A Comanche Build.. The story of a dead XJ..
WiscoXJ replied to WiscoXJ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
ya it did. Ended up neing the idle air valve. after that was fixed I took it down the road and I was getting a loud grinding. ended up being the tcase. I don't know how the tcase goes bad by taking it out of one truck and putting it in other but I got a new one for free so whatever. trying to find time now to put it back in and test everything out. then I need to find out why my low beams don't work as well as my hi blower setting. then I need to get my a/c working -

Get me a job! lol I want to get back into ag really bad. I worked for Deere for some time doin combines, sprayers, and choppers but went back to school for business. what year super duty do you have?
-
maybe you need a driver mod? lol just kidding. id bite the bullet and just replace whats left. if that doesn't solve it could be a bad computer or harness. where do you work that your calibrating sprayers?

yeehaw lol always fun. mine was doing tht a bit. turned out to be the idle air valve

LOL! don't even get me started on problems.. my truck died everytime you shifted to drive after the HO swap. now I fixed that and once it gets into overdrive about 50 mph something starts to grind. lol you have chevy driveline it looks like that. I would love that

I will check that once you let off the noise goes away, I was going to try the magnet thing though

had a customer driveshaft made for it and new joints were put in it

Just finished a whole HO swap. Everything came out of my running and driving Cherokee. now cruising down the road at about 40-50 mph you get a loud grinding noise. once you let off it goes away. the truck currently doesn't have any tcase linkage or a front shaft on it. I put the rear on stands and tried to simulate the noise. I got it to do it and put my hand on the tcase and that's wheres the vibration seemed to be coming from. I shifted the tcase to 4 hi and retested noise still happened around the same speed. I wouldn't think it would be coming from the trans but I also don't understand how a tcase can go bad like that. any ideas? rear end seems to clunk a lot. I don't know if it could be that?

A Comanche Build.. The story of a dead XJ..

Seems a little harsh for a vac leak. Plus I just plumbed everything. I'll double check tho -
going from park to drive it dies, same if your on an incline in drive it will die. If u keep the rpms a little higher and go to drive it won't die. If I do that it drives around fine but the initial engagement into drive is the problem. I pulled the tb and IAC and ran them through the parts washer at work tonight. If that doesn't fix it any other recommendation? Or a good way to test the IAC? The FSM tells you u need a special tool

No headlights or dash lights after full HO swap
WiscoXJ replied to WiscoXJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
checked that and it fine. ive been doing some reading about the weird things a headlamp switch can do. I might go buy one to have it, I never checked my fuses so I suppose I should do that. then ill start ohming lengths of wire if I don't find it by then -
I'm finishing up my HO swap. I put in a full dash out of a 95 as well. Everything worked on the xj before swapping it over and now my running lights and brights come on but no low beams. My dash lights worked at first but not anymore and my low beams did come on at one point but not anymore. Any thoughts? I don't have my multimeter with me tonight unfortunately
