Oh yeah I forgot about ball joints. I'm picking up a lift kit with sway bar links that I currently don't have on, an adjustable track bar, and new LCAs so all that will help too. Pete Bach at Bach Crawlers in Monument CO has a great deal on a short arm AAL 4.5" kit, comes with shocks and all.

Here it is with the topper down. It has a boot bag covering it that cinches down. I think I collapsed it a bit wrong which is why it was so big but still looks works! Steering also went in today. Install was very easy. I took off the blue and plastic caps because I don't think they belong there, is that right?? Immediately got it aligned but I still hit death wobble on the interstate!! :fs2: What more could possibly need to be replaced!

Bed rail guards by Fessybuilt.....
USAFAGumby replied to yellaheep's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
That is great news! I loved his products as soon as I saw them on Bucky. I'm looking foreword to that rear bumper if he ever does it again!!! -
I freakin love it! It's protection and camping when I want it, and truck bed when I need it. I ran out of light before I collapsed it but I got this picture of it rolled up. So the Novak tcase bracket didn't quite fit and had to be cut some. Top is what I cut out and bottom is the large transmission protrusion that was in the way. I am going to email them about it tonight. Either way, it fits and works fine. H4 headlights were also installed. OEM harness on the passenger side wasn't getting power apparently so I ran the drivers side harness over and it works pretty good. Fixed my turn signal problem too! I tried to adjust them tonight but I'm gonna take it to a shop cause I think the screws were stripped. Steering tomorrow!

Welp I've had the truck for a year now and visited the great people at Soft Topper today! I'll have to find a different tool box because the rails go the length of the bed. It's the same topper they use on the Nissan Frontier interestingly enough. Either way it fits great and functions really well. They cut out a "doggy door" that can roll up to allow access through the sliding rear window. Also installed the white gauges and blue LEDs. Anyone know if the light behind the temp controls can be changed? Headlights, steering kit, and shifter go in tomorrow!

Sometimes. I love the U-Pull down there. Have a safe trip home!

Welp I got outbid by $1 as I was away from my computer. :fs2: Still on the lookout for one! That one sold for $201.00!

Parts!!! H4 headlight upgrade and wiring harness, Crown HD steering kit, White gauges with blue LEDs, Novak transfer case linkage. Now I just got to find time to put it all in!

How do you guys have your sound systems set up?
USAFAGumby replied to Jacob Ochs's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
JL 300W 12" and Alpine 4 channel. I used 5.25" focals in the doors with the tweeters in the usual spots. I could go for the next size up though but do like that they are behind the factory grills. No rears. Didn't feel like I would need them. Honestly, I still got a lot of space behind the seat and can recline it all the way so I recommend it! :rock on: -

Seen it, that was you? Way cool!! -
Swapped on some used 30" Destination ATs to the white wheels. Now I got a driving set and an offroad set! Also, Colorado is getting mountains of snow right now

So we just finished our frame for Formula SAE. 62lbs, 3lbs lighter than last year, greater stiffness. Anyone out there ever participate in college? -
Love the two tone and pinstripe! This is just classic cool

Thanks for the advice! So the bumper did come with tie-ins but not the spacer. I just reused the old one but a JCR one is on the "to get" list. There is some misalignment with the frame and the bumper tie-ins due to a previous owner hitting a parking pole so I had to stack some washers to get it to mount with the new stock steering box. The plan for the lift is 8.8 SOA rear and Clayton long arms in the front. Due to cash and the logistics of welding and storing the project I decided to hold off on the dream until I move out of the dorms. Essentially the plug and play simplicity of the cheap Zone kit is the appeal, plus, I need new shocks ahah. Front right headlight is out so I'm replacing with a Hella H4 upgrade and wiring harness. Plus, never losing the bench seat, I love that style too much! :rotf:

Added the triangle windows to replace the leaky vent ones. Still need weather stripping but I have much less water running into the truck now! Tried to install the TJ interior shift boot and tore it. It needs to be bent to fit before trying to screw it in as well so I'll have to get another  . Ordered a CrownHD steering kit in my attempt to kill the death wobble. Also I'm looking into the zone 4.5" short arm add a leaf lift. It's only $600 and I would like it to hold me over for the next two years. Maybe once I'm out of college I'll go for the 8.8 swap SOA and long arms but for now this will do!

Went a different direction than I thought I would initially. Now idk if I want it glossy black or silver still :dunno: . Interior still needs to be gutted once I find time. Leaking about a quart every two months so that is next on the list! -
I'm looking into this kit for some light wheeling. Just to bump it, anyone know much about it?
-
Just read through the whole thing, love the project! I keep seeing parts and swaps I really want to do. I'm looking at the CrownHD steering right now. Congrats on MJ of the month too!

Thanks! Had to go blue though, the matte paint was bugging me. CSprings is a long drive from anything really haha It's Warrior Products. Kinda pricey but I think it is one of the best "factory" looking bumpers out there. http://www.warriorproducts.com/catalog-new/catalog/jeep/84-01-jeep-cherokee-xj-2/bumpers/rock-crawler-bumpers/

Idle problem solved! the vacuum line from the throttle body to the MAP was broken. Replaced it, the IAC, and an oxygen sensor and runs and idles much better now, plus no more white smoke at idle. On to the next thing on the list before I drive back to CSprings this weekend.

Installed: I ordered the rusty's xmember, PB, and mount recommended above and they all fit great. The pilot bushing compressed and mushroomed a bit when I installed it so I had to have a professional remove it and install it so be careful when using the brass ones as they damage easily. The input shaft also worked even though it was the longer length. With it all together I found out the 4th gear didn't work and had to have it re-rebuilt (see my build thread for more on that). Overall that is how my swap went and I hope it helps someone else with theirs!

It's back!!! :rock on: Works great, I had the syncro hub for 3/4 flipped around. The reverse still wines but other than that the AX15 is a really solid transmission and the bucking has sorta stopped. I freakin love this truck! Idle problem is still persistent at around 200 and will stall when let off the gas at speed. Changed the oil today to 10W40 full synthetic and new Champion spark plugs. Old plugs looked like it was running rich and lots of white smoke out of exhaust at idle. Ordered a new oxygen sensor and will clean out the IAC tomorrow as Cruiser recommended.
