I disconnected the cat and that didn't help, so I rechecked and readjusted the TPS. It still does it at around 2000 rpms or if letting off the throttle. I'm wondering if I need to pull the fuel pump and check the sock. My other question is: when I bought the truck the knock sensor was missing the cover, sensor is there, but no cover. I have read on here that some guys don't even have theirs hooked up and run fine. Could this cause it to buck?

I checked the manifold air temp sensor. It read 3 tor 4 ohms with a cold engine and at operating tempeture I got 1.8. Not sure if I was checking it right. I unhooked the electrical connector to check it.

Thanks for the replies.....I cleaned and retightened the grounds under the hood a few days ago. One thing that I thought was weird.....I removed taillight to look for ground, but was unable to locate one there. I will check that air temp sensor.

My truck idles fine and has plenty of power, but when I hit around 2000-2500 rpms...right before I shift it starts bucking and jerking slightly. Once up to highway speeds it does it when I let off the accelerator. If I give it gas it goes away until I slightly let off the gas. If I completely let off the gas quickly, it's not as bad. During the last several weeks while getting the truck drivable, I've replaced the CPS, ignition coil, distributor, checked the TPS, new plugs, plug wires, fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator. I thought maybe catalytic convertor, so I climbed underneath and found it was put on in Dec. 02. don't think it would be plugged up yet?? Any ideas???? :wall:

All right....slapped the Jeep on a tow dolly and hauled it to the grandparents house so we could tinker with it on my vacation this week. Gramps broke out the heavy degreaser and pressure washed the entire engine compartment Put in a new distributor and the truck fired up on the first crank!!! Flushed the radiator and block then bypassed the heater hoses and pressure bottle so the truck would run with some fresh coolant. She purrs like a kitten :D Tomorrow going to try to repair the pressure bottle and get new hoses put on, also the emergency brake is jacked up. I am so stoked that it fired right up, though!!

I checked the camshaft positioning sensor and the crank positioning sensor.......both are putting out the correct voltage and pulsing the injectors, however after cranking for a minute, there is not much fuel on the spark plugs? -

When I checked the #1, I put my finger near the hole and felt the air coming out right before TDC. -

Whats an easy way to check injector pulse? Firing order, I checked several times. I'll have to check compression. Thanks -
1989 pioneer 2wd 5-speed 4.0 All right, where to begin.........If you've read my thread I am putting a truck back together (enginewise). I hooked up my used ebay fuel injectors to find out that my rail was leaking....(gas spraying all over everything. So I put the fuel rail on that the injectors came from and...no leak. Yay!! Now it still won't start. Checked for spark and it has a nice big fat blue spark. I pulled distributor and made sure timing was correct....still no luck. It cranks and cranks but won't start. I sprayed a little bit of carb cleaner in the throttle body, but wouldn't even burn it. Not sure where to check next.....I don't have any coolant in the block, just wanted to fire it up for a few seconds to make sure it would run????? First thought was the neutral safety switch, but it cranks whether the pedal is down or not??

I bought the truck, a 97 block, 96 head, and 95 intake, and a AX-15 tranny for $600. So far I removed the toolbox, took out the seat and threw the carpet away. I put everything back on the motor, but still waiting on my injectors to come in. I put a new thermostat in and I'm going to replace the pressure bottle and all coolant hoses. Here's a few more pics.....
