  1. Thanks Hypoid, it's become a regular swarm of them down there it seems. Not sure if I will make this one as much as I would like to. Still recovering from a nasty bug. I appreciate the heads up. SOMEBODY got lucky and beat me out of a D-44! It was good to meet you, nice looking truck! We have a running thread for junkyard prospecting in the Colorado Chapter of NAXJA: http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1090400&page=11 Thanks Man, nice meeting you too. Your timing couldn't have been more perfect showing up when you did. Helping me get that beast out of the JY and into my truck. I owe ya. Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. See Ya down the road. Cheers.
  2. Thanks, I am considering going that route.

  4. Apparently CC will alter words it thinks are offensive (cook valve). Change the second O to a C and you have what I'm talking about. Might petcock?
  5. I had overheating issues as well with my 90 I6. I drilled a small hole in the top side of the thermostat. I've seen where they say do both top and bottom. It also needs to have the air bled properly. I installed a later model thermostat housing with the hole for the temp sensor. I installed a bleed valve into that hole (C#*@ valve???) You can do a search. If you don't find anything let me know and I will see what I can find for you. Mine is a bit different than the one on CC site. Solved my overheating issues except when I'm sitting in traffic. I'll probably do the electric fan upgrade at some point.
  6. And you know the difference between XJ and MJ bucket seat brackets. :) Maybe, someday, we will bump into each other and make the world a little smaller... Yes, perhaps! That would be good. Maybe CC members need a secret hand shake so we know who one another is beyond photos of jeeps and silhouettes.
  7. I have the tail lights and the tail gate that you can see are no longer there. I also have the emergency brake mechanism. I've been getting parts for VW's and Subaru's at this yard for a long time as well. This is my first effort at Jeeps.
  8. The new door is $40.
  9. Thanks hornbrod. I'm on my way to the JY today to pick up a ZJ sway bar. I can look there for a door also. I will also check with Yella.
  10. I don't know if it is OEM or not, haven't looked at it yet. Not exactly sure how to tell either. Any suggestions on a supplier for w/stripping and door lock gasket?
  11. I've had the panel off in the past and the hardware seems in good shape but I'm not looking forward to the r&r regardless. JY door I think it will be. Thanks.
  12. I need to replace the drivers side door on my 90 as the bottom seam is rusted beyond repair. I have a line on a new door that has never been on a vehicle. No glass, etc. is installed in it. How difficult is it to R&R the components from mine to the new door. It will also need to be painted. Right now it's primed with a pin stripe already on it. Go figure. Or should I just wait till I find a door from a donor vehicle that doesn't need all the work. thanks
  13. I just did the Volvo injector upgrade yesterday on my 90 renix. Took it for a short spin (less than a mile) afterward and was very duly impressed with the change in performance. Of course I'm running 215/75/15 on a 3.07 but happy with result non the less.
  14. I'm running 215/75/15 AT's. A quick follow up if I may? Do any of these require the bracket welding for the spring over to under I seem to recollect reading about? Thanks again, I appreciate the help. Ron
  15. Thanks Pete, I've been thinking D44 lsd but saw this ad on clist and thought it might be a decent interim solution if not too difficult and not just a plain bad idea. I may or may not ever get around to doing a 4X4 conversion (gotta do it myself funds wise and I'm just plain getting old). Are 3.55 gears good? I won't be doing any heavy 4 wheeling. Might be pulling a light camper trailer. What are the best vehicle sources of D44? thx
  16. Meant 3.07 if I recall correctly.
  17. I have a 90 long bed 2wd with a dana 35 rear diff (9.07) and have a line on a lsd carrier with gears & bearings. Wanting some input as to work necessary for this conversion. Straight carrier swap? Will professional adjustment to gears be necessary? Thanks for any input. Does $225 seem like a fair price & what mileage is reasonable? Not sure of condition but wanted some idea about pros and cons etc. thx
  18. I managed to get the axle turned using a combination of a come-a-long and a long pry bar wedged into the bracket that sits forward and to the top of the axle tube and a floor jack on the end of the bar. It worked pretty well for the drivers side. On the passenger side that approach didn't work due to the track bar mount etc. Used the come-a-long and the bar in the ball joint bracket and torqued on it. Also used the spring press as well as disconnecting the sway bar from the frame. Of course someone had stuck a #2 grade bolt (had a 2 on it anyway) in one of the bushing bracket holes which immediately broke off. Had to drill it out and tap it to the tune of several hours. Anyway the conversion is done. It's not a job for the faint of heart. Took me the better part of six days to do. It was a pita every step of the way. I am however impressed with the improved handling. The old control arms were total crap. No more shimmy and shakes. Thanks for the input. Will post some details about what's been done soon. I appreciate this site. Also didn't know it would be this much work when I bought this thing. rrm
  19. First time posting to this site but I've researched a lot of info and appreciate all the tips I've picked up. So...I have the wj lca's installed but had the axle twist when doing the first upper. I've tried jacking as well as a come-a-long with no movement. Need half an inch or so to line up. Do I need to loosen any bolts or remove the spring, or disconnect the sway bar, etc. Any tips would be helpful. yes it's the proverbial pita. thx
