  1. Those are exactly what I need. I also have the loop ones you are referring to. I noticed that the light degree angle was only 30 degrees, does that really make much of a difference in brightness?
  2. The bulbs themselves are the same length. The regular incandescent bulb has the metal caps on the end where as the LED bulb does not. It will pop into place but there is no way for the electrodes to make contact.
  3. I wanted to do an interior light upgrade to my 2000 XJ classic since a few bulbs burnt out. I did some research and came across a website call superbrightleds.com and I figured I'd try them out. In the XJ (along with the MJ) the interior light bulb calls for the festoon 561LL and the website had them in stick so I ordered them. They came in the mail today and they don't even come close to fitting. Has anyone ever dealt with them before or have any trick to make them work? Just to try them out I wrapped the ends in tin foil to make them work but I really don't want to have to use tin foil for something that is supposed to pop right into place.
  4. the emblem i have came off a WJ steering wheel. i never tried the paint thinner, but the letters are raised up. i tried picking at them very carefully but i didnt seem to get anywhere. i will try paint thinner tomorrow. thanks! Josh
  5. so i bought a new rubberized iphone case the other day. nothing fancy just plain black. when i get it home i noticed that it wasnt just plain black, but that it had some white writing on it that i can't seem to get off. i tried nail polish remover, goo gone, and scrubbing it with soap and water but nothing seems to work. my plan is to get the white writing off and glue a jeep enblem i snagged off a WJ steering wheel to it. i thouhgt about just coving the writing up with the emblem but it just doesnt look right. any suggestions? the writing is raised up so it leads me to think that it isnt part of the rubber itself. this is the case i bought: and this is the emblem i got. i though it would have been plastic but it turns out to be aluminum. Josh
  6. this has to be one of the screwiest probelm i ever had with this thing. since i posted up that something was wrong with it the oil pressure gauge seems ok, not perfect, but okay. it hasnt been dropped down to zero anymore and it only seems to drop down to about 30 pounds. unfortunatly i have to drive it every day since the MJ isnt running yet but i have really been babying it (for what its worth) sunday is going to be the day that i fix the oil pressure issue. thanks for all the advice I'm going to get a mechanical gauge then. Josh
  7. a few years ago my mom bought my dad and i the greatest christmas/birthday/anniversary/thanksgiving present ever. the 2 post lift in the shop. by far the handyest tool. Jeep goes up, Jeep goes down..... Josh
  8. id be more than happy to get the parts for anyone but the problem would be shipping them. I'm not even sure if the work or not. the earliest i would be able to get them would be tuesday so i will go out first thing in the morning to get them. ill post some pictures of everything when i get them. Josh
  9. X2 i went wheeling alone one time with a buddy of mine when i first got my DD cherokee (first mistake). we went where it wasnt to "legal" to go (second mistake) so we didnt tell anyone where we were going (third mistake). it was back when i was in highschool still and they closed school the night before due to the weather dropping significantly below 0 so we went out around 10pm (fourth mistake) we ended getting stuck with very little gas left in the tank (fifth mistake was not filling it up) when we finally got cell service i called my cousin in his ranger to come pull me out but he wasnt going to be able to come till 2am at the earliest. it was either run the engine to keep warm or have enough gas to come home since there wasnt any gas stations open that late. i guess wisdom really does come from mistakes. i got very lucky that night and my condolences go out to the family. Josh
  10. its actually out of a 2001 XJ limited but i think that they only came on the limited and on the 1997 XJ country. i didnt get the ZJ headerpanel or 97+ XJ headlamp bezel that i went ot the junkyard for but all in all i say it was a good day at the yard. this is what it looks like installed in my dash also something i thought was pretty cool, the 01 XJ i pulled this out of had heated seats. the control for them was actually where the ash tray was. has anyone else ever seen this? if anyone wants the control switch i will be more than happy to go back to the yard to grab it. the seats were pretty much trash. Josh
  11. As i know of there are no wire breaks or shorts. i broke the clip that hold the connection together but that was after i had replaced the switch with a brand new one so its not in that connection that i broke. i really hate to pull the dash apart in it to see if i wire broke loose or not but i guess thats what I'm going to have to try. I'm thinking about putting some engine honey in it to thicken the oil up so see if maybe the oil pump is starting to go bad. this is what the gauge looks like while I'm driving and as soon as i come to a stop Josh
  12. Someone that i work with told me to use coco butter to help sooth the wounds. have you ever tried that? Josh
  13. Well recently the motor that came factory in my 00 XJ but the dust. Since I had it up for sale anyway I didn't want to rebuild it or build a stroker motor. Long story short I got my hands on a used 4.0l out of the same year XJ. put the motor in and it runs great...except for one problem. The oil pressure gauge is all types of messed up. It will read 40 pounds then all of a sudden drop down to 0 and check gauges light comes on then come up to right around 20-25. I thought it was the oil pressure switch so I replaced that and it's still acting up. Any ideas?
  14. thanks for the input everyone! i really needed this advice. the headblade is something I'm seriosuly going to look into. i used barbosal the first time i did it and then i ran out of it so i used the edge shave gel. that didnt seem to work out so well as i did cut my head pretty badly. Josh
  15. I recently decided to shave my head down with a razor and all. When I first decided to shave it everything went well. The second time I went to shave it (about 3 days later) I cut the hell out if my head. I thought to myself "there has to be an easier way to do this." So the next day I went to the store to buy one of the biggest mistakes of my life; nair. For those of you that don't know nair uses chemicals to dissolve the unwanted hair. And since the hair on my head was unwanted it seemed like a great idea. I waited to a few days for the cuts to heal up then I naired my head. NEVER EVER NAIR YOUR HEAD!!! I guess wisdom really comes from mistakes. A whole bottle of aloe and a chemical burn like you wouldn't believe. So my question is...for those of you that shave your head, what's the best way to do it? Josh
  16. anybody remember awhile back ago about the comapany that was making the bed sides and cab corners for the comanche? i am in desperate need of cab corners for my new truck and i can't seem to recall the website or how much they were. Josh
  17. well long story short i might be getting an 88 longbed sometime soon. the owner now converted the front end to the 97+ cherokee but he said when you have the right turn signal going with your foot on the break the rear turn signal won't flash. its only on the right side. is this an easy fix? Josh
  18. i did check and is does have the 35 under the rear. it also has a radio (with cassette) and a/c. I'm still alittle worried about what could be hiding under that paint. it could be nothing, or it could be something really bad. i was suppossed to go look at it and talk to the owner yesterday but due to the weather i didnt feel the need to venture out and stand in the rain. i also did find a few more candidates in my search for my next truck. I'm really not looking for much of a project and all the ones around me seem to be only 2wd and need a ton of work. Plus my dad doesnt want some rusted out POS sitting in the driveway. I'm waiting on some pictures that i emailed a guy about for a 1988 comanche chief but when i showed my dad he was alittle bit more than dissinterested. I did find a VERY clean 1986 comanche x down south for the same price at the one up here in north east ohio, its just getting rid of a few cars so i can have to cash to play with. Josh
  19. here are some pictures of the MJ
  20. The interior isn't shredded but it is missing a headliner. Normal wear and tear on it I guess. I'm going later on to look at the truck and hopefully I will be able to hear it run at least. Like I said there is bondo on the bed. And you can clearly see the body work on it, even from the pictures I've taken. From what I can tell the bondo goes from the lower portion of the front of the bed (by the cab corner) all the way to were the rear flares start. Hopefully I will be able to post pictures of the truck soon.
  21. I wish I could figure out to post pictures from my phone :( but everyone's jeeps look awesome! I, too, have a jeep family! My mom has a 2011 patriot (MK I think) My dad had a 1979 CJ7 and a 1981 CJ7 I have a 2000 XJ, an 1988 long bed MJ, a 1989 short bed MJ, a 1990 short bed MJ Eliminator, and a trail rig 1995 ZJ. I ended up selling the 88 MJ and my dad combined both CJ7s into one and then sold it. The ZJ is going up for sale soon as I finish painting it and the XJ is going up for sale to make room for another MJ. I also have an 83 Eagle Sx/4 that I really hate to part with but it's going up for sale too. And so is my 86 Pontiac fiero. As you can see I have a tad bit too much on my plate and need to downsize.
  22. I have been looking for a new Comanche for awhile now and I think I found exactly what I'm looking for, except the price. The basics It's a 1988 Comanche long bed 4x4 with 4.0l and automatic trans Grey exterior with grey interior. 170,000 miles The good Interior seems to be a good shape The body has little rust on it and none above the rear tires like most. Rocker panels are solid Floors are solid It's been under coated It's got what looks to be a factory long bed mat. Newer tires It's got a front grille guard. And finally a camper shell The bad It's been repainted which means it could be hiding something The one side of the bed seems to have alot of bondo on it. The camper shell doesn't match the rest of the jeep Not a factory rear bumper Front factory fog lights are missing No emblems at all on it Whoever painted it painted over the plastic flares and the paint is chipping off. And whoever painted the rims only painted 3 of them. It's seems like the truck has been decently taken care of. It does have alittle rust but I'm not too worried about it because I'm going to be using it mainly as a winter truck as soon as my other MJ is done with its restoration. It is a 4x4 which is what I want for the winter and it has some rust/body work so I won't feel bad when the salt starts eating away at it. The price says $2800 but I think if I talk to him I might be able to drop the price. I still think that $2800 is steep for it but the sign in the window says alot of extra parts. My dad says that I could buy a really nice MJ down south for that price but I don't want to ruin a good truck. Ill try to post some pictures when I get home as I'm posting this from my phone. Josh
  23. this may sound odd to some but ive always liked a bench seat better than bucket seats. how hard would it be to take an MJ bench seat with a mini console out of an automatic and put it in my 00' XJ? the power bucket seats don't work too well anymore and the center console has seen better days. plus it would be something different than the "traditional" XJ. Josh
  24. I'm still in. I requested the day off but I won't know for sure that I have it off until the week before. Josh
  25. It was nice meeting you too! Unfortunately no, backwoods was alittle bit too much for my little Cherokee. I didn't have proper tow points in the front so I didn't want to risk it. Josh
