reusing Amc head bolts?
BlackBeast replied to BlackBeast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Great thanks guys I will check summits bolts out! I have heard people re use them without problems and am aware they aren't torque to yield. But it's 110 lbs or 100 and that's enough to make me weary on a old bolt! I no I have 4 1/2 inch by 1/2 and a 3 3/4 inch length by half diamter..and I haven't measured them all but they are 1/2 bolts. 13 thread I think. But I will order from summit and call them if there that cheap and gives me a better feeling! -
Glad ya figured it out!

I am currently about to replace head and thought I might need to replace head bolts also on my 2.5 89..I can't find these bolts ..I Did however talk to the Arp bolts dealer and they said they could get me some but I'm sure they will be pricey.I also am sure the bolts haven't been reused and the books say u can re use once ! So what's ur thoughts and advice about reusing them or getting new and where u get or others get there's . Thanks.

Like I said 2000 miles and I checked oil religiously and noticed white showing up after a trip to Carthage Mo! Head gasket leak no big deal and easy fix really but kinda bites. I tore her apart which I love the ease of this little engine and decided for the price I would just buy a new head which I have now and I'm basically putting in new valves and seals and springs and a pro max head! Plus I'm adding a new radiator as the old leaks very little but needs replaced! Plan is mid January to have her on the road again as I have my wife's jeep to finish! I will post picts of head when complete!

I brought home and washed! I have recently just taken bench out and added oem buckets and console. I will take picts later..There tan and interior is gray so kinda bites but I paid 80 bucks for the seats and bumper I wanted and etc.. so I will make it work. My plans are rubicon wheels 16inch. I plan to add 1997 up front grill and fenders. I also plan to drive the smack out of it!! It has 130000 miles and (was))))clean clean oil! I am also adding 1 inch front coil spacers. New glass front window! Paint! Etc.!

Project 89 short bed ! This was the adds picture . I bought it for 600 bucks and drove it home! I changed plug wires and gave it the tuneup it desperately needed and she ran like a top! I drove her 2000 miles .There is the typical floor pan rust and that's it as far as I can tell. It has the 4 cylinder and Asian 4.

Nice! Like the gun too!! -
I also have a 2.5 comanche. I would use 456 on 33 for highways alot and 488 if I went bigger! My opinions.might be good to go with 488s.

I have a 4.0 comanche and run 35 pit bull rockers with 488 Yukon gears and I drive mine 4 days a week but I don't drive the bypass everyday and I can do 65 tops. I have the ax15 also.. I am geared perfectly I feel and don't have to down shift much but if I was driving the bypass alot I would go with 456. But I'm good! By the way I like your truck and it took me awhile to load picts lol myself!!!
