mounted together. Then it'll be one more major item down and 10 to go

I appreciate the offer Crash! Yea not too many that I'm aware of in the local area here. The scrap yard bumpers are all shot and bent to hell and closest peeps that could possibly help are south of me 2 hours or more. This forum has really saved my arse on more than a few occasions. Running searches now on rough country and rock auto. thanks guys!

Great info guys thanks! **update** Have windshield now! however, after successfully pulling the old one out we have found lots of rust on the pinch weld that will have to be sand blasted and bondo'ed at a restoration shop before window can go back in. Might as well do it right so no leaks or problems later on

Yea its near the top of passenger side and comes down about 3-4 inches then runs along the top just over the driver side. It's kind of in a tinted section so wasnt really noticeable until it rained and wet the floor on both sides. I'll ask locally about that epoxy injection, that could come in very handy until I can get it replaced. Thanks eagle

Can't find any front bumpers at the scrap yards so i Went to summitracing.com website and talked to their tech about a new bumper for my 87 Comanche Laredo. He said that the front bumpers they have, even the Cherokee replacements up to 96 will not fit (according to the manufacturer). Where do I go now?

Never knew they could do an epoxy injection however, in my area if cops do a tragic stop and see a cracked window they give us a ticket. Not sure though if the epoxy would pass that inspection. I'll have to check on that.

Just found out my 87 mj has a crack near the top, passenger side of the windshield. Is there someplace I can order a rubber window seal? I thick I have access to a Comanche windshield. If that's in bad shape guess I can use a Cherokee pre 97 correct?

HITCH PLATES!
Comanche 87 replied to krustyballer16's topic in Vendors- members making products for MJs
Will I need to buy anything else to attach it to the truck or is that everything? -

How much is it to buy your hitch set up? I'll put it on and attach a fey bumper as well and take pictures. I have to buy a fey bumper still and I'm not sure what an inexpensive good one is or all the places to get the right one. I keep finding bumper fillers and have no idea what that is -

The advice on forum is I need to order a hitch for an 87 Comanche from you. I'm going to have to replace the rear bumper I guess with a fey that everyone is talking about. So not sure how the two are supposed to work together. I'm new, inexperienced, on a budget and I'm over my head lol. Wish there was several local mj owners who have rebuilt their trucks close to me who could look this beast over and tell me what all I am missing. -
Is there anything I should know about brush guards and the compatibility with bumpers on an 87 'Manche I'm trying to replace the missing front bumper and I've found several brushguards of various styles. Do certain bumpers have compatability issues with the guards? And do they mount together for support or separately? I'm looking for a full brush guard that covers whole front end, light to light any suggestions ?

Alachua county here. Gainesville UF area

Do you have any pics of the seats you built?
-
I can't find any good seats that fold forward at scrap yards for my 'Manche. Most are shredded or missing. Are there any other seats from other 2 door models or makes that can be easily swapped with/without an adapter bracket? Or should I just buy new ones? If latter is the case, where can I buy them?

What to do if your hood release cable breaks
Comanche 87 replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I'll see if I can find some online. If not I'll resort to scrap yards. What exactly are the underside hood clips/latch things called so I don't sound like a retard trying to explain it over the phone lol
