  3. Agreed haha! So this got done today, 3 coats of duplicolor clear coat, 3 coats of black, then two more clear coats.
  4. I'll grab one when I drive up to Colorado! I just had the idle pulley and driveline belt go bad so replaced those today as well. Put some pedals from autozone on today. Because the original pedals are so close together these ones were mounted spaced apart and it helps a lot. I'm not sure if I like the look, mostly because the gas is crooked. I hear they add 10hp though! :rotf:
  5. Went up on the Blue Ridge Parkway to take some photos of the truck with the new wheels and herculined paint. Chris and his new Nissan Pathfinder came too. Also got the pitot tube system installed for the airspeed indicator. The whole thing is just for fun  and doesn't even work well except for highway speeds, but it does work!
  6. Thanks! Your truck is super clean, which is what I am going for. I will put up some pictures of truck with the new white painted steelies in a few days.
  7. Airspeed indicator installed from the late great Isuzu Rodeo my buddy Chris had, who also helped install it. It works too, pitot tube will be installed tomorrow and the tubing connected.
  8. Yeah I'm from Asheville, NC. It's a 24hr drive, should be fun...... The restrictions are basically only for the freshmen so I have a lot more freedom now as a junior
  9. Looks great, I was gonna do the window trim black as well, it works well on your rig. Your truck has a lot of things I'm looking to add to mine, wheels, front end, fenders. Thanks for the link!
  10. Added cup-holders after reading the write up Ronnie did here: http://comancheclub.com/topic/39314-cup-holder-another-one/ fits great! I'm 5'8'' and like to put the clutch to the floor so the bench is really far forward but it works. Also finished the herculined floors today. Clacking sound was a loose speedometer cable in the engine so we ziptied it down. Should be good to go for the drive up to Colorado in a few weeks!
  11. I'm home in Asheville for a bit, already got a lot done. Complete clutch kit and internal slave cylinder for the long drive up to Colorado. Works excellent now, however, when the truck is rolling at speed there is a rhythmic clacking sound coming from near the transmission. It doesn't happen when revved in the driveway. Thought the exhaust may have been jarred when pulling the trans, the whole system needed to be replaced so went ahead and had the piping from the manifold back replaced. Sounds awesome now! clacking is still there.....will be checked on tomorrow. Put a wireless car charger in. It mounts with a suction cup so added a black plexiglass cover behind the dash and it holds fine. Drilled holes in the dash to allow the wire that powers it through the cigarette lighter to be stuffed behind the dash.
  12. Sounds great! Thanks for the update
  13. $100 plus shipping would be as high as I can go. That's assuming it would be in good condition of course! EDIT (Apparently $200 is as high as I can go now haha)
  14. I'm in C-Springs, at least come July!
  15. Set of 4 American Racing AR767 $100 of craigslist! They are 15x8 with the 5x4.5 lug spacing. I have a set of BFGs on my stock rims, the firestone guy said they would fit these new rims even though the stock wheel is 15x7. Is this true?
  16. I used permatex liquid metal cause I had it laying around but JB weld works too. The bigger holes I welded sheet metal over
  17. Absolutely cut/grind away the rust and patch the floors first. Then POR-15 is must before doing anything else, try sticking to POR-15 if you can find it. I patched up the floors of mine and herculined the tub once every pin hole was sealed. I like the herculiner a lot as it was easy to roll on. Then I put my old floor mats down to finish it. It couldn't hurt to undercoat the floor pans as well with bed liner. Two cans of duplicolor bed liner worked alright for me. I have heard about vinyl floor mats made by ACC molded for the Comanche but don't know too much about it. Good luck!
  18. ^^^^Same, good luck with any recovery you may have.
  19. 1989, Comanche, Base 4.0L, BA-10, stock transfer case, Dana 30 front, Dana 35 rear, SWB Nov 1988 build date Located in Colorado Springs, CO On the road daily driver Link to the build should provide more info! http://comancheclub.com/topic/42498-gumby-build/
  20. Howdy :waving:, I just joined the site about half a year ago and posted this exact same thing. I'm from Asheville and go to school in Colorado. I just bought my first Comanche and first car ever in March. It is in Asheville right now and I'm headed home for summer break soon to work on it! Everyone on the site so far has been very supportive and helpful as I don't know much about mechanics yet. Good luck and always here to help!
  21. So I got bored and decided to touch up my keys. Round fits the doors and square fits the ignition, and I have two sets. Took out some model paint and doming resin to protect it. Unfortunately the American Moters part was just too small to paint :dunno: I plan on leaving the other set normal. One more month until I'm home and can start work again!
  22. I have looked at the XJ Visors but there is apparently a fitment issue as the Comanche's roof line is a little higher. :dunno:
  23. That's a nice looking '87, but the grille is upside down... All these CL posts for MJ's seem to have upside down grilles... what gives? lol Ha, look at that. Good eye! I've had that problem with CL adds in NC. People post stuff and never check back on it. Try a massive CL search engine like searchtempest if you want to search multiple areas, that's how I found mine.
  24. I started the build thread, fixed the floors first haha
  25. Great thanks for the advice! Unfortunately my truck is still in NC. Starting in July I'll be down to go!!
